With how small the town in that doesn’t surprise me that much, but it is somewhat interesting that these people haven’t heard of vegan before. Which makes it kind of sad that you’ll probably find more results on here than you did in your initial search. But besides finding a caterer, how are the other wedding plans coming along?

Some of them have heard of vegan, but they thought that it was the same as vegetarian. I think not having vegan options only limits themselves. They could be losing out on a huge opportunity by not offering things that some people would prefer or need. I would say it’s coming along slowly, but surely! I have a particular idea on how I want the day to go, so the smallest details may take awhile to sort out.

You’re welcome! That is so cute! I’m sure they were very proud when their parents saw them. As a Jewish girl who was forced to partake in all of the Christmas events, I thank you for that. It sounds like you’re a really great teacher. Being inclusive is very important, after all.

One can only hope. There are some places who offer vegan options, but they aren’t looking to cater a wedding. Then there are caterers who would, “love to do business,’’ with me, but don’t know exactly what a vegan diet is. Thank you for the suggestion. You’re not the first person to tell me that I should speak to her, so I assume she knows what she is doing. I am ‘’hype’’ for my big day! I’ve thought of nothing else since we got engaged.

I believe it’s something that all chefs should at least consider. It’s more than a personal choice, there are some people who have food allergies who need to be on a vegan diet. Although that is not a bad idea, I couldn’t see myself doing that. I already have a job that I love.

Really delicious. So besides the whole wedding cake disaster, how’s the wedding planning going? Are you nervous yet?

Thank you! I will definitely contact Mercedes and see what she can do for me. It’s a slow process at the moment. I am very particular about everything and I do not believe in settling. I’m sure there are a few people who would say that I’m being difficult, but I believe that this is the only wedding I am ever going to have. I should be allowed to do things the way I want. No, not nervous. Well, not about getting married. I know I’ve found my one. If there is anything that makes me nervous, it’s that things won’t be coming together the way I want them to.

That’s totally annoying, I mean I’m not vegan but I know a lot of vegan people and it’s definitely becoming more popular so more caterers should start opening up to that. I hope you find someone decent enough soon, I can’t imagine how stressful it is already trying to plan a wedding full stop! 

I’ve been a vegan for a long time and I’ve always struggled with this. I appreciate more people choosing a vegan lifestyle, because it means more bakeries and restaurants have more vegan options. Except for when I need someone to cater my wedding, apparently. Thank you! I have some options now, so I’m sure I will find what I’m looking for. The planning is stressful, but it is also very much worth it. I want this day to be perfect.

Yeah I know, she needs them, but she was exactly like that. I felt so bad too, because I was making her laugh, and she was giggling, then the nurse gave her the shot, and her little chubby face went from pure joy to total horror, and she cried, and cried, and cried. Honestly I think she did it for the attention, but I never complain when it comes to cuddles.

Poor baby! It sounds like you handled it the best way you could, though. She is very lucky to have you. I’m sure she appreciated the excuse to cuddle, too. There is nothing quite as comforting as being in your parents’ arms. I still feel so safe when I hug my fathers.

To each their own, but you might want to consider a regular option, too. I mean, if you want to be vegan, you be vegan, but the idea of a vegan wedding cake sounds like dry hell, and I’m pretty sure people use their cakes to impress their guests. Just a word of advice. As for a caterer, you should try Brinley Clarke, she’ll hook you up.

I am considering other options. The cake is actually the only thing I want to be 100% vegan. The rest of the menu will have vegan and non-vegan options. I don’t want to be accused of forcing my lifestyle on anyone. I just want all of my guests to have a wonderful time. Vegan cakes are not dry, though. Just for the record. I have a recipe for one that most people say can’t be vegan. I have already spoken to her, but thank you. I know that she knows what she’s doing.

If no one has reached out to you yet, we specialize in wedding cakes and we make all of our recipes have a vegan counterpart. It was something I stressed when I opened For Goodness Cakes, that I wanted those with allergies or different diets to be able to enjoy all the goodies that are in the store! If you wanted to stop by and try them, we’d absolutely love to have you! I’m in the store until 3:30 almost every day, so please feel free to stop by whenever. And if not, we can absolutely set up a time to meet up with one another.

That is exactly what I am telling you. Most of them have heard of the vegan diet, but assumed it was the same as vegetarian. I most definitely should have come to you first. I plead temporary insanity. 

You understand me. I have been lecturing bakers and caterers on the importance of considering those with food allergies or, like in my case, a special diet. I must have been crazy to assume they all felt the same way I did. I would absolutely love to stop by! I already have an idea of what I want, but I’m not sure what Scarlet would like, so you better believe that I will be dragging her along with me. I’ll let you know when to expect us.

I made a website for a vegan bakery once and they insisted on me getting to know the product, so they fed me a lot of cake. Which is something nobody should ever say no to. Maybe the people you’ve contact just don’t feel confident enough working with products they’re not used to? I can imagine that for a baker, things like eggs and milk are like key elements and giving that up might be scary. But I do hope some of the people here will be able to help you. I’d say I could give you the number from that place in Nashville, but I’m afraid a wedding cake and an eight-hour car drive might not be the best combination.

I can completely understand that vegan baking can be challenging. I’ve been a vegan since I was 14 years old and I know it’s not the norm. People are surprised I’ve stuck with it this long. I just personally feel that if you’re going into the food industry, it’s something that you should be familiar with. My being a vegan is a personal choice, but there are some who can’t have dairy or with severe food allergies that limit their options. I would have loved if this vegan bakery were local. Even if I wasn’t getting married. It would have been nice to be able to go out and get a treat for myself. Until that day comes, I will continue my search. And thank you. I’m sure I’ll find what I’m looking for.

I’ve tried searching for caterers that are strictly vegan, but that was a needle in the haystack situation that I do not want to put myself through. Then I began looking at all caterers and decided to as what their vegan options were. That’s when they sounded confused. It was very disappointing.

I’ve lived here my entire life. I know what I’m asking may seem crazy, but I am not lowering my standards. This is my wedding, it is not the time for me to be compromising. Something being non-dairy does not make it weird. There are some people who can’t even eat dairy. Is it weird for them to want to enjoy the same things that everyone else can? And yes, I am. We’ve been engaged for a year now.
