my morning routine has given my life a lot of structure despite the fact that i’m not in school anymore. i built my morning routine around two main ideas: the first is care and mindfulness, the idea of starting my day off slowly and lovingly to have a laid-back pleasant morning; the sencond one is trying to do all the things that enrich my personal life before i even start studying, to start things off in a productive and inspiring way and ensure that, even if i get lazy or busy, i’ve already taken care of myself.
these are the things that i usually do everyday, but without any rush. i don’t have a set time at which i start studying, but i simply start whenever i’ve compleated my routine, from about 8 am to 9 am.
waking up at 6 am. i do it despite having no obligation to do so since i study from home. the most important thing about waking up early is having a reason to do so. for me, it’s spending an hour alone at home, in silence, before the rest of my family wakes up.
fasting in the mornings. it helps my digestion a lot, so i don’t eat breakfast after waking up, just a cup of tea. i don’t think it would work for everybody but it does wonders for me.
reading. i love starting my day with a book, it’s a cosy and quiet activity that matches perfectly with the stillness and darkness of early mornings and my cup of tea.
running for about 2 km. that is a very short distance, it only takes about 10-15 minutes to run it, but that’s why it’s great. it’s not a very big time commitment but it still enforces discipline and ensures that i get some exercise everyday, even if later in the day i get lazy or busy. also, as it isn’t physically hard, i don’t feel unmotivated and it is easy to convince me to do it every morning.
yoga. i am not spiritual at all, so i thought yoga wasn’t for me. but i’ve found out that yoga is great to complete my mini-workout in the mornings (after my run) and also ensure that i stretch. yoga is pretty quiet, so perfect when i can’t be noisy in the mornings, and helps me relax and focus. it’s the perfect activity to do before work.
drinking 2 litres of water. this i do before i eat lunch, and it ensures that i’m hydrated whilst i fast and that i will end up drinking more than the minimum amount of water at the end of the day.
skincare. since i wear comfy clothes at home, almost loungewear, compleating my skincare routine makes me feel put together, as if it was my business outfit or makeup for the day.
