Downtown Vancouver homeless people pack the streets asking for money and a helping hand. But this guy.. I’ve never been so inspired in my life. He wasn’t asking for money. All he wanted was for people to realize how good they’ve got it and smile. He’s not living the most amazing life, but he’s alive and has his dog and I could tell he’s honestly happy with getting by and being lucky enough to make strangers smile.

People; please just realize how good you’ve got it. Even when your life is complete and utter shit, think about how lucky you are to be here. Smile Dammit :)

"Do your best in everything."

One of the meaningful 5 hours of my life.

While having my maltreated hair treated, I'm also observing everything around me. Hearing the sound from the TV, the soft mumble of the air-conditioner, the roar-like sound of the hair blower, the gushing of water used for shampooing and the customer and stylists' chats made me think of a lot of things. Okay, whatever the case is, I don't actually stop thinking things.

My hair was being rebonded for the nth time. Rebonding requires the hair to be well-ironed after putting all the chemicals on it. “MY” stylist, yeah, I said “MY” because he is my trusted hair expert since that salon opened, has his family with him at work along with other stylists who also brought their families with them. I can see how much he love and value his family, how supportive his wife was, and how he ironed my hair near to perfection.

I admire his patience and his discipline to iron my hair beautifully, strand by strand, lock by lock, regardless of how time and energy consuming it was. Not because he has to do it but because he love what he's doing. I know it requires a lot of patience and passion for work to do it, but he did.

Overhearing their conversations made me realize things and get small portions of their lives to which I get inspirational thoughts from.

My stylist is one of the most sought-after stylists in that salon. Clients even call the salon just to have reservations for different kinds of hair services. I can see that he supports his wife and child in the best way he can, he never speak ill of his co-workers, and he always know when and how to give polite comments and suggestions to his clients with a smile.

One of the most important life lessons I learned from him is that even if he didn't finish college, even if he had started a family at an early stage and even my life is far better and comfortable than his, he still manages to deal with the shortcomings, strive to be a better person but still contented and happy with what he have, do his best in his current job and live his life fully. I believe that God has good plans for good people and He also knows who strives hard to live their lives in good ways. Karma always works its way. What you give is what you get returned. God is always good, so be good. :)
