My deepest apologies to @sushiwriterhere for how late this is, but it's done and posted and I thank you for inspiring me to stretch my writing skills and creative process with this one. I tried to take an unconventional direction with your prompt so I hope it's not too left field for folks. I had fun either way ;)
I literally wrote this, read through it once, and posted it. So be gentle.
Summary: Bob hasn't been intimate in a very long time and now that someone has caught his eye, hes panicking. He needs an education and Phoenix and her girlfriend are all too happy to oblige.
Pairing: Robert "Bob" Floyd x Female Reader x Natasha "Phoenix" Trace
Length: 6K
Warnings: Smut. So. Much. Smut. Bob Fucks. Phoenix Fucks. (MINORS DNI)
After the uranium mission, Bob and Phoenix returned to their original units at Lemoore. This time, though, as friends rather than strangers. They ate lunch together often, went out with friends on the weekends, and had a standing date to watch movies and eat junk food at Phoenixâs apartment every Wednesday night. Often you would join your girlfriend and her new BFF for Wednesday night movie night when you didnât have to work. Bob made for a great third wheel to your dynamic duo and you both loved having him around.
One Wednesday though, Bob showed up for movie night, soaked from the rain with his own dark clouds shading his normally happy, shining eyes. Something was obviously bothering him as he stumbled into the foyer, fumbling with a grocery bag while trying to kick off his squishy tennis shoes.
âWhat happened to you?â Phoenix asked as she came in from the kitchen to take the bag while you returned with a towel.
âIâm just havinâ a day is all. Sorry for the mess.â He took the towel from you with a sullen expression of gratitude and moved further into the apartment.
Luckily, he was over so often that he had some spare clothing and comfort items in the guest room. Bob went to change while you and Phoenix prepped the living room with chip bags, beers, and a soda for Bob. You were just pulling up Netflix when he returned, looking almost worse than he did at the door. He walked over to the couch and flopped down next to Phoenix. Her dark eyes met yours where you stood in the middle of the living room with the TV controller. You both shared similar looks of concern and the movie was suddenly forgotten.
Phoenix spoke up as you turned and sat on the floor in front of where she and Bob were on the couch.
âOk buddy, somethings obviously up. You were fine when we left the hangar earlier. What gives?â
Bob let out a sigh and rotated his head until his neck cracked. There was a war happening inside his head and you could tell he wasnât sure whether to unleash it or not. You reached your hand out and rested it on his knee, trying to reassure him.
âWhatever it is, weâre here for you. It canât be that bad.â You said gently.
Bob huffed a sarcastic laugh and reached up to rub his face vigorously with both hands under his glasses. He then growled and threw his hands up in the air in defeat.
âFine. Iâll tell yall. But you gotta promise not to make fun of me.â
You shared another questioning look with Phoenix then she put her arm around his shoulders. âBob, we would never make fun of you.â
âThatâs absolutely not true. You both picked on me for two weeks over the vomit incident at Six Flags.â He accused.
âThat was different, and you know it, Floyd. This seems serious, so spill it.â Phoenix said with a squeeze to his shoulders.
âYall remember Rebecca? The gorgeous red head we met last month at the farmerâs market?â
You and Phoenix both nodded wordlessly while staring at him intently to continue.
âWeâve been on a couple of dates now and I really like her. I mean, really like her.â He said emphatically.
When neither of you spoke up, he huffed again and continued. Beads of sweat were starting to pearl on his forehead as he became more and more visibly nervous.
âUh, well. I invited her over to my place for dinner this weekend.â
âWhat!? Bob! Thatâs awesome!â Phoenix shouted as she practically leapt off the couch. She smiled brilliantly at him, and you smiled at her enthusiasm for her friend.
âNo. You donât understand. Sheâs coming to my apartment. Alone. At nighttime.â
Phoenix smiled even bigger. âBob, Iâm pretty sure we understand the intentions of this mission.â
He looked up at her with disdain and you realized something about this so called mission was really troubling him, so you spoke up. âBabe. Calm down.â You said with a small laugh at the sour expression Nat gave you.
