Workshop Fieldnotes September 2019 - Inspired by the works of composer Pauline Oliveros. [Photographer: Axel Mueller]
Instructions. We will focus our mind and body on the external environment and engage in a slow walk. We’ll start with our body from a relaxed standstill. We'll take a step with each full breath, letting the rhythm of our breath direct the speed of our walk. After our experience we will take time to note down our feelings, thoughts and sensations and share these experiences with other participants. There will be a short break and we will repeat our slow walk and instead of focusing on our breath we will start to listen what happens beneath us, as we letthe bottoms of our feet become ears. We conclude this second meditation with noting down and sharing our listening experiences.
After having strengthened our focus, we will perform an exercise in environmental listening on the field or in a nearby forest. We will take an interest in what we hear, listen to this with focus and our response at the end will be a review of our listening experience, comparing prior and after feelings, sensations, intuitions and thoughts, writing them in our journal.
