HEAR YE, HEAR YE!

Well, ahoy there, sea cucumbers. Bet you thought you’d seen the last of me, huh? It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. I’m not sure how many of the old members are still following this blog, but if you are, I have some interesting news for you: I have converted Storm the Seas into a Discord RP! Now, I know Discord might seem like a strange choice, but a lot of the old members I’m still in contact with don’t use Tumblr anymore - and I, myself, have discovered the benefits of using Discord to roleplay. No threat of losing replies, there’s the option to use Tupperbot to make a ‘proxy’ to send your message so it still looks like your character, better opportunities for server-wide interactions-- the list goes on.  Why am I mentioning this here? Because I miss the rest of you guys. I still see Johanna when looking at Katheryn Winnick. I think about the merciless HMS Thunderbolt ladies. And, of course, my Cutlass crew will always have a special place in my heart.  So I’m extending an invite to any old members who see this: if you want to continue writing your old beloved pirate, or if you just want to reconnect OOC with other writers, please pop me a message. Let me know who you played, and I’ll send you an invite to the Discord server. I hope this message reaches you, and that you decide to join us! Escaped her dreary existence in Port Royal and a life of working in a brothel by joining the Navy. Her mother, the owner of Old Pete’s brothel, pushed her into the family business when she came of age at sixteen, but on advice from one of the prostitutes, she ran away from home.

Works from sunup until sundown below deck in the steamy, stuffy kitchens, as one of the many cook’s assistants preparing meals for crew. She is allergic to potatoes, but despite this works without complaint, though her hands are often reddened and blotchy from peeling them.  

Despite having spent the past four years at sea, she cannot swim, and is too afraid to ask for assistance in learning.

Returns to Port Royal once every year to see her mother, who still insists she’s better off working at the brothel, or marrying. While Nell has no interest in either of those things, she finds herself hopelessly in love with the chaplain of the Thunderbolt, a fact she keeps secret since liaisons between crew are a strict no-no. 

The men of the Navy fascinate her, but as do pirates. Her only contact with them up to this day has been from her childhood in the brothel, watching them come and go. She remembers them to be kind, often bringing her sweets.