âPhoenix. Look. Iâm not a virgin, but, uh,â he hesitated âit was my high school girlfriend. We were together for 3 years. We did it. Then she broke up with me when I left for college.â He looked between you both with a wounded puppy expression as he sank further into the couch.
âRobert James Floyd. Are you telling me you havenât had sex in a decade?â Phoenix asked as she placed her hands on her hips. Most likely she didnât mean for it to sound as accusatory as it did, but you intervened quickly, nonetheless.
âBobâ you started with as gentle a tone as you could muster âhave you had any physical encounters with a woman since your high school girlfriend?â
His face began to flush bright red, and you watched Phoenix's dark eyes go wide with shock. She regained her seat next to him on the couch and grabbed one of his large hands in both of her much smaller ones. You were thankful that she calmed down before he ran screaming into the torrential downpour outside.
He cleared his throat âIâve had a few make out sessions but nothing concrete. I was so focused on school and then training that the opportunity never presented itself. Who wants the geeky guy, right? Next thing I knew a decade had passed and here I am, thirty years old with the chance for intimacy right in front of me and Iâm freaking out. I donât know what to do. Iâm not sure where to put my hands or mouth or anything. How do I know sheâs enjoying it? What do I do if she isnât? Sheâs so perfect and I want things to be perfect for her and I just know Iâll mess this up. Arggghhhâ he grunted as he stood, pulling his hands through his hair. He started pacing around the room, almost making you dizzy from your seat on the floor. This was a truly conflicted man and you felt so bad for him. He obviously cared about this woman and his want to be good for her was endearing. Â
While he walked around the room continuing to rant about his lack of carnal knowledge of the female species, your eyes once again connected with Natâs, and you could see her gears were turning. Nothing good ever came from the plotting expression she was now wearing while deep in thought. Nat slid onto the floor and came to a stop on all fours next to you. She raised her hand to whisper an idea into your ear and you whipped around to look at her with surprise. Her eyes implored you and she shook her ass in the air, enticing you. You considered her proposition for a moment more before whispering to her âDoesnât hurt to offer I suppose.â
Phoenix smiled then sat back on her heels before rising. She held out her hands to you and pulled you up, her arms wrapping around your waist once on your feet. She placed a chaste kiss to your cheek then released you, entirely too much excitement gleaming in her eyes. Just as Bob turned to pace back Phoenix stepped up, blocking his path and bringing him to a halt. You were always amused by their comical height difference. Bobâs frantic eyes looked down into the smirking face of Phoenix as she placed both hands on his chest.
âBob. We have a plan. So, take a breath.â He stared at her, then looked over at you, then back to Phoenix, looking more perplexed than ever.
âA plan?â
âYup. No movie tonight. Instead, weâre going to teach you.â
He opened his mouth to speak, but stopped, brought up short as he began to realize what she meant by her statement. Phoenix slid her hands across his chest, down his long arms, and intertwined her fingers into his with a reassuring expression.
Bob stammered âBut, uh, Pheeâ he choked on a chuckle âI. Teach me?â he finally asked. You closed the gap between you and your girlfriend, placing your body flush to her back and reaching around to wrap your hands around their connected ones. You smiled at Bob as his eyes met yours. âLet us help you, Bob.â You implored gently âNatâs bi, Iâm gay. I can guide you while she handles the physical aspects. We wouldnât be doing anything we werenât comfortable with. But we wonât do this if you arenât comfortable.â
âYeah, and just consider it a maneuvers exercise like work.â Phoenix interjected. âYour mission, should you choose to accept it, is to make me cum. But this time the enemy is a friendly and weâre going to walk you through it step by step. End of the night youâve gained experience, weâve all had a fun night we can laugh about another decade from now, and you pounce Rebecca this weekend knowing exactly what you need to do!â
You just knew Bob was going to pass out. He was sweating profusely now, his eyes darting between yours and Natâs as you both squeezed his hands firmly. In the silence something seemed to come to him suddenly. His eyes focused again, and his lips closed into a thin line.
