okay final review: i really liked it ! i prefer it to hackney diamonds, i feel like the songs themselves are just better and the few clunkers aren’t as obvious bc everything else is so good. the production issues i had with hackney diamonds are also resolved here, and they just sound so fresh. i love it. i also really loved how everyone had moments to shine, i felt more of keith on this album than diamonds (one of my biggest gripes with that record tbh - where was my man!!!). i wish ronnie was featured more tho, its kinda ridiculous he’s still relegated to sideman until track 13 of 14, when his part there is easily top 5 on the whole album. overall a pretty solid stones album, id rank it amongst the bridges to babylon/steel wheels era of their music - some stand outs but properly rated. maybe a bit underrated. 8/10

i like rough and twisted and have since release ! the guitars are absolutely classic stones and i really appreciate how gritty it feels like their classic sounds. i love the homage to bobby keyes with the sax lyric after a lyric saying muddy water too :] mick’s harp playing is also good as usual unfortunately

in the stars is also great! i think the first two single choices were great at getting hype built. i will say my only gripe with the song is just sounds like so many of their other songs all wrapped together - not bad but just a little… you know. retreading the place.
