In October I made a trip to Wyoming. An afternoon visit to Devils Tower. It was a nice day.
I took this foto on Friday while Waterfall hunting. The foto has been enhanced. It is a side show to the main waterfall

L0134 the actual photo. I took this but I dislike the light & dark Tis not good enough.
Taken in August 2025
In the spring of this year I began having storage problems. That's storage of data. Problems I had neglected finally were coming back to plague me. this caused me to upgrade and make changes.
Well what be these interesting boards. They are Cherry pieces of wood. Nice dense cherry to. Made a small bench to go by the door and to sit on.
Ok hold it, We need to back u a ways. Back before the truck. A trip to Texas. Now why would a minimalist travel to Texas. To see friends of the family. So we loaded up the car and headed to Texas. By the way the AI generated foto has nothing to do with the trip. But man she looks ready for a dual.

The shape of my Oval top and you can see where I glued the piece on the end get my straight edge again.
So I started up gluing of walnut in lengths. Back up, I went to my local source to buy walnut. What came home with was Walnut selects. Which means there is no blemishes, knots or unwanted things in the boards. Spendy I might say but this way I'm using basically the whole board and not having to cut anything out. I ended up with a 3' x 6' ft top. I also am confined to a size(size of the dinning room). Normally I would go overboard and build bigger (bigger is better my thinking). Yea that will come back to bite you sometimes.
With this big top I cut into thirds. So yes it has a leaf which can make the table grow in length. Here you see I am trying to define the oval top. So when I was cutting the top into thirds, disaster struck. I was not using a table saw to cut. What I was using was a battery skill saw. Well It wanted to try and cut a huge circle. But I figured it out to get that to stop. Change the depth of the blade. Yes I was using a straight edge to make the straight cut. So there I am with a gash out of one piece. What do you do? I already had a pan for it this occurred.
I took the three pieces of the top to a table saw (friend allows me use of his)and cut them down. Then I glued on a new piece going perpendicular to the grain of the top.
So what else Studio 42 up to?
Well I bought a truck. Now why should I buy a truck after all I'm a minimalist. Or at least I should try to be a better minimalist. Yes I should dog gone it. What the hell is wrong with me?
Over a year ago I pondered the idea of making a kitchen table. We currently don't have one so all in it was a good idea. What to make it out of. Well I can't just make something out of what would be normal wood but I did like the idea of walnut.
So walnut was what it was going to be. But I was given some restrictions by my sister for the table. Can it be oval? Can it be on a pedestal and not have legs?
Alright well yes it can. What you see are the beginnings of the Pedestal.

The forest gives, Gaia gives. It is in the green to find your peace. Such lush places whisper to those with ears.
