I saw a post about this earlier and wanted to add my own thoughts because it has been sitting with me for a while.
The radqueer community is not what it looks like from the outside. I actually liked being radqueer and I liked the sound of the community at first. It seemed like a place where people could just exist, explore who they are, and not feel judged. But once we spent real time in that space, everything felt completely different from what people claim it is.
We have been involved for about three or four months now and honestly it has been shocking in a way I did not expect. The community is full of people who do not follow the values they talk about. They say it is about freedom, self expression, and acceptance, but a lot of what actually happens is sexual harassment, fetishism, and behaviour that crosses boundaries. It feels like people hide behind the label to excuse things that are not ok.
The harassment is constant and it makes the whole space feel unsafe. It is nothing like the community I thought I was getting into. It is hard to watch people preach these big ideas while acting in ways that completely contradict them. It leaves you questioning why you ever trusted the image people painted of it in the first place.
