monday journaling :v))
Went to see The Odyssey with my bf and we basically disagree on everything about it (which is fine)
But of course I search the tumblr tag and I'm instantly validated hihi
Is your first name canon in asoiaf
Yes
No
Sort of (spelled differently, etc.)
Here’s the character list on the wiki for reference
17.07.26 🥯 such a stressful week but it's over now. the interview for the phd position went just ok but i got another invitation from another uni and i hope to hand in my thesis the week after the next. things are moving so quickly I NEED A MINUTE
🎧 - no instructions by the happy fits
was looking at medieval whale images earlier (got distracted in my medieval manuscript boat perusals) and let me tell you I found the funniest fucking “whale” you can imagine. brb
like. what. [Bibliothèque Municipale de Valenciennes MS 320, f. 118r]
"Writing digital notes is faster and makes you more productive", sure whatever, but can you make medievalesque marginalia to point at important stuff?
I recently found out the Polaroid app lets you scan your polaroids so here are wonky scans of Sevilla from January 2025.
summer in denmark!!
i passed my thesis and thus my degree! yippeee! i didnt get the research assistant job that was promised to me though, and that really sucks. the stability, income, and experience would have been great. i applied to a phd position that i doubt i will get, and i have to now all of a sudden figure out a plan b for if i dont get it. i think i will just work in a cafe or store or something like it for now until i find something in academia. it does mean ill be moving in with my boyfriend though!! yaay! and he got a JOB!! he's going to be a phd student and im soo happy for him :)
PhD is officially done and gone to the printer
what am I supposed to do with myself now
Made me a bit emotional to hold the proofs in my own hands this morning
Also thanks everyone for the likes and nice comments reacting to this post 🤍 The studyblr community has been an integral part of my academic journey and I'm very grateful ☀️

nothing like that damned world cup to get me back into APH mood
The most ridiculous thing will always be when in fantasy the authors/writers go to great length to invent fantasy sounding names but then their nicknames are just plain modern names
Yes I'm looking at you "Jace" and "Luke" Targaryen ffs
having an iliad summer. doing a ton of brooding. might be blinded by selfishness and/or rage. considering unexpectedly dying to my hubris. hopefully that wont have devastating effects
early june'26 // marking essays for the first time
i cannot wait to be done with marking so that i can relax for a week and just play video games. this has been a grind and i feel like my brain cells are dying. so much genAI use and it is usually quite apparent too as these essays do not engage in-depth with the sources, cases studies or the conceptual frameworks they propose. so, ultimately there is no point using genAI; it just makes your essay read well with flowery but imprecise and non-coherent sentences and arguments. it's much better to have imperfect language and structure, yet have your analytical arguments clearly present! you will actually score higher that way (if that is your goal).
I started a list of "things to do after the PhD" and it's going from "getting back into analog photography" to "empty the freezer" lol
“You know that history is mostly happenstance. Accidents piled on top of mistakes, a series of dice rolled in dim rooms by careless hands. It is not a lesson, until we learn it. It is not a story, until we tell it. And every story serves someone.” ― Alix E. Harrow, The Everlasting
