I think my major problem with PoOT is that it borrows from Stardew's gameplay in ways that are egregious if you're playing both games side by side (which is kind of hilarious because Stardew borrows so much from the early Bokumono games). The tool bag thing is mildly annoying also. Otherwise, game is fine, granted I'm playing it late *because* they needed to fix so many of the problems that were there on release. It's not a top-shelf entry in the Bokumono family, but honestly how many of the games in the franchise are top-shelf? I've had bigger problems with better games in the series.

As far as the dating options being meh? I have that problem with half the games in the series. They can't all be Toby or Ford.

Kind of mad we can't marry Clemens though like I know Lars and Beth are dating but there's no real excuse for that one

Square Enix has announced a new life sim rpg blend, Harvestella. Something has gone awry with the four seasons causing a deadly 5th to appear, the Quietus. It is a season of withering and death that seems to grow longer each year, and it up to you to find the truth behind it.

As you may expect from games like Story of Seasons or Stardew Valley, players will be able to farm, cook, fish, and interact with characters in their town. It is so far unknown if marriage is a gameplay feature.

As an rpg blend the gameplay does not restrict you to your fields. Harvestella's story calls on the player to venture into the overworld fighting monsters and exploring dungeons. Players will be able to choose a job, confimed so far are fighter, shadowalker, and mage, as well as team up with a party.

Harvestella will release on the Nintendo Switch and Steam November 4th, 2022

I am totally set on marrying Michelle in my current playthrough of AnB, because yes, she’s an asshole - but she at least is very much aware that she is. Unlike 90% of the rest of Echo Town, who are all lazy and entitled bums that DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Though I love Stardew Valley a lot, and though I can totally see why people prefer this game over most farming sims, my heart breaks a little every time they claim it’s better than HM/SoS-games.

Okay so I've been playing SV a lot lately and it's honestly great and has a lot of things the current SoS games don't have (having more than one "older" bachelor being the most appealing to me personally) but really nothing tops the best Harvest Moon/SoS games. Like I know a lot of people don't care as much for Pioneers of Olive Town but I just started it and it feels like coming home in a way Stardew doesn't.

Farm sims are just the superior genre of game though lbr

Kinda miss Gustafa, I wish they’d have more love interests who looked just WEIRD like he did. I’m talking like ‘I bought weed off of this dude back in 2016 and it permanently altered my mind and body’ sorta vibe. Not just the bachelors I want some unsexy shifty ladies too.

Full Confession:

I don’t get the love for Harvest Moon: Animal Parade. Yes, it’s charming and not a bad game but it’s so painfully slow at the start. It takes so long just to get through a day. On top of that, it feels so empty. Harmonica Town is pretty and all but why does it take minutes of running just to reach it? Why is everything so far apart??

I also really don’t get the acclaim for the rival couples because they feel so one note. I loved watching the rival heart events in FoMT but in AP, they just felt shallow like “pair the spares.” Yeah, the fandom does a good job at fleshing them out more. But that’s like going to a restaurant and bringing your own food. Playing this game made me feel like I could see wrinkles developing on my hands in real time. I hope it’s not the remake unless time moves faster.

IDK it's just a very good entry in the series? It's not the one you marathon on the weekends but the characters are really good, the graphics are pretty, the music is nice, the quest to complete the main story doesn't feel impossible, the translation is pretty good... If the pacing were better it would be perfect.
