to be easy to know
To be easy to know means other people don’t have to work unusually hard to understand who you are, what you feel, and where they stand with you.
An easy-to-know person usually:
expresses preferences instead of always saying, “Whatever you want”
shares thoughts and feelings without requiring someone to extract them
behaves consistently enough that others can form an accurate picture of them
gives clear signs of affection, interest, discomfort, or disagreement
allows themselves to be seen as imperfect, specific, and occasionally inconvenient
Being hard to know often comes from self-protection: adapting to whoever is present, hiding strong reactions, intellectualizing feelings, avoiding direct requests, or waiting for others to prove they care before revealing anything meaningful. The person may feel internally complex and emotionally intense while appearing agreeable, distant, or blank from the outside.
So the distinction is less about how much depth you have and more about how much reliable access you give other people to that depth.

- dead wife tony, our neighbor at the end of the block, asked me on a date. the new pinocchio. he’s like forty years older than me, i have less than zero attraction and that movie looks terrible. i said ill pass but i wish id lied and made up an excuse to pad the rejection. he’s a nice enough guy, if a little weird. i’m weird too. still afraid he’s going to one wish willow me though
- after a month of deliberating and a year as an art history undergrad, i applied to an online public admin bachelors program at a college a city over. mourning my art history degree, mourning being on campus which i loved, mourning lost time and the next three years of dry coursework. but it fits my long term goals better than art history, as much as i adore art history. trying to remind myself that even if public admin isn’t as interesting, it’ll lead to meaningful work. trying to remind myself that there are so many art history resources available outside of college and i have the agency to educate myself
- the feels like was 115+ most of the day and the ac doesn’t reach my room very well. i spent most of the afternoon sitting on pillows next to the vent, sipping iced sencha and knitting. im rewatching parks and rec because i don’t laugh enough. it was a good sunday even if i did feel a little anxious to start. not being able to go on walks when it’s so hot out is hard on my mental health.

Why bloom?
You'll wilt in a few weeks.
What's the point?
The orchid has no answer. It blooms anyway.
