Tonight I watched And Then There Was You directed by Leila Djansi as part of the 2016 Global Viewing Party #DirectedbyWomen! Some people are gathering for viewings. I am watching one film a day by myself! I hope to attend some shared viewings, too!

SHORT AND FUN IN NYC – CELEBRATING WOMEN DIRECTING MOVIES FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD

“The films from far off lands (all over the United States, Argentina and Kazakhstan) filled the room with the laughter and moved the audience – and being able to engage with the filmmakers who were able to attend was an incredible bonus. Many of us found we had connections outside of this small screening emphasizing what a small world this global community can actually be. Tonight, Friday, September 4,  I will be watching “The Portrait of a Lady” directed by Jane Campion at Scarecrow Video here in Seattle!

The Directed by Women Global Viewing Party is in full swing!  I am looking forward to a fun filled afternoon and evening of viewing on my 60th birthday next week!  Without the Directed by Women party, I would never have sought out films directed by women to watch!

I am participating in public viewings at the Seattle Public Library and private viewings in homes.

To find my birthday party movie I used this Pinterest post of films directed by women that are now streaming! Josh (Against the Grain) stood out for me, as it is directed by a Pakistani director,  Iram Parveen Bilal, deals with a serious topic and has been recognized for excellence. It seemed like an excellent movie to start off my new year and new decade!

I will watch “Little Women” with patrons and staff at a nearby library in the afternoon!

We’re LOVING the way Seattle Public Library branches have jumped in to create Film Viewing Parties during the 15 day #DirectedbyWomen global celebration…. and they’re keeping the fun going later in the month as well.  Check out their entire schedule.  If you’re in the Seattle area, enjoy the films.  They’re FREE.  And please remember to thank your library staff for making this happen.

Helene Klodawsky’s latest documentary follows epic Montreal band Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra as they go on tour - with a toddler in tow! Bandmates Jessica Moss and Efrim Menuck take their son Ezra on the road in this incredible film which charts the challenges facing artists in a changing industry, and mothers working in the arts.