âWouldnât this be like cheating on Rebecca?â
He had a point, you thought, but Phoenix jumped in always ready with an answer.
âHave you and Rebecca discussed exclusivity yet?â She asked.
âWell, no, we havenât. Weâve been on exactly two dates, and I know sheâs seen someone else during that time. So, I guess, the answer would be, no? But I'm hoping to impress her this weekend so we can discuss being exclusive, and I feel like this is my one shot to do it.â
You felt a little relief with his answer. You wouldnât want anything to ruin the friendship your girlfriend had developed with Bob.
âSounds good to me. Besides. We do this as an educational exercise, blame the alcohol that we havenât actually consumed, and tell no one. But only if youâre comfortable and trust us. We can always bust out some anatomy charts and porn if youâd prefer?â You rolled your eyes at your girlfriendsâ suggestion although you knew she was serious. When it came to facing a difficult task, she was nothing if not methodical with her plan of attack. Â
âBob. The most important part of this is that you are relaxed and willing. If at any time you arenât, we can stop.â You added for reassurance as you slid your hands up Natashasâ arms then rested them gently on her shoulders.
Bob started to speak then stopped. His eye lids slammed shut and he took a deep breath, obviously working through the tennis match in his head. Then, something seemed to click for Bob. All the lines on his face relaxed and as he opened his baby blues, the clouds seemed to roll out. He stood up a little taller, his hands still intertwined with Natâs, and he nodded once.
âOk yeah. Letâs do it.â
You smiled at him as Nat reached up and gave him a gentle peck on the cheek.
âLetâs do it indeed.â She mused then flashed you a sassy smile as she led Bob down the hall by one hand to her room. You just shook your head with a grin and followed them. Your girlfriend had an insatiable appetite for physical touch, and you werenât the least bit surprised she was willing to be the sacrificial lamb for Bobs sexual awakening. You just hoped she would be gentle with him. At least a little, anyways.
Phoenix dropped Bobs hand once everyone was in the room and moved over to a Bluetooth speaker on her dresser. She flipped it on, and soft music began to quietly fill the room as she placed her phone on the stand next to it. Bob stood awkwardly in the middle of the room, just watching Nat as she swept around the room lighting a few candles and drawing the curtains. She spoke as she flitted around. "First lesson Bob. Set the mood."
You closed the bedroom door behind you and looked up at the imploring blue eyes that were staring at you.
âAre you sure you donât mind me, uh, you know. Doing, you know, this, with your girl?â he whispered to you.
You gave him a gentle smile. âBob, that woman right there lives for physical touch. She will have her way with you and then have her way with me because sheâll be so revved up, so Iâll win in the end as well. Trust me, Iâm totally ok with this.â And you winked as you brushed past him.
Phoenix turned from the curtains just as you moved into her space and wrapped your arms around her waist, pulling her close. She giggled slightly before your lips were gently massaging hers in a deep kiss. You pulled back and looked into her chocolate eyes. âNat, go easy on him. Try not to scare the poor boy.â You whispered quietly into her lips. She only giggled again then shimmied out of your embrace and slinked to the middle of the room where Bob was still standing hunched like a cornered mouse.
Phoenix ran her hand across Bobs lower back as she moved around his side to face him, grinning like a cat toying with her prey the whole time. You quietly moved to the other side of the king size bed, stripped down to your basic black bra and panties, and sat up against the wrought iron headboard.
Phoenix looked past Bob and scoffed. âOh, not fair! Youâre distracting me already!â she pouted. Bob looked over at you, flushed red, then averted his eyes again. You just shook your head with a small laugh. âPhee, concentrate. Youâll get your turn with me later.â Her smile grew wider before she turned her focus back to Bob.
âOk Bob letâs talk making the first moves. Think of this like our pre-flight check list. Youâre in the cockpit and it's time to warm up the engines and prep for go. Youâre going to take charge of the situation just like you do when weâre getting ready to fly. So, what would be on your checklist to get things started in a sexual situation?â
You stifled a snort behind your hand as you watched Bob turn bright crimson, and begin to stammer with wide eyes. Phoenix looked at you quizzically. âWhat? I thought Iâd put this in terms he would understand.â She said defensively.
