@svtiife
You were worth 20 of me.
the problem with personality tests and other similar quizzes is that they assume you know things about yourself. Which is simply not true

accidentally said "invasive thoughts" instead of "intrusive thoughts" today and actually I think I'm onto something. this thought does not belong here and it is harming the local ecosystem
I tried distracting a vampire by throwing rice at him, but I only had two grains with me so it didn't work. He counted them instantly. Then he asked me what I was even doing with exactly two grains of rice, and I explained how a bowl of rice tastes better if you spread it out over an entire day. I asked him if he was gonna suck my blood but he said no, he just had a lot more questions about the rice thing.
i love you soup and pasta and potatoes. my life would be nothing without you

The thing about evil is that it's not born, it's made. Even the worst of the worst in Aramán were not simply created that way (except maybe Azgra I guess), but are byproducts of their environment. And that kind of evil can be unlearned, if given enough care and grace.
The seekers-- more specifically Julien and Thaisha, of course, have no obligation to give any kind of grace to House Tachonis, who have done nothing but kill and hurt and corrupt their people. But Occtis? He is in the midst of unlearning the evil that was taught to him, and he wasn't even that deep in the weeds of it all. Julien and Thaisha look at House Tachonis and see irredeemable monsters, while Occtis looks at them and sees.. people. His family. The people who raised him.
Tertia was just like him. The youngest child in a Tachonis family line, desperate to prove herself to her family, to be worth something in a house where your name and loyalty mean everything and individuality doesn't matter if you can't be useful. Tertia was just a person, and if she had gotten the chance to see the world outside her house like Occtis did at the penteveral, her life might have turned out a lot differently.
And Brennan does a lot to humanize Tertia as a person, both before and after we see what she's become. She had a giant pet scorpion named Saharkis that grew up with her. She sees its remains on Occtis and is scared and horrified and angry-- she's torn between revulsion at this family disgrace having murdered her beloved pet, and the deep-seated obedience her house instilled in her. Her father loved her-- at least enough to write "I will miss her dearly" on record-keeping documents that wouldn't benefit from the aside. She loved her family enough in return that her last words in this world were "Did I do a good job?"
Did she know what she was getting into? Did her family tell her the risks? Or did they throw her to the wolves, knowing they raised her loyal enough to walk blindly to her death if it meant furthering the goals of their House?
House Tachonis as an institution is certainly evil, but everything we've seen of the youngest generation shows children shaped by fear, born only to be used in service to some great ascension that they never asked to be a part of. It's no wonder Occtis has complicated feelings about Julien's quest to murder his entire family.
Thjazi realized what would happen to Azune as soon as he laid eyes on him at the execution.
btw azune needing to comfort someone and copying what hal did with him when he was the one panicking. another thing to add to my pile of autistic azune evidence
"I think my dad would have been a lot like you."
you can pet but you’ll probably get shocked
