My Story
I have been in the space of Advertising for 10+ years, starting in SMS world working with brands such as Yahoo and moving into the creative world building rich media creatives for brands such as Disney, Paramount, Universal and IMDB.
After that I moved into location advertising working with brands such as Tacobell and Subway. My best role, although at that time I thought was boring was actually a presales solution architect role strategizing with brands such as Toyota, Lexus and Pandora coming up with ad hoc solutions for their most strategic business problems.
Later I was pursued to join a start up to build products and got a chance to work with brands such as Walmart and Wells Fargo. I built the start up's ad product portfolio solving the problems of audience building, segment management, insights and analytics. In every role, I delved deep into client management as well as the technical aspects of product implementation. I published articles, managed teams, started outsourcing operations, taught myself data science and machine learning and developed several products that solved client needs.
Currently I work at GoDaddy and own the DIY marketing products that help entrepreneurs market their own brand. From working on advertising strategies and media plans starting at $100k, I have now taken on the challenge of making advertising and marketing work for entrepreneurs spending $10-$14 a month.
It was comparatively easy for me to recommend an audience to target, channel and platform to focus on when a brand is looking to do awareness or running a performance campaign. But in my current role, I still feel like an imposter when it comes to making marketing strategies work for a nascent entrepreneur starting their business.
I feel huge wide gaps in my social media learning and feel I have to dig deep into social media myself before I preach. I hope to share my stories along with way.
