scriniarii murmured something soft into milo's shoulder. he, too, was clutching onto the other, desperate, world-weary, and it hurt.

then both of them were in tears, scriniarii's the silent tears of the chronically terrified. he knew, he knew he was safe for the moment, but he poured so much of his energy in this moment in making milo feel safe, that it hurt, the emptiness.

the archivist lifts his head for just a moment, and is taken quite aback.

     milo wasn’t sure when - or how - he’d arrived, once again,      in firebrand’s lair. that was probably because he was      hammered; too drunk to comprehend much of what was      going on. the state he was in was undeniably awful. so,      he was entirely nonchalant when he realized where he was.

     and when he saw scriniarii at the edge of his vision, he merely      tilted his head to get a better view and slurred, ❛ helloooo …      -again … y-ya got any … ya got any whiskey ‘ere?? ❜

scriniarii looked concerned. "ehhh..." came his voice, from somewhere in his closed throat. "no, no we don't. not for you. you're too young anyway." he wasn't, but the archivist was far too invested in milo's health.

he sat on the wooden chair in the corner of the room, drew his knees up to his chest, curled his arms around them, and looked at milo tiredly and warily. he was scared, didn't know what he would do. all the drinks around here went to firebrand, and that was just like adding alcohol to a regular fire... he flared up, blazed at scriniarii, hurt him, burned him... he was fearful of anyone who had consumed the substance, even be it his own son.

headcanon: scriniarii /always/ gives a lot, even when he knows he'll get back /very little/

( oh gosh yes, i approve of this. he’s just a giving kind’a guy, y’know? it goes along with the idea that he married mary (lol irony), because he truly loved her even though he knew it wasn’t quite returned (or maybe it was at the beginning, but later on... it wasn’t enough.) sorry anon, for hijacking this, but i loved this one so much! )
