DUMMY PREMIERES L-VIS 1990'S "CAUGHT UP" - OUT NOW ON TOKIMONSTA'S LABEL

“Night Slugs has always been a label that looks to the past and future simultaneously, and the latest offering from co-honcho L-Vis 1990 harks back to the ’90s with its neon, low-slung synths and a syrupy vocal from newcomer Brook Baili. It’s taken from TOKiMONSTA’s ‘Young Art Sound II’ compilation – the follow-up to 2017’s ‘Young Art Sound’, giving a platform to rising talent from a number of different genres. “L-Vis 1990 has always been one of my favourite producers,” TOKiMONSTA says. “His music is an impressive balance of forward thinking and nostalgia. This original for our compilation is an amazing example of just that – a futuristic classic.” “‘Caught Up’ is from a series of ’90s-inspired love jamz I’ve been working on with a host of exciting new London voices,” L-Vis says of the track. “This project is all about bridging the gap between generations; putting new voices on instrumentals with that old school flavour. Brook is a massive talent, her voice is like candy and her songwriting is amazing. CLASH PREMIERE VIDEO OF BAILLIE JNR REMIX OF BOSSY LOVE

“Glasgow duo Bossy Love have shared a bold new remix of their recent single 'Up All Over Me'. The alt-pop pairing match delicious melody to an awareness of club culture, fusing this with a bold, dynamic songwriting style. Debut EP 'Whiplash' emerged a few months ago, a release laden with colour and driven by a clear thirst towards originality. A full remix package has been pieced together, featuring some astute choices - there's a mix from Jersey Club's reigning Queen and Interscope artist Uniiqu3, Dance System (aka Night Slugs co-founder L-Vis 1990), and Scottish-born Parisian resident Paradise 100.

The band's own Baillie Jnr has stepped in to remix 'Up All Over Me' and it's a daring, club-focussed re-work, one steeped in the classic house textures of Chicago, New York, and New Jersey.Stretching out the original production, there's even the odd bit of dubbed out production for those echo chamber fiends. A delicious remix, Baillie Jnr tells Clash:

"Remixing something you produced can be a little odd. With 'Up All Over Me', I tried to keep a lot of the textures intact, but frame them in a classic house context. As it is so sprawling, it meant a couple of sounds I’m really fond of in the original were able to have their own moment. I also had a laugh dubbing-out Amandah’s vocal and going into the original beat halfway through!”

BOSSY LOVE - WHIPLASH REMIXED OUT TODAY

In January, Glasgow duo Bossy Love released their debut EP, Whiplash; “into the gilded pantheon of bright escapist pop, we warmly welcome Whiplash, from R&B live-wires Bossy Love" proclaimed The List. As they put the finishing touches to their debut album, scheduled for release after the summer, we are being treated to a special remix edition, courtesy of Bossy Love's own Baillie Jnr, Jersey Club's reining Queen and Interscope artist Uniiqu3, Dance System, who recently released his Wind 'Em Up EP on Modeselektor's Monkeytown Records, and Scottish-born, Parisian resident, Paradise 100 (aka DJ Africa, aka Graham Peel), of LA's 100% Silk.
