It wasnโt quite late enough to be considered evening, so there was no bitter cold, which sometimes came with the territory of being kind of close to Dragonspine. But, the weather was so nice right now, so it was really easy to just forget.ย

The grass in Dihua Marsh is comfortable and almost soft, sweet flowers almost guaranteed to brush against your ankles. But, this time of day, there is the added charm of the sky turning to a soft gold, illuminating everything in an inescapable ethereal aura.
You lean your head back, relishing in the warm breeze that tousled your hair comfortably. When touches of gold and orange cascade over your skin it feels warm. But nearly as warm as fingertips that brush your cheek afterwards.
โHave you ever watched the sunset here, Xiao?โ When the question passes your lips, itโs nothing more than an innocent and fleeting whisper. But it doesnโt escape Xiaoโs ears, nothing you do seems to go unnoticed. Youโre looking at him now, the magnificent sight of the sky long forgotten.

You gently put your hand over his, which was now caressing your cheek. When Xiao affectionately smiles at you, his cheeks reddening, you canโt help but smile too. His expression was filled with warmth and affection. The sun descending in the distance had nothing on the way he looked at you right now.
โWhy is it different?โ You lean in closer, curiosity and hope flickering in your eyes.ย

Xiao moves a little closer, despite the flush in his own cheeks, and gently presses a kiss to your cheek. Xiaoโs kisses are soft and gentle, always followed by a soft exhale of breath. When his hand finally moves away from your face, settling in his lap now, you can't help but miss the contact.ย
โWhy donโt weโฆwatch more sunsets together?โ You offer.ย
Setting your head in his lap gently, you smile up at him. You just canโt help it. But despite how much his face was flushed, surprise flickering in his eyes, he doesnโt drop his smile. โThank you, I wouldโฆreally appreciate that.โ Xiaoโs voice was as affectionate as ever, golden eyes meeting yours. Hidden within the depths of gold, you could easily tell there was an intense feeling of yearning behind it all. โYou lookโฆreally pretty.โ
You canโt help but giggle, โIt must be the way the sun is hitting me, hm?โ
โNo.โ Xiao said firmly, his voice still remained soft. โAlwaysโฆyouโre always pretty to me.โ
Your cheeks felt warmer, a sight that made Xiao chuckle softly. He leaned down, pressing his forehead to yours. Now, you could feel how warm his face is, he is just as flustered as you are. It was comforting to know you were both in the same position.
You stay like that for a while, it was like you were in a dream, dreams with Xiao were always sweet dreams, after all. Though, you did worry about his neck aching or his legs becoming stiff, you didnโt say a word about it.
โI love you,โ you say instead.
Xiao doesnโt quite say it back in words. Instead, he presses a kiss to your lips gently as the sun continues to descend. And, with that, you know that he means to say โI love you too.โ
