“Well, we could definitely just continue to hang out even though we just found your key, or we can see another day to hang out, up to you,” he wouldn’t really do anything that day anyway, so he had all day free. Depending what she wanted to do, he would need to stop by his place to leave his dog there, but he would love to continue hanging out with her. “I would love if you did, you can even ask me to play and sing something if you want,” he smiled at her, he allowed people he knew to make requests, even though he usually didn’t take them. “Pfff, that’s a big lie, I don’t believe that,” he grinned at her. “That’s what everyone, also a very good reason to keep me around.”

“In that case, I say we make the most out of the beach while we’re here, and you let me buy you a ‘thank you’ drink later?” The blonde suggested with a smile. There was no time like the present, after all, and she didn’t have any pressing matters or plans to get back to - and given that Fernando was the one who suggested they continue to hang out now, she had a feeling he didn’t either. “Ooh, in that case, I’ll have to think of something. Do you have a preferred genre?” She asked before she laughed. “I don’t believe it, either. It might not be the most important thing, but I don’t think having money’s made many people sad.” Shaking her head, she returned the grin. “One of many, I’m sure.”

she was nonchalant as she peeked her head out of the police car, swinging the door to a close when she’d gotten out. “thanks, officer!” freya’s voice appearing to hold some slight disdain and stoicism. “you can go fuck yourself now.” she yelled from behind her, flinging her middle finger up. she was a sight to see, so it wasn’t much of a surprise that she felt the lingering eyes of someone on her figure. “oh, don’t worry. that’s paul. he’s a friend and also not the one who arrested me. not that i was even arrested to begin with.” she said, perking her features up with a smile.

Surrey was sitting outside, enjoying a drink when she heard a car approach. That, she didn’t think much of. It wasn’t until she heard the door swing shut and a ‘thanks, officer’ that her attention was piqued and she looked up in curiosity. The swearing and yelling had her arching an eyebrow, a smile only settling itself on her face when the other woman looked her way and spoke. “Something tells me there’s quite a story there.”

    “It’s that time of year. All you want to do is sit by a fireplace with a warm cup of sweet hot cocoa and listen to the crackling sounds of the fire pit. I might just stay in for a few days. If someone asks, I am not dead."

“That definitely sounds like a good game plan - especially if you throw in the right company.” Surrey smiled at the stranger, feeling warmth at the imagery the woman painted in her mind and at the thought of snuggling up to someone by a nice cosy fire. “If you tell me your name, I’ll be sure to pass the message on.”

His smile grew when she agreed with him, he always got happy when he met potential friends, and she was one. He would like to keep her around, maybe they could hang out even after him helping her, they both worked there, so they probably would see each other more often. “That’s good to know, maybe we can hang out,” he shrugged with a small smile, “I definitely agree, the side job idea seem good though, more money,” he laughed, before seeing something shining on the floor, and picking it up. “Found it.”

If you asked Surrey, she’d definitely tell you that she’d made a new friend that day. Despite only having just met him, Fernando felt like a kindred spirit. “We can definitely hang out,” she corrected with a grin. “Besides, now I have to come watch you sing.” Be it curiosity now that she knew what he did, or simply just wanting to support him, either way it was on her agenda now. At his next comment, the blonde laughed along with him. “Careful, you know what they say; more money, more problems.” She joked, her playful smile switching to one of pure joy as he found her key. “You, my friend, are a miracle worker.”

A low chuckle erupted from Cheryl’s throat as she shook her head. Thus far, she certainly liked the woman’s looks and her sense of humor. She wasn’t one to put a stop to a humorous back and forth easily; especially after meeting someone who could match her. “Which is totally understandable. The sly ones are the worst,” she replied jokingly. “Surrey? That’s a cool name. First time I’ve ever heard it.”

“Maybe that’s what I get for not reading the packet first.” With a dramatic sigh, she shook her head. While the blonde was always one to welcome company, Cheryl’s presence was extra welcome that night. Playful banter with a beautiful woman was just what she needed. “Thank you. I’m glad I could be your first.” Surrey joked back, a spirited glint in her eyes.

“What can I say, chivalry is my middle name.” Callie answered with a giggle. Flirtation came in all flavors; hungry and rich, spicey and hurried, and sweet and playful….and the blonde seemed to imbibe the later. She wanted to make the girl laugh, to twine fingers through her hair and draw laughter from her lips till the sound petered off into wanton moans. “I’ll have to remedy my mistake very very soon. Think you can pencil me in for tomorrow? Do I get to request who I want …should I just go the receptionist desk and request Surrey with the Sunshine smile?”