âNatasha. Heâs not working on an airplane. Do you want him to treat you like one? Rebecca? Maybe soften your tactic just a little babe?â you implored through a weary grin.
Phoenix huffed then blew a loose strand out of her face. âFine.â She said bluntly before looking up at Bob. âSorry.â
âSâok Phee.â He croaked.
âBob, you still ok?â you asked, wanting to protect him every step of the way.
âYeah, Iâm good.â he said as he hesitantly slid his hands around Natâs shoulders then down her back, enveloping her in his broad wingspan. Her face registered disbelief at his sudden boldness, then her arms wrapped around his waist, and she smiled up at him. You grinned too. âGood boy.â Nat cooed and bob let out a nervous chuckle. âNow what do you want to do to me?â she asked.
He took in a breath then answered on the exhale. âIâd like to kiss you.â
âThat sounds like a great first step Bob. Go ahead and kiss her.â You encouraged gently.
Bob leaned down and connected his lips to Natashas. It was extremely hesitant at first but then Phoenix leaned in reassuringly and he began to deepen the kiss. You watched as their tongues started to dance. âNat how does that kiss feel?â you asked.
Never breaking apart, Natasha moaned into Bobs mouth, and you watched with pride as Bob slid his hands down her sides, letting them come to rest on her ass. Another moan escaped from Phoenix, and you praised Bob. âVery good Bob. Did you hear her moan? Thatâs a good sign. Keep going.â
Bob broke their kiss and released Phoenix, a whimper falling from her mouth. Before she could protest though, Bob removed his glasses, tossing them to the side. He reached behind his head with one hand and pulled his shirt off in one swift move. He may not have been your cup of tea but even you were impressed with the agility of the shirt removal and the taught abs he kept hidden away. âThat was hot Bob. Right Nat? Wasnât that hot?â
Natasha said nothing though, only smirked wickedly. She drank in the sight of Bob in nothing but his jeans as she ran her fingers over his stomach, tracing the lines of his muscles. âOh, that was very hot.â She oozed and licked her lips. Bob seemed spurred on by her reaction, pulling her back in for another long and sloppy kiss. Maybe a little too sloppy. âBobby, try to keep the kisses softer, less moisture.â You watched as he swallowed and backed his tongue off a little, choosing to nip gently at her bottom lip before dipping his tongue into her mouth slowly. Natasha moaned again and something in your own abdomen jumped. God damn your girlfriend made the most beautiful noises when she was enjoying herself.
âYou have her attention, Bob. Take advantage of that.â
He broke the kiss again, staring into Phees eyes as his hands gently grabbed the hem of the black oversized t-shirt she was wearing. As he began to lift it, you decided this was a great teaching moment.
âBob, hang on.â You instructed calmly and he did, looking up at you anxiously. You continued. âThis is a perfect chance to build some anticipation. Before you rip her shirt off, skim your hands along her skin as you raise it. Let your hands wander and build some electricity. Appreciate her body and sheâll appreciate you.â He nodded once then began kissing Nat again as his hands slid under the hem and across her smooth stomach. You watched intently as his large hands glided down her sides and her hips then slid around to her bare ass. He gave her cheeks a gentle squeeze and both he and Nat let out almost matching whimpers. You smirked, pleased to have a student who learned quickly.
âShe has a great ass, huh Bob?â you asked, and he nodded into their kiss. âTell her. Complement her.â
Bob let his kisses wander up from her mouth, across her cheek, to her ear lobe then he whispered into Natâs ear âGod I love your ass.â And he squeezed it again. Natasha let her head roll back with a moan and you realized you were starting to feel a little warm. You loved her ass too.
