In this episode we talk about how we improved the cat switch mechanic in Super Cat Tales 2 in order to remove backtracking and improve the gameplay of the game. Hope you guys like it ❤️

Off To The Adventure

We’ve just started working on a new cutscene for Super Cat Tales 2. This time our cats Alex, McMeow, and Shinji are heading to a distant land with an alpine environment. We felt travelling by train adds an unique charm to the story 🚂💫

Having such cutscenes is also a good idea to develop the story by adding dialogs between the cats discussing about their adventure and the challenges they’re gonna face.

Same Route, Different Cat

We attempted some speedrun with Alex but things didn't go as expected 💥😅

Same route, different cat. It was much easier playing this part with McMeow, mainly because of his skill to attack enemies. Even though he runs a bit slower than Alex we managed to complete this route in shorter time. An important point when designing levels in Super Cat Tales 2 is to make sure each route can be completed with every cat. This way switching cats is not mandatory to reach the level’s goal. Still, you’ll be able to complete some levels faster or unlock secrets with some cats in particular, giving value to the each cats’ special skill.

Shinji can dive deep into the ocean in one part of Super Cat Tales 2 - What or who do you think he's gonna find at the bottom?

Neutronized (the developer of many pixelated games such as Drop Wizard, Slime Laboratory and Super Cat Tales / Super Cat Bros. ) just released a trailer for Super Cat Tales 2. The game is about 50% done and will probably be released in the second half of 2018.
