Mile Long Scarf Attempt @superlongscarf-blog - Tumblr Blog

Are you really trying to make a mile long scarf? Or are you going to try to slightly break the record that Guinness has on their website, which is 150 meters (~492.13 ft)? You are way farther than any scarf I've ever seen, including a Dr. Who one I made a while back. I'm just curious about your whole process and how long you are actually going to end up with. Have you already put in an application to get your record put in? I can't think of anything I'd put in the description box. lol

The project goal is to reach a mile in length. Once I get closer I will probably fill out the paperwork for Guinness. They actually have a time limit on how long you can have your application (I seem to remember it’s a few months) and since it will take me longer to make than the application time I’ll wait until closer to my goal.

Currently the project is on hold since I have more pressing matters but I occasionally come back to the scarf. I’m also looking into other things that can be done with the project in the mean time.

Hello! Is this still ongoing?

Hello there! At this currently moment in time I am not working on the scarf. I have had quite a few life changes over the last year or so and I’m still trying to hammer things out. The scarf is still hanging out in its box and I plan to work on it more but currently I have less time on my hands to work on it.

everything going alright?

Hey there. So I guess the blog looks a little dead doesn’t it. I’m sorry about that. So on a personal level everything has been great. I have a new job with a theatre and I have even been doing lots of design work. Unfortunately that means that I haven’t been working on the scarf at all. There is also the size issue. It’s pretty big and I don’t know what to do when it becomes larger than it’s current box. I have had lots of ideas about how to streamline the whole process of moving it to where I want to sit and pulling it all out but it’s becoming more and more of a handful. So I decided to take a break and focus on work things. Once I have a better set up for it I will start sewing it again. To end on a positive note I have a few ideas about things to do with the scarf before I actually reach my goal. That will come later though because I need to get more info.Thank you for the question! Small update

Hello everyone. I have an update for you.

Work on the scarf has been really really slow. That’s why the photo update for February never came around. It just wasn’t enough to make a difference. A large reason for the slow progress is school/work I have pretty much doubled my work load from before I was taking the extra classes. Plus the issue of space is becoming more pressing. The box I’m currently storing the scarf in is the biggest one I had in my house and I just haven’t had time to go hunting for a new one to buy.

So to make this post short. Update is coming. Won’t be much but I’ll post it anyway. Thank you for following.

I hope so. It’s a little harder to google crochet records than it is knitting records. I’m pretty sure a mile would be a record .

I just got (back) into knitting, and I am not very good so far. I get the patterns and understand how they work but the stitches always turn out really sloppy and I always mess up. Seeing you make that beautiful scarf for so long and with beautifully uniform stitches inspires me to keep going with my knitting.

YAY! You can do it! Go! GO!

There are lots of times where I will be working on something and for one reason or another the stitches will become all misshapen. Practice and pay attention to what you’re doing are the best two things for knitting/crochet.

I though you would like to know walmart is having a great black Friday deal on yarn! The good brands that are like $4 a roll usually are $1.88! I spent around $60 on yarn. Pro: Christmas and birthdays are now covered. Con: some assembly required

This was the first time something like this has happened to me. It took me a few weeks to be able to sleep all the way through the night. But things seem to slowly be getting back to the way they were. I’m thankful for everyone’s kind words and thoughts they have sent.

Thank you for your kind words and thoughts. I am ssoooooo thankful that no one was hurt. We were worried about our cats but they both hid and they seem to be back to normal as well. Whenever I felt really down I would pull up everyone's messages on my phone. I’m so thankful for your messages.

I'm so sorry that you're having to deal with that. Homes are significant and someone unwanted not only entering and taking things but causing destruction must be terrible. I hope you are able to get the support you need and fix the damage. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.

We were able to get the repairs done over a few days. Aside from the door and a few minor items nothing was broken. Everything seems to be getting back to normal. Slowly but at least it’s something.