With her neck exposed, Bob trailed kisses down from her ear all the way to the sensitive spot where her neck met her collar bone. You decided Bob didnât give himself enough credit, he was doing a good job relaxing and following instinct. You knew Natasha wasnât faking with her little kitten purrs as he worked the spot with quick licks and nibbles. It was becoming harder for you to remain an impartial instructor in this activity, you couldnât help it, Natashas pleasure gave you pleasure, no matter how she was getting it.
His hands moved from her ass and began to lift the shirt, unhurriedly. Bob skimmed his fingers along the soft skin of Natashas hips and sides, stopping the assault on her neck to remove the black fabric completely. She stood there in a purple thong and bra you were sure made Bobâs heart skip a few beats at the same time yours did.
âPhoenixâ he whispered adoringly. âYouâre incredible. I just want to. I want toâŚâ he trailed off while holding her hands and looking up and down her body in appreciation.
âShe is so gorgeous, isnât she Bob?â you asked huskily. âWhat is it you want to do? Donât tell me, show us.â
He didnât have to be told twice. Bob let go of Natâs hands and cupped her breasts over her bra. He leaned down and placed a languid kiss on the top of one and then the other. Nat ran her hands through his hair and sighed. âYes Bob, youâre doing so good baby boy. Youâre making her feel so good.â You hummed.
âBobby, take the bra off. I want more.â She begged and you watched as he turned her around quickly, pulling her into his body, eager to please. Bob bent down to suck on the sensitive spot in the crook of her neck while his hands slid her straps down her arms. He then stood and worked the clasps of the bra until they sprang apart, and the bra dropped down her arms and landed on the floor.
âBaby you have beautiful breasts. Bob, how would you show her you like them?â He looked up from behind her, his eyes dark with lust, and gave you a smirk, before his large hands wrapped around and cupped both of Natashas breasts firmly. Nat gasped as he began to knead her breasts, letting her head rest against his chest.
You were starting to feel moisture between your legs. Watching Bob work Natashas breasts, pinching her nipples and tugging on them was making you delightfully jealous but you tried to remain focused on his education.
Natasha was rubbing up against Bob as he worked her chest, moaning and running her hands along the outside of his thighs. You were starting to salivate at the sight of her squirming. Then Bob shocked both of you. He removed a hand from one of Nats breasts, put his two middle fingers in her mouth and she began to suck on them. A rush of heat ran up your spine.
âVery nice Bob, so hot. Now what are you going to do with those soaked fingers?â
Bobs eyes met yours as he removed his damp fingers from Natashas slutty mouth and quickly slid them into the top of her panties. Before either of you knew what was happening, he had run his slick fingers along her folds, causing Natasha to buck against him and release a loud pant. You squeezed your legs together, trying to calm the burning sensation rising between your own legs. You watched as his large arm snaked around her torso, holding her in place while his other worked her slit. You could see the wet spot growing in her thong and it was almost more than you could handle. You had to shake your head to remain focused on the job.
Natasha let out several moans then panted âBob, God, oh Bobby. I want more.â
You smirked. She was so frantic, and you loved it. âShe wants more Bobby, what are you going to give her? Get on your knees and slowly pull her panties down. Torture her.â
He did as he was told, dropping to his knees. He cupped her ass and lathered one of her ass cheeks with a wet kiss that made her moan with a grin. God that ass did things to you and your vision was starting to blur. Bobs fingertips dragged deliberately up the outside of her legs, ankle to waist, then even more slowly pulled her thong down to the floor. You were salivating at the sight of your beautiful girl standing bare and writhing in front of you.
âBob, youâre doing so good. Can you hear all the small pants and moans sheâs making?â He nodded his head as he stood, his hands roaming all over Natashas soft skin. âThatâs how you know youâre doing a good job. Sheâs warmed up and ready for you, time to take things to the next step.â Â
Natasha swung around and made quick work of his zipper, being careful not to catch his very large erection. She pulled down his jeans and briefs in one quick movement, releasing his large cock into the cool air with a gasp. You could see her eyes glistening with enjoyment. Your baby girl loved cock and you knew poor Bob was in a little bit of trouble. Nat got on her knees and began to suck him, hard, cupping his balls with one hand while the other braced on his thigh. Bobs hands instinctively grabbed on to Nats hair as his breaths became loud and ragged. He let out a loud âOh shitâ and looked at you shocked as Nat took him all the way in.
