F1 SPIRIT ANIMALS AU - explained
Spirit Animals are the palpable embodiment of one’s soul. They will reflect their human’s emotional state and react according to their feelings.
2. Where do they come from?
All people receive a tattoo in the form of an animal, around the age of 5. When they turn 7, the tattoo disappears, and the animal takes physical form. By the age of 10, most can have their Spirit Animals switching between the active physical form, and the passive tattoo form.
3. Characteristics and Restrictions:
Humans will often assimilate their Spirit Animal’s characteristics. The bond is stronger when the Animal is in its active form, therefore the human can “access” these characteristics easier. For example:
-> a person with a Hawk/Eagle Spirit Animal will have great sight and enjoy high altitude spots
-> a person with a Cheetah Spirit Animal will run very fast and be very flexible
-> a person with a canine spirit animal will have their hearing and scent enhanced
There are ways to strengthen the bond - the more time is spent together with the Animal in active form, the stronger and more stable the bond becomes. Keeping the animal in passive form for too long can damage the bond - their reaction to certain feelings will be exaggerated and they become harder to control.
They must not be separated for too long from their human. Prolonged separation can cause serious harm.
Normal injuries on either part of the bond will have no physical effect on the other, but they are both aware of eachoter’s pain if there is any.
They do not eat out of necessity (all needs get "recharged" from their human when they are in passive form) but they CAN eat for pleasure or absolute need
-> if the human is injured or sick, it is better for them to use their energy for recovering
-> meanwhile, the Spirit Animal will feed on normal food and the energy transfer will switch from Animal to human so that the healing process is facilitated
They have the same dietary restrictions and preferences as their human.
4. Interactions with other Spirit Animals
Spirit Animals will not prey on eachother, no matter the behavior of the species in the wild.
They will also not attack eachother unless their respective human’s feelings demand so.
They do not mate with neither normal nor other Spirit Animals and they do not breed. A strong bond is formed between the Animals of two people that are also close.
Death of old age occurs at the same time, spirit animals have the lifespan of a human.
If the Spirit Animal is killed before the human dies, the person will be brought to a special institute and taken care of by professionals, as it is very likely for their immune system to shut down, for them to become sick, and (in most cases) for them to go insane and become a danger to themselves and everyone around them.
The loss of one’s human will have a similar impact on a Spirit Animal left unbonded. Any Spirit Animal without an active bond will become aggressive, uncommunicative, almost “wild” and must be captured and put down immediately.
