How to use WikiHouse Commons

We wanted to see how WikiHouse works, so we registerd to their website. See how it works! 

First you need a g-mail adress, because everything is shared via Google Drive. Then you have to accept the WikiHouse Terms and Conditions and the Creative Commons License. Otherwise you cannot apply, as usually. But the list of rules isn’t as big as usally. It says that there is no guarantee for everything und that you use the information for your own responsibility. If you want to share information they have to be owned, accurate and unbiased. And at least, you are not allowed to use the name or logo of WikiHouse (So: they don’t share everything! ;-))

Wikihouse also does not pre-screen shared information, but it can delete them. 

Once you’re in, you first have to read a short guide how to use the folder-jungle. But still it is not that easy to handle this structure. Will there be many people who gonna employ to it? How “easy to use” should such a system be?

For getting an own folder, you have write the WikiHouse Team. They will make a new folder for your project, where you are the controller. Also they recommend you to mark at the options “Anyone with the link can view”, so that just invited people can edit. So is this project as open as it seems to be?

Can open source be a moral issue?

Open source is often promoted as the new and better way to do things, without challenging the responsibility of the ones providing the source. Can open distribution of knowledge become a moral issue and what are the limits?

But another group of architects embrace this idea of the participation of the people, of a collaboration between user and architect that can bring about different and interesting results.These architects realize architecture is never complete [nor truly theirs], life goes through it, tenants change – we’re just allowing that to happen more quickly.