You smirked at him. âBob, are you enjoying her mouth? If so, tell her. Complement her good work.â
He was now thrusting into Phoenixâs mouth while tugging on her hair, his mouth agape as he struggled for breath. His eyes drifted from yours down to hers and between pants he did just as he was instructed.
âNat that feels amazing. Suck me, just like that.â And then his head lolled back as Natasha worked her magic.
âBob, do you want to cum in her mouth? Or somewhere else? You asked and he growled as his head flopped forward to look at Nat again while she worked.
âI want to cum in her gorgeous pussy.â He let out through his forced breathing.
He was getting the hang of this. You knew how much fun Nat had working a cock with her mouth and that if you didnât stop her now this would all end too quickly. âNatasha honeyâ you said and she slowed her ministrations before releasing Bobs cock with a loud pop.
She looked over her shoulder at you sheepishly. âSorry babe, I got carried away.â
âBob, help her up. Take charge. You know what you want next, make it happen.â
He bent down slightly and grabbed Natâs wrists before yanking her up to him. Her body crashed into his and he began kissing her again. His arms snaked around her body and pulled her in even closer. The sweet sounds coming from her mouth had you squirming. You wanted to kiss that mouth so bad right now. Squeezing your thighs together wasnât helping anymore, so you slid your hands into your underwear and began rubbing your mound to find some friction. You sighed and Bobs eyes opened. He took in the sight of you working your bud and his eyes widened while he still kissed Phoenix.
âDonât worry about me Bobby, focus on her. Youâre doing great.â
What happened next happened so fast you almost missed it. Bobs hands reached under Natâs ass and lifted her off the ground. Two steps and he had her flung onto the bed on her back. Before either of you could say anything, Bob laid on his stomach and began kissing the inside of Natashas thighs, first one and then the other. Her head was now lying next to you on the mattress, and she smiled at you with so much heat in her brown orbs.
âBaby, I think heâs a fast learner.â She hissed as his mouth began to lap at the outside of her smooth slit.
âI think youâre right sweet girl.â You said with a smile before reaching over to gently remove some hair from Natashas forehead. You continued to rub yourself, enjoying every saccharine sound falling from your girlfriendâs mouth.
âGod I want this pussy so bad. Tell me Natasha. Tell me I can eat your pussy?â Bob practically growled from between her tanned legs. Nat bucked her hips as she grabbed his hair and pulled him all the way in, his tongue beginning an all-out assault of her clit. Her back arched and you couldnât help yourself. Your free hand grabbed a handful of Natashas right breast and began to knead it. She was making a range of feral noises now that had you pick up the pace in your own underwear.
âBob, Bob, yes Bob. Right there, thatâs perfect. Suck my clit, oh oh yes like that. Ughhâ her back was arching now and you knew she was getting close. Natasha loved nothing more than having her pussy eaten. It was your favorite thing to do to her and you had to focus on something else to keep from joining Bob on the action.
âShes getting close Bob. Fuck her. Let her cum on your cock.â You instructed as you removed your hand from Natashas breast. He lapped a few more times at her opening before sliding up her body and layering her breasts with kisses and nips of his teeth. Natashas hands were everywhere, his hair, scratching his shoulders and biceps. Natasha was a babbling mess of want and need.
âRobert Floyd if you donât fuck me now Iâll, Iâllâ Nat trailed off as he moved the head of his cock to her maidenhead. Bobâs face hovered over Nats briefly before he looked up at you, his face searching for permission.
âMake her feel good Bob.â You nudged and that was all the encouragement he needed. Bob slid his cock into Natasha and she let out a loud moan that sent your head spiraling. You needed more relief than this, you were so wet. As Bob began moving in and out of Natasha you reached over to the bedside table and pulled out your tiny bullet, pressing the button and practically shoving it down your panties. The buzzing went unnoticed as Bob and Nat continued to fuck on the bed next to you.
