Not My Jesus

Seeing the individuals who protested trans bathrooms due to the need to “protect our vulnerable women and girls from predators” DEMAND that no further investigation be done into ACTUAL allegations that a man nominated to the Supreme Court sexually assaulted multiple women, is one of the most disheartening things I’ve ever experienced. And they invoke the name of Jesus to justify both.

This isn’t my Jesus.

This makes me sad for Jana. Although it seemed like they were probably aware of the rumors, now there is no doubt. I hope this doesn't cause any problems with her friendship or her being pressured into marrying someone she doesn't want to.

I DO NOT like it. I think a lot of Christians use this as an excuse to be a jerk and use it in the most unloving way.

I mean, when Jesus was talking to prostitutes, he didn’t announce: “Hey y’all, I hate that this woman is a prostitute but I’m gonna be nice to her anyways.”

Also, this is often used to talk about things that conservatives believe to be sins that have become a major part of a person’s identity. The person can’t separate the two. To say you HATE a major part of someone’s identity is to say you hate them. 

Where’s your outrage at politicians? At the sins of conservatives? No, friend. You can’t say you hate sin only when you want to use it as a “Jesus approved” reason to cut someone off.

I’m undercover in fundie Facebook land

A couple months ago, I came across a FB group of fundie women. There was an application to join, and I BS-ed all the answers based on my knowledge of fundies and how I thought one would answer them. I was let into the group and ever since, I’ve been screen shotting posts with some of the more surprising things I’ve come across.

The vast majority of these women believe that women should not work outside the home, birth control is a sin, public schools are of the devil, and obeying your husband is the most important responsibility of a wife. About half of them are anti-vax and anti-medicine in general.

To my knowledge, there are no Duggars or Bates in the group, but there is one fundie who’s name you might recognize.

When I post screenshots, I’ll black out the names of women and the name of the group. I’ll also organize them by hashtags by topic. I want to emphasis that none of the beliefs these women ascribe to are mine!

I’ve been following fundie bloggers as I see them, but there are so many so if I missed you send me an ask!
