i still fight
i still struggle
i am still broken
twenty years later, i am not who i thought i would be
but that is okay

i know you are hurt and broken. i know there is a weight on your chest. i know it feels like you can’t breathe. i know there is darkness swirling around you. i know you don’t care. i know there are more cuts on your body than there were last week. i know there are things you hid that you have never told anyone. i know you are discouraged. i know.Â
i have lived this. i have had days when i woke up and was barely able to get out of bed. i have had times sitting in my bedroom with a knife in my hands. i cried myself to sleep. i have stayed up all night crying. i have been there.Â
but i’m still here. that’s why i can tell you this. and i mean this with everything in my being.Â
it. gets. better.
i know you’ve heard it a thousand times. i know that most people don’t understand. but it does get better. it will be a roller coaster. you will relapse. you will hate yourself for it. but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.Â
don’t end it now. hang on for just one more night. you can do it. watch your favorite show. take a bath. listen to your favorite music. read a book. pray.Â
just hold on. Â
I looked at you like I look at the stars
