Italians know nothing about pizza. You go there they give you a fat round piece of bread with tomato sauce and three sad pieces of cheese. I don't care who created it, they don't know how to do it and tourists just say it's "so much better" because they use good quality tomato sauce. As if anyone else couldn't just get good tomato sauce and make an actual pizza with stuff on it.
Italian-Americans are the true inventors of pizza
would you like me to hijack this post to teach you the most American way ever to satisfy a pizza craving? of course you would🙃
take a can of tomato paste, add a splash of olive oil, ¼ teaspoon basil, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ¼ teaspoon oregano, ½ teaspoon onion powder, and a dash of parsley, marjoram, rosemary if you got 'em. mix well. voila! pizza sauce
optional: melt two tablespoons of butter, mix in ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
take a can of crescent roll dough, separate out the 8 triangles. Spread some of the pizza sauce on each triangle.
Add a piece of provolone and a handful of turkey pepperoni slices to each triangle (you can use regular pepperoni but it will make the rolls greasier) Roll each triangle up tight, drizzle with the melted butter if you got it.
Bake pizza rolls according to the package directions for the crescent rolls. Stir a little parmesan into the leftover pizza sauce, nuke until hot. voila! dipping sauce for your quick, cheap pizza rolls. enjoy😋
So the pizza wars begin, again. The recipe just above might taste good but whatza "pizza roll" - "pizza" means pie.
The REAL way to start is BY MAKING FRESH DOUGH. This is cookery; it involves yeast. I've never done this in my life but my brother-in-law has, as well as thousands of little joints all over this country. If you want to spend the time, it's on the web. It can be turned into a modest flat circle with a roller, w/o being tossed at the ceiling. Otherwise, you can buy it in balls from Whole Foods etc. or some nice pizzerias.
As stated above, tomato sauce is not a problem, get a can that was packed in Italy. Fresh basil is an excellent add.
The natural cheese for pizza is MOZZARELLA. The finest result is from milk-oozing fresh mozz, but only if you have a 900 degree F. oven. (My brother-in-law does, on his Pennsylvania porch, and has also made fine small pizzas with gruyere or brie - that's for fanatics.) At home, use regular whole-milk mozz. Some people mix mozz with provolone.
This is a free country and you can put anything else you want on top. However, PEPPERONI IS THE SIN AGAINST THE HOLY GHOST. The burn of pepper wipes out the delicate beauty occurring when dairy meets tomato in a warm place. If you want to destroy your taste buds early in life, just throw salt anchovies all over it!
it ain't pizza if it doesn't have pineapple

stop keeping your eye on the ball. the ball is a lure- a carrot dangling just ahead, a rabbit for the greyhound, coursing endless circles without prize, or relevance.

Some sadistic son of a bitch brought a one thousand piece puzzle of a Henri Matisse painting to work.
seriously, F this puzzle. damn you, Matisse!
Original post was June 3rd. We "completed" the puzzle today, July 21st. It is missing one piece. ONE!!! It's red. Damn you, Henri!
silence is the wind, the walls, the walking spider across the ceiling. I hear them, my thoughts, loud. no, I say. stop, I implore. it all falls apart. it all comes together. I turn off the noise: the news, the shows, the music, the people, the mob. the leaves, rustling; the crawling clouds across the deep, blue sky; this is peace.
