I always have to work on being easier on myself, because over-thinking is my greatest adversary when it comes to life, work, love, friendship, career. I’ve been a bit better lately and realising when I’m having a low-self-esteem day that’s because of how I’m wired, not because everyone hates me.

one of the most underrated things in Taylor’s songwriting is the way she groups words together and the effect it has, like “sink and drown and die” or “break and burn and end” or “something good and right and real” or “a secret I’m hoping, dreaming, dying to keep”

like in each of those cases each word has a very specific effect and when you group it together, in one short phrase you can get a beautiful image of what Taylor is trying to convey. “break and burn and end” conveys a specific order: she thought that love broke apart, went up in flames, then came to an end. it’s similar in komh: you see that the secret is something she’s first hoping for: a word without too much passion. but by the end, she’s dying to keep it: it shows how quickly the love became incredibly important to her.

I just love that this is a technique she’s used in so many different contexts and I think it’s a really intelligent way of showing how she’s feeling

You know what? We weren’t wrong. There were 7 palm trees, she was on the 6th step, there were 5 holes in the fence, and quite frankly, it isn’t our fault that we were one step ahead of her the entire time and she didn’t think of it. What are we supposed to say? Sorry we’re smarter than you, Swift? Maybe work harder next time!