“Why do I have no problem believing that?” She asked somewhat rhetorically. So far, Callie had fit the very bill of being chivalrous, which was something of a rarity to be these days. That combined with the easy and playful nature of her flirting had Surrey content to just bask in her presence while she was lucky enough to - and maybe part of her was curious to see where their time together would lead, or what it would lead to. “I think that can easily be arranged. You do exactly that, and if the receptionist gives you any trouble, just tell her chivalry is your middle name and you’re here to remedy a mistake.” The blonde was endeared by the term, and it showed in her smile. “And if she still won’t let you through, you send her to me.”

Cheryl’s wits were her armor and her closest friend; she trusted her tongue to escape her from an uncomfortable situation or ease her into a welcoming one. It seemed the blonde knew how to slip past draining chit chat as well. Upon hearing her response, the grin on the redhead’s mouth broadened. “Well, where my coffees are concerned, I ain’t gonna pretend I never saw this comin’. But I think it all worked on my benefit in the end. I mean, my company could’ve been waay worse than you,” she quipped playfully as the other set her towel down beside her. “I’m Cheryl, by the way.”

While some people might of had a trait or method of deflection when it came to dealing with others, Surrey did not. She relied on just being herself and hoping it would be enough; a fact she was glad for because anything else just seemed exhausting to her personally. “While I’m glad your coffee is off the hook, I’m afraid I’m still going to have to hold my tea accountable - I feel very mislead.” With a small sigh, she shook her head before she smiled at the other woman. “I think it worked for my benefit, too. If the caffeine hadn’t kept you awake, I would of been alone here, and I like this alternative much better. It’s lovely to meet you, Cheryl; I’m Surrey.”

It was always nice to meet people that think like he did, especially because it was hard to find genuinely nice people, people seemed to most of the time want something in return for their help, people seemed to always do things with second intentions. “I couldn’t agree more, I think we will get along just fine,” he smiled at her, she seemed to think exactly like him, and they seemed to be pretty alike, it was true what they said, opposite attracts, but he also tended to be close to people that thought like him. “I would, if I didn’t love singing too much.”

It seemed a lot of people were cautious of others these days, people giving things and expecting something in return, but the blonde didn’t and couldn’t follow that mind set, instead choosing to focus on the good in them. Even where there was darkness, there was light. “Funny, I was just thinking the same thing.” Surrey returned the smile, at ease in Fernando’s presence. “Oh, well you’ve got to stick with what you love - maybe greeting newcomers can just be a side job.”

Oliver sipped on his beer with a lopsided smile. Admittedly, he was a little tipsy– and he certainly felt nice. It was his day off, he certainly trusted Callie enough to run things on her own. Thankfully, he had someone he could fall back on like her. Dependable. Fortunately, he wasn’t the only one off that day and it brought a small glint to his eyes. He’d seen Surrey around more than he’d like to admit. While they weren’t necessarily the best of friends, he liked to think they got on well enough to enjoy one another’s company. Really though, was it hard to get along with either of them? He didn’t think so– not to toot his own horn or anything. “I was thinking about taking the boat out today– got Jimmy’s approval, but I might need a co-captain,” he cheekily spoke, though his demeanor stayed moderately chill. @sunshineandsurrey

While her job might not of been the most strenuous one out there, it did require skill and attention to detail, so Surrey was happy that her eyes got a rest in the blessing of a day off. Deciding she had earned it, she’d started the day off with a lazy morning in bed, before treating herself to brunch - the isle certainly didn’t have a shortage of amazing food to offer, that much she was sure of. Leaving the building, she hadn’t been walking long when a familiar voice stopped her. Oliver was a nice guy, or so she’d gathered from their previous interactions, so it was a simple enough decision to sashay over to him, glad to talk to him rather than just smile in passing like she had other times she’d seen him. “I guess it’s a lucky day for both of us; I just so happen to be a fantastic co-captain, and the ocean is calling my name.”

Sydney had grown accustomed to being humored. With the amount of money she now had in the bank, she had no idea whether or not people were being genuine. Though, she’d like to think the blonde was being so– or that she was growing on her in some way. “Deceptive little bastards, am I right?” Her tone was just as serious– an added layer of depth coming to the surface. Respectfully, she nodded– taking her last drag. As the air was expelled, she carefully blew it out in the opposite direction of the woman before pressing it in the marble cobblestone. She didn’t want to continue contaminating the air around them if she wasn’t partial to smoking. “Surrey? I like it,” she commented, nodding her head. “I’m Sydney…” Carefully taking in the woman’s attire– she internally hated herself for her next question. “Are you an esc– erm staff member here?”

Growing up, Surrey had been quite a shy child; a fact that many found hard to believe now. It was as she got older that she developed into a social butterfly, a people lover - and, to an extent, a people pleaser. She hated seeing anyone upset and had a smile for everyone, though she knew her seemingly endless optimism wasn’t for everyone. “You are absolutely right.” Her somber tone was betrayed by her grin. As the woman put out her cigarette, the blonde debated telling her it wasn’t necessary. She wasn’t one to try to stop others free will, and she hated making a fuss about, well, anything. Still, the gesture, along with the assurance the smoke went in the opposite direction, was appreciated. “Thank you, so did my parents.” The joke easily passed her lips, an amused glint shining in her eyes. “I am a staff member.”

