​My latest painting of Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer) from Blade Runner. I have always been fascinated by Hauer's incredible facial expressions - how emotions passed by like light breezes and how his eyes could tell more than a thousand words. In this portrait I wanted to capture just that last, trembling spark of life and humanity.

​I wanted to capture the moment Roy Batty transcends his programming. By using leaf metal for the halo, I wanted to turn this replicant into a martyr. He wasn't just a machine; he was a soul searching for more life.
