“You know that history is mostly happenstance. Accidents piled on top of mistakes, a series of dice rolled in dim rooms by careless hands. It is not a lesson, until we learn it. It is not a story, until we tell it. And every story serves someone.” ― Alix E. Harrow, The Everlasting
two pages from my notes now that i finished my vasari readthrough 📝
quiet week on campus
“I loved you by then, or would soon, or always had. It was inevitable, foretold: When I look up, I will see the sky; when I fight, I will win; when I meet Owen Mallory, I will love him.”
- Alix E. Harrow, The Everlasting
lowkey wishing that during my phd defense someone asks if I've used AI because I'm burning to answer either

(I don't touch that shit with a 2km pole btw)
Instead of doomscrolling lately I have been reading my PDFs and it turns out if you do this you learn a whole bunch of stuff. I’m afraid I must recommend it
Five years of phd and google books finally came through
chilled in the national archives online catalogue and wrote a thousand words of the prospectus in a sun puddle this morning 📃
i am dumber & smarter than u think. do not estimate me
Saw the advisor this afternoon, now it's time to stress shop
not enough of you on here are obsessed with the handsome lady knight and her little historian husband who is doomed to watch her die over and over again. disappointing.
january.
the fact that I finished Hollow Knight at 102% but I still don't know batshit about what was going on the whole game has me thinking the phd really did fry my brain
life recently: missing the gloomy weather, lots of scribbling in my journal, finding cats to pet
maybe I'm not cut out to work in academia
(received email from a student, overthought it for five days, will need two business days to recover from typing an answer)
Note to self to include this in my slides next time
