➝ During the early hours of Tuesday morning, a flight headed from Gimpo international airport to Portland international airport crashed shortly after taking off. Although the reason as to why the plane was brought down is not yet confirmed, flight officials are rumored believe it to be caused by the plane having collided with a flock of birds.

Within minutes of the airplane being ditched in the Han river, rescue boats, loaded with life guards and paramedics quickly accumulated at the scene, plucking a multitude of passengers from the wings of the plane, in a frenzied effort to save the many lives at risk. Bystanders even gathered in an attempt to help rescue both passengers and workers alike from the murky waters. A impressive two hundred and forty seven passengers, two pilots and three flight attendants were rescued from the wreckage, a number of which went on to be treated for injures that have not yet been specified. Though there was a large number of those who were rescued, the crash did not go without loss of life.

Song Qian, former assistant, aged 25 sadly perished in the crash, along with 27 year old art teacher, Lee Taewan and 34 year old restaurant owner Park Minseo. A moment of silence has been held by those who boarded the plane with the aforementioned, and already people have begun to pay their respects, a large number of flowers being left by the river bank, along with candles and incense sticks.

Bang Sunyoung, one of the air hostess' described the crash as being "completely petrifying." and went on to explain that "It just started smelling a lot like gasoline. There was a sickening banging and crunching noise, and you could see that the left engine had gone out because there were flames coming from it! The pilot told us to brace ourselves for heavy impact and we did." she also said "It wasn't something any of us had been expecting, but then again you don't expect the plane you're on to crash. It's a tragedy for those who lost their lives and my heart goes out to their family and friends." Seoul's transportation safety board have announced that they will be sending a team to further investigate the cause of the crash, an emergency number has also been released for people who believe they may have had relatives on the flight: 82-51-797-0114
