“ok, but if a dude in a mask jumps out at me, i might throw hands. that’s not a threat, that’s just muscle memory.” connor was talking a mile a minute, his adrenaline high — though, truthfully, his rambling was his own mask for his nerves. “learned my lesson with despy. you see a mask and your instincts kick in, man. it’s like fight or flight, and i don’t do the flight part.”

he nudged david with his shoulder while they shuffled forward in line, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “you’re gonna owe me dinner and drinks when you freak out first. i’m thinking a nice steak… real big. real juicy.” he gave david a playful shove for good measure, laughing under his breath.

the laughter died a little when they reached the front of the line. the haunted house doors creaked open, letting out a burst of fog and screams. “uhhh—” his grin quickly fell, clapping his friend lightly on the back. “go ahead, boss. lead the charge. i believe in you.”

the moment his hand raised, david tumbled and fell onto the ground, looking at connor gobsmacked while holding his hand to his cheek. "YOU BITCH." his voice sounded a bit more high-pitched than his usual tone. all he could think right now was how he was about to kick connor's ass in the middle of a haunted house. what a way to start the night.

he didn't hesitate to fight back because he was not going to get another black eye. his eye had gone back to normal. "team bonding my ass. you HIT me for no reason!" the dramatics came out when those words came out. david was never beat the theater kid allegations. not that it bothered him since he was one, but that wasn't the problem at the moment. it was trying to get his friend off of him.

both of them were rolling around the floor, trying to up one another. the scare actor was watching and looked concerned. his hands were on connor's throat, choking him slightly, then another slap came on david's end. that's when the person called security this time. "we're not doing anything wrong. this is our love language! you wouldn't understand shit, you bi—" before he could continue, david was getting dragged off of his best friend. "let go of me, you dickhead. we were having a beautiful moment."

the security guard was dragging him and connor out and shoved them outside where david fell face first on the floor. "so much for fuckin' chivalry." he muttered to himself, glancing over at his best friend. "this place was shit anyone. they weren't even doing their job right, but..." slowly getting up and extending his hands. "we can go to a steakhouse ... i'll be paying it." that was his own way of saying sorry that i shoved you at the chainsaw person.
