Mini Mince Pies

We love Christmas and sweets but we were never big fans of mince pies. A little too rich, too sweet (and NOT chocolate), they were reserved for guests, our dad… and Santa when he visited. However, after recreating them for clients with our own spin a few years back, we've now totally embraced the Christmas spirit and mince pies are definitely back on the menu.

Not only is this festive treat gluten-free, it's free from refined sugars. We make use of the natural sweetness of dried fruits, fresh apple, orange and lemon in our mincemeat, no need for even a drop of honey. Our other twist is a bit of coconut - coconut oil in the mincemeat keeps it moist and we like to finish the pies with a dusting of coconut sugar....

While it is no secret that the title has worked with many seriously talented people to produce its revered pages, did you also know that some of the greatest artists of the 20th century contributed to the magazine?

Monica Praga of art and fashion blog Miss at la Playa brought together a gorgeous collection of vintage Vogue covers earlier this year, which featured masterpieces by the likes of Salvatore Dali, Andy Warhol and Joan Miró.

Although Vogue’s more contemporary photographic covers are also usually very well done, we still hope that its tradition of artist-illustrated covers could be revived for more issues.... "

The Inspiration: "At the end of the day, the clothes and styling really determine the look," says Cox. "He had some sweat on his t-shirt and dirt on his face, so we wanted the hair to look tough, but not mad."

The Cut: Fassbender showed up with hair that had grown out from a buzz cut to all one length, so Cox went in with scissors to add shape and texture. "The key is cutting in closer to the temples...."
