Vibeke Bertelsen (Udart) - Euphoria Neural Variations (8 gifs), 2016.
Iāve let my computer use a neural network to āpaintā for me by feeding it famous paintings and combine them with one of my gifs.
I selected 8 of the most expensive paintings (by living artists) ever sold. I thought it would be fun to play with iconic artworks in this way - as a gif artist Iām about as far removed as can be from that economy of the big auction houses.
The paintings used are from the top: Jeff Koons, Popeye, $650,000 Robert Rauschenberg, Factum II, $12 million Cy Twombly, āBlackboardā, $5.6 million Lucian Freud, Large Interior W11 (After Watteau), $5.8 million. Jasper Johns, Gray Numbers, Ā $40 million Brice Marden, Cold Mouintain, $10 million. Gerhard Richter, Three Candles, $5.4 million Frank Stella, Black Paintings, $5 million
The computer uses a neural network to take the artistic style from one image and applying it to one of my gifs - you can see the original here.
