Hi, I'm Sunny! I'm an illustrator who grew up on Tumblr posts screenshotted and shared to Pinterest, but I'm VERY new to posting on Tumblr so I'm just feeling things out for the time being.
I'll be using #sunnybartspeaks for non-art posts and #sunnybartarts for art posts.
I jump from fandom to fandom very frequently so I won't bother listing them all out here, but whatever I'm drawing or reblogging the most of at any given time is probably what I'm into. I'm also working (sort of lol) on a personal project called New Nymphs, so keep an eye out for that art as well!
It's a pleasure to meet you and I hope you stick around. <3
More Regal Shield Academy! Meet Charmleigh Glass, twisted from Cinderella's Prince Charming!
Character notes under the cut:
Who is Charmleigh Glass?
She’s the housewarden of Dodecandor, founded on the Loyal Prince’s vow of faith.
She’s 5’ 8”, 18 years old, and her birthday is July 12th.
She belongs to the Ballroom Dancing Club, and her best subject is Alchemy.
Her signature spell is Strike Midnight; she can stop time exactly when the clock strikes twelve (noon or midnight) for as long as she can hold it. Her record is 45 minutes.
She’s the heiress to a glass manufacturing dynasty in the Shaftlands. She’s an only child, but she lives with her parents, grandparents, and uncle.
Her parents insist that her top priority should be to meet someone, get married, and have kids to keep the business in the family. This pressure has led her to hide most of her true feelings; for starters, she’s been lying about having a “boyfriend in the Land of Dawning” for years to hide the fact that she’s aromantic, and she’s never told anyone that she dreams of becoming a stunt actress someday. She was thrust into the housewarden spot because of the prominence of her family, but leadership doesn’t come naturally to her and she’s starting to freak out a little.
Is honoring tradition worth sacrificing your true self?
Extra Odds and Ends
She has prosopagnosia, or face blindness, and so do a couple members of her family. She kept quiet about it for a while, which made socialization difficult for her, but once she got to Regal Shield, she finally worked up the courage to start telling her peers and asking for them to say their names when they greet her. She’s learned to recognize people by their gait, hair, body type, or their footwear if it’s consistent enough.
She has a bad habit of yawning during conversations. It makes people think she’s bored or she’s not paying attention, even if she doesn’t mean anything by it.
Fleur was her first real friend, so she was distraught when Fleur had to leave the Palazzo Bicchiere party early. She was convinced they’d never see each other again, until Fleur suddenly appeared in one of the many glass surfaces in Charmleigh’s house and started chatting away as if no time had passed at all.
She uses her signature spell when her workload overwhelms her; it gives her extra time to study or do housewarden prep. She hopes that one day she’ll figure out how to bring another person into the spell with her, so if Fleur has to go, they can get a few more minutes together before she leaves.
She has an arrangement with Bertie: Bertie teaches Charmleigh stunt tricks and parkour, Charmleigh teaches Bertie fencing, and neither tells the other’s family.
What’s up with the “Pen Pal?”
After the failure of the pilot Pen Pal program intended to foster camaraderie between Sage’s Island’s two magical schools (most of the letters NRC wrote to RSA should never be read by human eyes, and some of them were literally cursed), Royal Sword decided to pass Night Raven off on-- sorry, introduce Night Raven to its Land of Heroes sister school, Regal Shield Academy, instead. Results have been surprisingly positive, but then again, the bar was so low that it could’ve been a tripping hazard in Ancient City.
Charmleigh’s pen pal is Riddle. Their letters are fairly terse and formal, mostly discussions of classwork and their lives as housewardens. Every now and then, they let something slip about their closest friends and how much they mean to them. Charmleigh learns some leadership skills from Riddle (for better or for worse), while Riddle notes the ways Charmleigh pursues her passions away from her parents’ watchful eyes.
I finally got some down-time, so I assembled the first Regal Shield Academy ref sheet! Meet Fleur Wishwell, twisted from Prince Florian (or The Prince, Prince Ferdinand, or Prince Henrich depending on who you ask)!
Character rambles are under the cut!
Who is Fleur Wishwell?
She’s the housewarden of Kussensong, founded on the Chivalrous Prince’s vow of hopefulness.
She’s 5’ 2”, 17 years old, and her birthday is March 19th.
She belongs to the Glee Club, and her best subject is Choir.
Her signature spell is Wishing Reflection; she can appear in and communicate through reflective surfaces such as pools of water, mirrors, and powered-down cellphone screens.
Her parents are two melodramatic former stage actors from Maquillaville who had a whirlwind on-set romance before settling down together and immediately getting on each other’s nerves. She’s an only child.
The only time her parents ever seemed to get along was when they were cheering her on at her childhood choir concerts. She’s convinced herself that as long as she keeps being their high-achieving trophy daughter, they’ll never get divorced. Undeterred by their rocky marriage, she’s a hopeless romantic who’s hell-bent on proving the power of true love.
Do happy endings exist in real life, or is this really all there is?
Extra Odds and Ends
She’s the type of choir kid who randomly breaks into song and insists on singing the harmonies to pop music on the radio.
She has no grasp of personal space or privacy; she’s been using her signature spell to call Charmleigh without warning since they were kids.
She met Charmleigh at a hoity-toity party at the Palazzo Bicchiere when she was about 10. They spent the rest of the night chattering far away from all the adults. Fleur would’ve stayed longer, but her parents had a spat and she had to leave abruptly.
While Fleur believes she “manifested” becoming housewarden, she was really just recommended for the position by the incumbent, who thought of her as a decent and kind young lady. Any claims that Kussensong chooses its housewarden via a cappella contest are derisive rumors from other dorms. Girls can be cruel.
She went to Eve for tutoring over anyone else at Regal Shield because she trusted Eve to keep her slipping Literature grades a secret. Fleur’s faith in her comes a little bit from their connection as housewardens, and a little bit from her belief that Eve is a shut-in.

Fleur’s pen pal is Rook. Their letters are very enthusiastic and they feed off each other’s dramatic energy; they often ramble on for pages and pages about theater, especially productions that feature Neige. On a deeper level, they’ll sometimes discuss the nature of love and romance, how it’s vastly different in stories than it is in real life. Fleur is uplifted by Rook’s optimism when she struggles to embody the vow of hopefulness, while Rook comes to learn from Fleur that not all love stands the test of time, and that’s alright.
[muttering to myself] I love fashion design. I love fashion illustration. I am an artist. I know how to take the thing in my head and put it on the page. I am not bashing my head against the proverbial wall.
