To all my fans thank you so much for not falling for the scam. I tried to stay on top of it.
I have also realized that the scammer had already captured one of my oldest followers account so that is why I fell for it.
"Jarrell Perry" - still using that name huh? Should have changed it buddy. Trust me when I say I've already reported you to the online scammers website, My banks, and local law enforcement.
As should anyone who has fallen for the scam.
That being said everyone of my fans knows I don't randomly message people.
And if we do talk it's strictly about requests.
Don't allow your account to be taken hostage!
If you do somehow manage to access your old pages again just save what you can and delete. It's tragic but your safest bet to prevent the scammer from accessing your stuff again.
Also... after this whole experience I can never trust discord. Sorry guys the stuffymcstuffsworld brand will not merge onto that due to emotional trauma
I'd appreciate it if you reblogged this post! I almost fell for that shit!
A Tumblr user called me saying they reported my account by accident and I needed to call a Tumblr support on Discord: Jarell Perry (this Tumblr user account was already hacked, now I know that)
Then I called this guy on Discord. I was desperate cause in the "warning" said my account would be blocked in 24 hours. But the whole conversation was REALLY strange, even more when he gave me, OUT OF NOWHERE, his "certificate":
Here is the "certificate":
He asked, then, for me to change my email and I was like "what kind of support would ask this crap?"
Besides my suspicions, TWO things saved me to fall for this shit:
>>> Another Tumblr Warning: I decided to search a little more and found ONE, ONE POST ABOUT IT ON TUMBLR, by @stuffymcstuffsworldthesecond (here is the link, please check it too and repost).
>>> The original person that called me was hacked: I even went a little further and searched the tumblr user on Google (I needed to contact them some other way to confirm the message) and, guess what, they have an Instagram account AND A NEW TUMBLR ACCOUNT, cause the first one was HACKED!! THE ONE THAT WAS TALKING WITH ME!!! (Here is the post explaining it, also consider to follow this artist, their art is amazing! The NEW and SAFE account is @cypher-030)
THEN, I reported both the scammers and blocked them! Apparently, the hacked Tumblr account that called me is already banned at the time I write this warning! But must be more of them!
EVERYONE, DON'T FALL FOR THIS! If this happened with you, it would mean a lot if you reblogged!
Also, my followers: I will NEVER send a message about anything like this for you on private! I almost NEVER talk on private, I just talk on comments, asks and hashtag reblogs! Please please, know that!
I will mention all my moots here cause I think this whole scam warning is REALLY important!
Yesterday afternoon, I got a DM from someone I’ve never met named @depap1. They claimed they accidentally reported my Tumblr blog and apologized, which I appreciated at first. I didn’t expect to get a message like that and it legitimately stressed me out. I filled out a report to Tumblr so fast because I was scared of losing my blog. But then they told me I had to handle the situation through Discord by contacting a “Tumblr corporate security head,” and that’s when the red flags went up.
Tumblr does not handle reports or account issues through Discord. That’s not how any legit platform operates. This is almost certainly a scam designed to scare people into giving up personal info or access.
Another thing that stood out to me is that they never told me the username or the pfp of the account they supposedly confused me with. If it were a real mistake, that would have been the first thing they explained. The vagueness was such a huge red flag.
So I didn’t write them back and I just blocked them.
If you get a message like this, do not engage. Don’t click anything, don’t add anyone on Discord, and don’t panic. Just report it to Tumblr and protect your account.
I’m sharing this so nobody else gets caught off guard. Stay safe out there!

Before we begin, if someone reaches out to you apologizing for accidentally reporting you and giving you steps to fix that, it is a common scam that we are aware of. All reports are reviewed by a human, so if someone actually accidentally reported you, the report would likely be rejected. If someone like that reaches out to you, or you think someone is pretending to be [tumblr] Staff, please report it to us immediately and block them. Outside of official [tumblr] accounts and our support email, Staff will never message you, reply to your messages, or notify you about changes to your account.

