Her excitement brought a slight smirk to curl on his mouth. Nebula was eager for them to find the Gems more than he for its obtainment meant Thanos would no longer exist. While Ro-Nan had no love for the Titan, Nebula had every reason to want him gone.
“Patience,” he chided lightly. “Trust that we are close, although extracting it may prove something of a challenge.”
They stopped in front of a hologram screen with an image playing. It showed the metal casing for what was once called the Orb locked in a cell of sorts. With a wave of his hand, the picture zoomed away to give a better perimeter of the location. It was a guarded room, the people wearing familiar dark blue uniforms that the Accuser detested.
“It is in the hands of Nova Corps. Star-Lord and his crew felt it would be safer in their hands,” Perhaps, but now that Ro-Nan returned in full, functional power there was nothing that would stop him. Nova Empire had enjoyed peace for a couple of years while Ro-Nan recouped; they were lucky he hadn’t decided to continue his campaign where he left off, otherwise the planet would be gone. Yet Ro-Nan knew there were more important matters. “They know our faces. They think me dead still and you are still at a high-level risk in there database. If they see you, our chances will be ruined.”
Ro-Nan turned to his lieutenant, the look in his eyes grave. “I trust you will go unseen?” he said nary a doubt Nebula would be caught.
“I do love a challenge.” Nebula counters as she circles the holographic image, no doubt surveillance from still loyal spies upon Xandar.
“They think this is safe?” She asks incredulously. It would be a challenge yes, but not impossible. She only needed to get into the room and everything else would be simple. She's a strategist, one of the best and her laser focus makes her deadly once she's set her sights on something she wants. A smile forms, a semblance of happiness hiding behind ill intents for this is just the first step to toppling a tyrant.
They'll retake this stone, and then they will return to Knowhere and lay siege to it and take the one that rests with the Collector. Thanos will be reduced to ash, and Nebula's freedom will be secured. “How many guards outside?” She brings her focus back to analyzing what little the surveillance hologram offers. It's view is limited, showing only the surrounding area and the four guards that stood guard within the vault. Nebula could cut through them in a manner of seconds if she had a need to.
The wheels of her mind were already turning, a plan already formulating on how to get in and out without alerting anyone. This time there would be no Guardians to stop her from achieving her ultimate goal.
