Top drop/dom drop usually comes from shock, guilt or insecurity about the way you have just treated someone whose well-being you care about very much. Like sub drop, it is usually accompanied by a fall in endorphins and general energy levels. Especially for aces (who I find have a greater need to be in the right mindset/’zone’ for play and intimacy), a ‘snap’ moment where you break out of play mode can throw you emotionally, and the end of play causes a similar reassessment or double-take at what happened during the scene.
Dominants in drop require the same kind of care as subs, but a different kind of reassurance.
more people need to know about this and talk about it because, yes subs need care, but so do our Doms - they deserve just as much care and attention as us subs

"Abby?" She materializes in the bathroom doorway, already frowning. She's been doing her best not to hover, but she knows how hard this is for you.
"Yeah? Everything okay?" Abby glances down at your hand, eyebrows furrowing at the clump of hair in your hands. "Oh." Your hair has been thinning a little bit, but clumps like this is new for you.
"Get the clippers?" your voice is small and tentative. You both knew this was coming, but it's still hard for Abby to wrap her head around.
Abby is gone for only a second, clambering to grab the clippers from the linen closet. You're already wrapping a towel around your shoulders as she comes back in. You sit on the edge of the tub facing her, hands carefully holding the makeshift cape around your shoulders.
"Do you want me to do it?" She asks, voice soft. The clippers look comically small in her hands.
"Yes please," you murmur. Abby gives you. reassuring smile, hands steady as she plugs the clippers in.
"It'll be easier if we cut it short first," she's talking more to herself than you at this point, so you don't bother to respond. Abby grabs the shitty hit cutting scissors out of the medicine cabinet and begins hacking at your hair.
"This would be the perfect time to try out a bowl cut," she murmurs, voice soft. You laugh, smiling despite everything.
"I want one of those monk haircuts," Abby laughs, smiling from ear to ear.
"Only if we get you a robe."
" I could get on board with a robe."
Abby quiet again as she picks up the clippers. She runs her hand through the choppy strands, eyebrows furrowing as she gets that pout she always gets when she's focused.
She's overly gentle as she shaves the rest of your hair, frowning as she watches the clumps gather in the bottom of the tub.
"All done," she murmurs, pulling away. She doesn't want to look at you for too long, worried she'll make a face or start crying. The last thing she wants is to make this any harder for you.
She's quiet and careful as she cleans up, sparing a few glances at you.
"Well, your head looks pretty normally shaped," she says, helping you up.
"Really? I've always been worried that I would have a flat head or something."
"I mean it's a little misshapen..."
"Abby!"
"I'm just kidding. How about we go lay down, maybe watch a movie?" Abby doesn't want to say you look tired, but you do. The bags under your eyes have gotten bigger and darker, not to mention the general exhaustion she can see.
"Mhm." Abby helps you up, throwing the towel into the hamper. She doesn't rush you or hover too much, but she still keeps an arm around your waist just in case. The prickly feeling of your shaved head against her arm is weird, and certainly something she'll need to get used to.
"Want your heating pad? Some water?" You shake your head, wincing slightly as Abby helps prop you up in bed.
"Just come here, please." Abby smiles, getting up into bed so she can tuck you against her side. She huffs as you sprawl across her, face tucked against her chest.
"You think you'll still like me when I have no eyebrows."
"I think you'll be able to pull it off." Abby smiles as you laugh, arms wrapping around her.
