Sunflicks Digital Journey

A noob trying to digital draw. Started in January 2016 and love it loads. I'm officialy obsessed. I have only been drawing in my notebooks in class many years ago. Like trees and flowers and stuff. I wanted to learn to draw everything in this Sci-fi book I'm writing, but I won't touch drawing for my books before I'm really good. Follow my digital drawing journey here!

So! This drawing happened! My heart stopped when my computer suddenly decided to shut down while saving it and the file was ruined. But luckily my drawing program had backup. I literarily started crying. This drawing is THE BEST PIECE I'VE EVER MADE! Holy shit, I'm actually getting better! There's still a lot I could do with this picture, and things I don't like, but it is a big jump from previous drawings and after studying noses for three days, Im actually getting the nose as I want. I love the color choices too! I've found out that I need to start focus on what I'm getting better at, and not criticize every inch of everything I make. It will just end up ruining all the fun ;) Healthy criticism of my own drawings are great, but I have a tendency to never stop looking at the bad. Sometimes you just have to say to yourself that this is good enough, for now. I'm so happy with where my drawing is going and I fee so inspired! I can't believe it's only seven months since I started.

Eye studies. Things are going slow in the digital drawing section because of me being on holiday, but I always have the opportunity of drawing by hand. For me, this is the best way to do studies and I feel like I learn more when doing original work. I have so much to learn and I'm learning to draw the face but by bit. I'm pretty happy with working this way, but I miss my monitor and can't wait to get back to drawing digital after the holidays.

My newest creation! Somewhat half-done, but the proportions are getting better! Pretty happy with her face compared to earlier creations. Her nose is a bit weird though. Practice practice practice! 😊 I will do a lot of studies traditional from this point forward. I need to learn more about each facial feature and I learn better traditionally.

Okey... I'm kinda happy with this one since I've NEVER drawn faces from photo reference. And let me remind you that I've never drawn before I started in January this year! I say that so I can get away with some major errors 😉 I did finish it of before I probably should, but atm I'm trying to not use too much time on each picture since I have so much basic to learn still. She doesn't look too much like mother of dragons, but it was fun trying! And I will definitely practice more on drawing from reality (but I will never be a realistic drawer). I finally got my laptop back from service so now I can finally use my drawing board again! And this laptop can actually handle textured brushes 😄

I'm NOT happy with this one, but I'm putting everything out there, as I've mentioned earlier. I like how her body looks. It might be the best body I've made until now with the shadowing. Not great, but I'm still a noob, lol. But there is something wrong with her face and her hair is... Not great. She looks really intense. Better luck next time!

My latest drawing! I'm trying to learn more about drawing faces. I think I will stick with that for a while. Still a long way to go, but I'm pretty happy with her nose and her lips. And her hair is better than in my other drawings! And her brows! So at least I'm moving forward! I wanted to use textured brushes in this drawing, BUT at the moment I use my boyfriends computer which is a nightmare out of epic proportions. Textured brushes makes it shut down,'lol. SO I'm waiting to get my new one back so I can learn more about volume and depth. But until then I will do whatever I can and use the brushes that don't ruin computers and have fun with it practicing a lot!

I started drawing in January this year. Before that, I have only been drawing in my school books in when I was younger. I love being creative and I'm writing on this book project in Norwegian (just so you know that English is not my first language and I don't write THIS bad in the project, haha). While writing, I was thinking about all those amazing places and characters I had in my imagination. I needed a new way to express myself and started drawing! And this is a really big challenge since I haven't done much drawing before this, but I LOVE it! I will share my journey to become a better digital drawer. I clearly have a long way to go, by you should see all the shit work I've done up until now! But to get better at something, you can't give up. You have to keep pushing forward and enjoy the ride. I love that I was so terrible in the beginning! Because now I see what kind of progression I've had just since January! I know that there is a lot of things that's wrong with this drawing, BUT I'm putting it all out here. Good or bad, starting today! 😂