“Oh god,” Winter said with a laugh, a slightly disgusted look on her face as she turned away.  “If you get me invited to something I don’t want to be a part of, I’m going to drown you.”  She laughed and began to move a bit, now not wanting to stay in the same spot in case the man did get some ideas.  “What are you doing after this?”  She turned towards the other blonde, a slight smile on her face.  Surrey turned out not to be what she expected and she kind of liked it.  Might a friend, in this hellish place, have arisen? 

“Who, me? I’m just being polite.” Surrey laughed at the woman’s words, thoroughly entertained as she also moved so she was no longer facing the busy couple. “How rude.” She made a show of moving just out of her reach at the threat, though the grin didn’t stay off her face for long. “After this? I have nothing planned.” As was how she seemed to spend most of her time; so far the blonde had just been quite fortunate that she’d found people, or people had found her, in the midst of it all. Though she was certainly enjoying Winter’s company and was in no rush to end their time together, she enjoyed seeing her come out of her shell more as they continued talking.

“Teeth brushed, and breath mints just to make sure the job is done. I’m nothing if not thoughtful,” he answered with a laugh. Joel’s smile widened when the blonde suggested she could be swayed to stay. Did this mean he wasn’t completely broken when it came to flirting? His nerves were sparking like fireworks behind his eyes, but she seemed to be genuinely amused. “Hmm well I imagine nothing could ever sound stupid coming from your lips. Don’t know if the same can be said for me.”

“I was always taught to appreciate a man who was considerate and thorough.” The blonde returned, enjoying the easy-going, playful tone their conversation seemed to effortlessly take. “Oh, I don’t know, you should hear the things I come out with after a few drinks,” she joked, even as her heartbeat quickened slightly at the compliment and flirtation. Sensing a bit of self-doubt coming from the man she gladly welcomed as her company for the night, she did her best to keep the mood light and his spirits lifted. “I might have to beg to differ there - so far, my first impression of you? Stellar.”

It was moments like this that had Callie calling the resort paradise. Where else was it so easy to be an actual knightess in shining armor to a gorgeous blonde damsel in distress? “Oh I assure you that when it comes to benefits I always endeavor to make sure that all parties make out good,” she flirted with a playful wink. “Surrey.” She committed the name to memory, and the face it belonged to, falling into step beside the blonde as they headed towards the boardwalk. “Well now I’m forced to make a confession,” Callie admitted, slightly overdramatized chagrin on her features. “All the years I’ve worked here and the spa is the one venue I’ve never checked out.”

“Heroic and fair? Be still my heart.” The blonde clasped her hands to her chest for emphasis, easily returning the playful nature of the flirting. Meeting new people, decent people, was undoubtedly one of her favourite things about the resort; how strangers from completely different walks of life had a chance to meet people they likely wouldn’t off if it weren’t for being at this place. She smiled at the woman and her repeating of her name, before her look changed to one of feigned shock. “You’ve never been to the spa? That won’t do - you’ll simply have to come and visit me there sometime.” And the flirtation had found it’s way back in.

A small smile appeared on his face when he saw that she really appreciated his help, and that was one of the reasons why he helped people, because he could see that they really appreciated it. That was the only thing that he needed in return. “And that’s one of the reasons why I find worth to help others, people’s appreciation,” he admitted with the same smile. “Not the official one, no,” he let out a laugh. “But I like to welcome people here when I meet someone for the first time.”

If helping people when she could didn’t make Surrey happy enough on its on, here seemed to be proof that good karma came your way when you did, in the form of a kind stranger. Well, maybe not ‘stranger’ anymore, given they’d now traded names. “A bit of gratitude can go a long way,” the blonde concurred, happy she’d found someone who appeared to share her kind heart. “That’s a shame, you should really consider the career change. That welcome gets a solid A+ from me.”

Emerald hues took in the divine figure in front of her. Whoever this woman was, blue was definitely her color—even though she bet she looked amazing wearing anything, or nothing at all. At her response, the corners of her mouth twitched and a soft grin took its place on her lips. “Oh shoot, that explains it. I must’ve had too much caffeine in my three coffees today,” she quipped, gracefully offering a lighthearted excuse regarding the reason she was still away—despite the fact that the blonde woman didn’t ask for one in the first place. 

“Ahh, see, that’ll do it.” Surrey concurred with a solemn shake of her head, the gesture only lasting so long as she glanced back up and looked over at her with a smile. “They should really put better warnings on these things, but alas, what can us mere mortals do.” She joked as she made her way closer to the younger woman, setting her towel down before she settled herself next to her, just close enough to make conversing easier, acutely aware that she had the tendency to forgo personal space, a trait that might not be appreciated by everyone.
