rachel and percy being classmates freshman year at Goode High has got to be the funniest concept ever 💀 i mean come on guys. literally the most stereotypical duo ever. daughter of a billionaire + stepson of one of the teachers, they probably got away with doing crazy shit 24/7. percy showing up late to class all the time because of monsters and being like. the typical trouble kid with failing grades and dyslexia and adhd and 'obedience problems' but nobody's allowed to pick on him because he has the protection of Rachel Elizabeth Dare. it's the first time he hasn't been bullied in school and rachel takes advantage of this by enlisting him into committing the Weirdest Stuff Ever with her with his newfound social immunity. graffitting the new science building donated to the school by a racist because they Can, gossiping about the teachers, making fun of each other because they both fit so neatly into their archetypes and they know it, like yea bro. they're friends. trauma bonded not during the titan war but during the oppressive regime of Period 5 9th Grade English

Am I the only one who doesn't understand all the Calypso hate? (tbh a lot seems like misinformation)

Disclaimer: I haven't read ToA yet so this is based off main series and HOO!

First, her curse. when I read it I interpreted it as the gods will send someone she couldn't help but to fall in love with, not they cursed her and that made her fall in love with them!I will admit the age gap will always be weird, but she clearly was intended to be a teenager like all the mcs, Rick just can't write. Also, her "love" is understandsble, because she's completely alone, besides the occasional mortal or visit from Hermes of Hephaestus.

Second, Tartarus, Calypso didn't cast a spell and curse Annabeth! she had a bitter thought from jealousy and despair, which became a curse when they went to Tartarus be the creatures they fought. She was thinking bitterly, and had no way or reason to think/know what would've happened

I won't deny that she's a bad partner to Leo based off what I've heard, but that's kind of to be expected. she's been alone for thousands (3) of years, she didn't need a relationship, she needed time to live her life in freedom. Rick should not have written her to be in a relationship with Leo, or should've broken them up.

idk it seems like people want to villainize her to extreme proportions. Fanon also seems to get too mixed in with canon in the pjo fandom
