Some changes are afoot in Chelsea . We always start a good design with an excellent survey. Remember London holds some of the finest buildings but they are unlikely to have straight walls and floors due to their age. @studio29architects draw by the millimeter so need pinpoint accuracy - it’s all about gaining and maximising space in our refurbishments ! Selecting samples for a big joinery unit which will cover an entire wall in the barn open space. We are settling for walnut veneer hand stained black. Many different shades of black in this house. We used charred wood boards as wall cladding and rusted iron switch plates at our barn renovation project in North Norfolk. Photoshoot at Cottage

We recently revisited Norfolk to carry out our final photoshoot of the spaces – we were very lucky that the weather that weekend enhanced the photos giving an incredible golden glow whilst reflecting off all the surfaces. With textures and subtle colour  we created a relaxed warm atmosphere for a second home in the country.

And so, after all the planning hurdles our new project is underway – A new build house in West London. The new private residential property is being built-in the rear garden of an existing two storey house. The scheme forms part of the local council’s “Hidden Homes” programme for residential conversions.

The site, located in a densely packed area of Shepherds Bush, needed to be carefully thought out in order to fit a new and beautiful property into the footprint.  Currently we are demolishing the tall brick boundary walls to create a blank canvas to start constructing the new walls – we call the house #shyhouse as it will be hidden behind the boundary walls, it won’t even be noticeable from the street as the design is introverted.
