And it's a relief to let someone outside know how cavalier I can be. More importantly, how it's not about being cavalier at all. It's only playing house; a joke is a hypothetic pretend-world where I can rehearse the horrible facts looming in my consciousness without taking on all the consuming, negative emotions.

When I was much younger

I'd often write, bemoaning the nothing that befell me, or the anything I'd done to myself. And the one person who was such an undue champion of everything I felt and produced, was my sister. Now when I look back, especially in light of her suicide, I don't feel as though I've truly struggled at all, in my entire life. And that she perhaps identified with something dark and truly painful, that I'd only incidentally struck upon in my writing.

Sometimes I think I don't miss her as much as I just missed the chance to make it up to her.

Amy Schumer catches so much flack for being funny or *normal* about the perspective of women or things that affect women where a male counterpart would get praise or at least no criticism. By the way, calling a mention of tampon use "gross attempt at humor" perfectly demonstrates the (usually male) inability to deal with all things menstruation-related. Boi, bye.
