i say this periodically so people know– it’s okay to tag my artwork with #kin or #me! i love it! i love people connecting to my work that way! a kin feel is not a common thing to evoke in someone and if you feel it to anything i make then i’m glad i was able to satisfy that part of you. the idea of my work sitting in people’s kin tags as unpredictable self-image affirmation is really lovely.

i used photoshop for drawing these, which is the first time i’ve used photoshop for drawing since i can... remember. it’s been a while, but sai’s brushes just weren’t working for me? i really love this brush once i got the hang of it in the bottom sketches. i love it, the transparency really makes me ‘carve out’ the shapes of the legs whic his always my favorite part of pony drawings so.. im loving that, its a different sort of drawing than im used to but im, loving it, i love how soft it looks and want to continue to play with it...

i have a weird relationship with art right now; i worry that i’ve forgotten or that i’ll never get good again because i don’t really have time to practice. i hate drawing anything that isn’t ponies because ponies is all i am happy with when i draw it. my hand also hurts after drawing; i’m not sure if i’m pressing too hard or if i just lost the muscles... i feel scared + anxious about a lot of drawing whenever i stop to think about it, but it feels okay in the moment, so i’m going to keep working on it. i know there’s joy to be found in this, even if my skills never reach the point where i’m satisfied with them -- even if i have to learn everything else aside from ponies all over again, i still want to try.

but in the meantime im going to draw lots of turnips.
