You have a great tumblr and i love your rats but what do you do when your rats piss or poo at you when you're with them on a walk ? :) I have a rats too and I wannna go with them somewhere but I'm afraid this situation.
Honestly I don't bring them too many places because of the pee. My rats don't poop on me though, they stopped after I owned them for a few weeks. Maybe because I kept a litter box in there and they're litter trainer? But they will always pee on ya!And on your other question, I don't worry about them running away. Rainy never leaves me and Mori doesn't usually go too far either.
How did u get ur rats to like water?
I bathed them once a week for three weeks and the third week, they were super chill about it. Now I just bathe them when they stink and I'm planning on bringing them out somewhere. So hardly ever. But when they're bathed now, they're not nearly ask freaked out! I use shallow water that covers half their bodies on the deep end, and just their feet on the shallow end. Warm water!
It's actually very stressful and upset for fish of any type to be in fish bowls. Their is very little circulation (which I don't know if that is for beta fish since I believe they make air bubbles?) but also the glass words what they can see and often causes them to get confused and stress. Not to mention there isn't much space. I don't know much about it as a lot of fish blogs I follow but maybe talk to them about bettas in fish bowls?
Ah, sorry, this is an old question. Violet has since passed away at 3 years old, but lived a life in 3 gallons to 10 gallons at various times. Always heated, always tested for ammonia and changed often (the safe alternative to cycling), and well-cared for. Thank you!
So I took home a SKINNY BETTA today. Little dumbo. I’m going to plump him up and bring him back.
I was thinking 2 bloodworms a day, so he doesn’t bloat, but should I do 3-4 instead? He’s very frail. Rests at the bottom but isn’t a lost cause.
Should I keep him extra warm to help with digestion? Epsom salt? Or would he not be able to absorb enough nutrients with that.
Help guys!!
(Please read/visit my page before judging my setup)
I look at him and get woozy every time. My heart breaks!
He’s in a bowl because if I were to fill a shallow 2.5, he wouldn’t have as much water. This way, it’s shallow so he doesn’t have to spend energy to breathe, and has more water than he would in a 2.5. Unless there’s something else bad about a bowl, let me know!
He had a bad experience with the bloodworms (ate most of it and spit it out. Too big for him?) and pellets, which barely fit in his mouth. He won’t eat my small pellets.
I’m very worried! I may try hatching brine shrimp or getting frozen, if he still refuses more bloodworms.