There’s a new scam that has been popular for a few months now and and I don’t see many people talk about it but what I do see is lots of people losing their accounts
It’s happening both on tumblr and twitter (maybe other platforms too but I don’t use anything else). The scammer sends a direct message or a comment if you have dms disabled to “tell you something about your account”. Note: they write from accounts of people they’ve already stolen from so they don’t look suspicious at first! On twitter I’ve gotten some of those even from my mutuals and accounts with bigger following
(@ blurred since I don't want names of innocent people's accounts to be associated with those scams)
They tell you they have “accidently reported your account and you’re gonna lose it if you don’t take action”. They use all sorts of ways to tell you that: they got hacked and thought it was you, they missclicked, they mistook your account for another one etc. They all sound very normal and natural, dms seem to be generated each time- no two messages are the same so you can’t look it up. Then they send you the generated screenshots of emails as a “proof” and give you limited time to take action to stress you into doing something stupid.
Please remember that NO OFFICIAL STAFF WILL EVER BE USING DISCORD FOR THEIR OFFICIAL CORRESPONDENCE!!! The account names are a dead giveaway as well, the use of X’s and numbers are pretty unprofessional.
Unfortunately I have only one example from twitter as I’ve already blocked the other scammers or the accounts deactivated. But yeah, I’ve gotten a lot of those over the span of past few months and I got stressed the first time I got one as well bcs they sound really convincing at first but I didn't respond and as you can see I haven't lost any of my accounts. So please remember to always be suspicious and look things up on the internet about types of scams or how the official platform deals with those things before giving away your personal information!
READ THIS BEFORE FALLING FOR THIS TUMBLR SCAM AND SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH EVERYONE YOU CAN!
There's been a scam going on on tumblr for a while now, I found out about it through some posts here and on reddit after I had already sent my credentials to a "tumblr support agent" on discord. At the end, there's a reddit post with instructions on how to recover your account if you have been scammed or know someone who was
Kinda long post
Someone I've been following on tumblr for 2 years, a creator of some characters I like and an artist (but I don't know them beyond that), contacted me in DM yesterday saying they needed to talk. Earlier today, they said they were scammed by someone and mistakenly reported my account thinking I was the scammer, and some friends also reported it. They said they "sent a message to tumblr support" saying the report was a mistake, and that the reason for messaging me was that I needed to contact a user on discord, who was mentioned in the "tumblr e-mail" in response to the user who sent me the message, in order to reverse the ban on my account within a certain timeframe
I added the user as a friend on discord, but up until then I hadn't suspected anything (I have no experience with scams or tumblr support, and never expected that tumblr user to message me, so I didn't know they don't have agents on discord, and obviously I didn't want to lose my account). I contacted the guy, who's probably a fake profile (scammers would never reveal their true identity even if they were pretending to be support staff from a platform, from a business, or anything else), and he asked me a series of questions and confirmations about the process I would go through to "remove the false, fraud reports (illegal transactions and fraudulent activity) from my account to avoid a permanent ban. He asked for my date of birth, country, handle, and soon after, my tumblr e-mail address
I actually received an email from tumblr (or a fake one) to change my password. A platform's support team would never ask for information like passwords, since they already have the necessary access to accounts for legal and support purposes. He gained access to my account when I changed my password to the one he requested. I believe he couldn't have accessed it any other way using only the e-mail, and I guess that changed passwords aren't saved in the account by history, so he wouldn't have been able to access the old password and try to access my accounts on other platforms that share the same e-mail?
They went to great lengths to create fake graphics for the scam using the tumblr logo and fake support e-mails from the platform (even those that the tumblr user who contacted me sent in the messages)
The FDIC website exists, it's a USA government agency dealing with something in finance and security. However, I'm not sure about the site's legitimacy or if the scammers are just using it as a means to an end without being directly involved. Don't visit the site as a precaution
That was the last message in the conversation. I thought about how I should act while I was still desperate to solve the problem, so I searched what appeared on the scammer's profile, "verified tumblr dispute support", and found the reddit post. The scammer also had a linkedin page, but I won't put it here for security reasons. When I recovered my account and changed the password, the language had been changed to english by the scammer, a trace he left behind, besides the fact that the tumblr user's account had been deleted (no longer appeared in DM), either by the scammer(s) or by the REAL support
If possible, file a police report against this scammer, as it may be an organization and not just one individual, and many people must've already been scammed after paying the fee in dollars. Spread this information to people you know who also use tumblr so that it spreads and more people find out!
Reddit post for instructions
Direct link to REAL tumblr support (once your e-mail is confirmed and replied to, they will also give you more specific instructions for preventing and resetting your password to a new one without needing the current one, which's the one the scammer changed to)
