Working for 20 hours in a day as part-time job
In the previous blog, I said that I want to talk about my journey in Cambodia in this blog, but I also want to talk about the half-month just before moving to Cambodia.
If the reason you came to this blog because you want to read about my life in Cambodia, I’m sorry! I’m not gonna write about it in this blog.
However, that half year experience was very important to me. I realized that my experience was kind of unique.
I moved to Cambodia on Dec 9thin 2015.The story I’m sharing is my story from January to December.
These below are things I've done(Some might sound a bit crazy)
- Working as probono in NPO that is helping Cambodia
- Working for 5 different kind of jobs
- Sometimes sleeping outside in the night to save time- No money in the bank account
- Waking up 5am(if I fail, I need to pay punishment fee)
Sometimes my schedule is like this.
1 Working in restaurant as delivery guy from 8am-1pm
2 Working in Izakaya(Japanese style bar restaurant) 2pm-10pm(30min break)
3 Working in Tanning Salon 11pm-5am
4 Working in construction place 8am-5pm
5 Working in Izakaya 6pm-10pm6 Working in Karaoke 11pm-5pm.......
There was an instance, that I fell asleep at 4pm while I was cleaning the table in Karaoke.Hahaha.
I learned that if people didn't sleep, people fall asleep even they are working.
Working for 20 hours per day
I literary worked for 20 hours in different kind of jobs, and people called me crazy. But I don't think that I'm that crazy.I believe that this experience will connect to my future winning in the long term.
I just needed to prepare until the moment came.
There was this story I heard that motivated me so much.
One American who I admired his vision told me this story.
This is about a Mexican guy story in LA.As probably you guys know, there are so many immigrants living in America.
Especially in LA, you can see so many latino who are working everywhere.
They took the risk to cross the border to come into the states.
He met one Mexican in the supermarket.
"Woooo! I've worked for 20 hours! Now I got enough money to buy presents for my daughter!!"
Mexican guy were so pumped even he have worked almost a day!!!!!
This story motivated me so much, and even I still have this story in my mind.
There are so many people who are working so hard. How can I be lazy if I know this fact?
To be honest, working as part-time job after graduating in uni in Japan was so miserable.
People generally judged people by their status sadly.
I'm not saying everyone, but generally people do like that.
However, I was not miserable because I was ambitious.
I know where I will go and I know the meaning of that moment.
Anyway, why did I have to work so much??
The reason why is I just have only 4days for work.
I spent my 3 days a week to work in a nonprofit organization to help Cambodia.
That's why if I have the day to work, I have to work more than normal people do.
The salary was lower than the former job, but I need to make money to move to Cambodia.
In the next blog, I want to share the moment I stepped on Cambodia the first time to progress our project.
