BK by bike: an urban adventure
Here's the tale of a glorious biking, dining and drinking urban adventure through Brooklyn neighbs.
a street fair on Henry
Brooklyn Bridge Park + Ample Hills Creamery
After flying down the westside of Manhattan and fighting our way across the tourist-laden Brooklyn Bridge, we started at the beautiful Brooklyn Bridge Park atop Fornino overlooking the brand new piers.
It was soon time for our first ice cream of the day at Ample Hills Creamery. Pretzel cone and Mint Chocolate Flake, yes please.
Pok Pok NY
Then it was off to the infamous Pok Pok NY to sample authentic Thai eats on Columbia St, including hot fish sauce wings, spicy papaya salad, and a minty gin southside. I was too excited to take down these eats, and neglected to take photos.
Hay Rosie Craft Ice Cream
Realizing we were not far from the new craft ice cream spot Hay Rosie, we decided life is short and we should probably take another ice cream break.
Ice Cream Tasting Flight topped with Honey Peanut sauce
This labradoodle was resting up on a hot day

Lavender Lake Bake on the bikes zooming through charming Carroll Gardens, we hung a left turning into Gowanus and stopped off at Lavender Lake, the sight of last year's birthday party, for patio drinks and people watching.
lavender-infused cocktail + rose
strung lights and purply lomo shot
Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club
Oh...you know what's just around the corner? The Royal Palms Shuffleboard club that we've yet to make it to. Let's stop in and play! In our shabby bike wear, we are the least trendy looking 20-somethings in all of Gowanus.
crossing over the gowanus canal
After a Shuffleboard Bob and 2 games of connect four, we hit the road once again, this time down to Red Hook.
Steve's Key Lime Pie
When you get to Red Hook, follow the signs for Key Lime Pie, this is crucial.
An old school schwinn
brightly colored tables await
Brooklyn Crab
You might think we'd be exhausted after all of this activity, and we were, but simply couldn't depart Red Hook without a trip to my companion's favorite spot, Brooklyn Crab.
Buzzing with Brooklynites imbibing and plenty of families posted up in the back with arcade games and mini golf, this place encapsulates summer merriment. We topped off the day with some drinks before heading to the ferry to take us back to our island of inhabitance.
at the ferry landing
homeward bound
The moral of this story is, keep exploring. There might just be a craft ice cream shop or key lime pie (or both!) waiting to be discovered and devoured by you, just around the corner.
NJ is filled with surprises (at Pleasant Valley Lavender)
I see you #nyc #sunset #summer (at The Dunes at Shoal Harbor)
Sweet spring is settling in. Dancing in the park, meeting strangers over tango, finding love, twirling on the grass, a breath of fresh air, greenery. Welcome back, spring! Stay for a while.
