"Pleasure to be working with you."
Three dollars find their way to the girl’s outstretched palm - accompanied by a look which clearly states "you know how this works". Half before, half afterwards - she might be a child, but no one would know how to haggle that snappily without knowing how deals over information work.
“Eaten, did you say?!” Goodness - that could be exaggeration; but if she says they filmed it then that could be all Tintin needs to get a decent foothold in his investigation of this strange, supernatural little town. “Great snakes! I think I would very much like to to see that video tape, if it’s not too much trouble!”
A pause. Isn’t there something he’s missed? Oh, yes, of course! “My name’s Tintin, by the way. I’ve come from Belgium to follow stories about this place for the newspaper I work for. You’re really giving me a hand here; thank you.”
"There's an island in the middle of the lake that's actually a giant head. It's terrifying!" Her tone is perhaps a little too bubbly for her words, but she likes to look back on it and laugh. It was a pretty fun day, all things considered. She pockets the money before turning her attention to him again -- excitement growing when he starts the introduction thing.
"I'm Mabel! I'm staying here with my grunkle Stan for the summer. You work for a newspaper? That's cool! I've been in the papers before -- me and my brother totally exposed the town's creepy psychic as a fraud. He's in jail now."
She's about to continue before she hesitates, giving Tintin a sort of look that can only be described as you still owe me money. Stan would be so proud of her. "That's a story for another time, though. How'd you like to hear about that rainbow stream?"