âDonât let things get stale Bob, move her legs, let her feel you at different angles.â Bob growled into the crook of Natashas neck before he pushed back onto his knees. He threw Natashas legs onto his shoulders and grabbed her hips, lifting her up as he started to pick up the pace, bumping into her pussy with more pressure. She was becoming a loud, vulgar mess, practically screaming obscenities as her hands grabbed ahold of the bars above her head. The mess in your own panties grew with every shout Nat released into the thick air as you moved the bullet back and forth over your sensitive nub.
âPhoenix, cum baby. Cum on my cock.â Bob bellowed. He released her hips and grabbed each of her ankles. He spread her legs wide and really leaned into the fucking. Natasha just gasped repeatedly, no longer forming any words. Â You knew she was close when she became incoherent like this.
âThatâs it Bobby, let her have it. Sheâs ready. Make her cum.â
Bob released one of Natashas legs and put his fingers in her mouth to lick before moving them to her clit and rubbing fast and furiously on it while fucking her hard. A few moments later and Natasha was grabbing at anything and everything as she hollered out her orgasm. âIâm gonna cum. Oh yes Bob fuck Iâm coming.â She let out the deepest, most feral screech as Bob fucked her through it. You were close to your own release and could practically see stars now. You realized Bob was looking at you while he continued to move in and out of Nat, slowing his pace. âSheâs such a good girl. Youâre so lucky.â He huffed and you looked down into her ravaged eyes as you quietly came, creaming all over your bullet. You leaned in to kiss her smoothly before looking back up at Bob.
âDonât forget to take care of yourself Bob. You did so good getting Natasha there. Now move her how you want her so you can cum.â Natasha whimpered while Bob looked briefly contemplative. Then he removed his cock and hooked his finger in the air, beckoning Natasha to rise to him. Slowly and with wet matted hair, she did as she was told. With both on their knees he kissed her lightly, cupping her face, before he used his hands to work her around and onto all fours, her perfect ass up in the air. Â Natasha was practically face to face with you now and grinning through a haze.
As Bob slid into her pussy, Natasha whispered up at you âThis was a great idea.â Then Bob grabbed her hair in one hand and her hip in the other and began pounding into her. You watched Nats face melt into anguished pleasure as Bob began to rumble into the void. With her eyes firmly locked on yours Bob shouted âFuck yeahâ as he came hard into your girlfriendâs pussy. His body continued to push back and forth with his release. As he slowed his pace, he freed Natasha'sâ hair, and you moved in to give her a gentle kiss. Bob leaned down, still attached to Phoenix, and peppered her shoulder blades and upper back with light kisses. Bob whispered into Natashas back âThank you.â Then he slid out of her and sat back so that she could collapse onto the pillows next to you.
Natasha giggled, rolling over onto her side. âCome here, handsome.â And she motioned for him to lay down behind her. Bob did as he was told, molding his front to her back and wrapping his arm around her stomach as his head hit the pillow behind hers. You chuckled at the sight. Your girl was quite proud of herself, and you knew that once Bob left you would get to have your way with her as well. It was going to be a long night for your needy girl.
âBobby, I think youâre ready to take Rebecca for a ride. How do you feel?â you asked. He had his face buried in Natashas hair at the base of her neck and he rolled back just enough to look at you. A goofy grin met his lips. âI canât fucking wait.â And all three of you laughed.
âShe wonât know what hit her.â Natasha added as she wriggled back into him further. âAlso, this is the best part. The snuggles and praise after its over.â
He raised his head to prop it up in his hand and with a peck on her cheek he said âThank you for sharing yourself with me. I feel much better about this now, and you were so perfect. Youâre both excellent teachers. I canât believe Iâve gone so long without this. What was I thinking?â Natashas grin grew even bigger.
âDonât sell yourself short anymore Bob. Just like in the air, youâre a 10 in the sack. Gave all new meaning to don't think, just do." He shared a look with you and you both shook your heads with a laugh. He kissed her shoulder again, then got up and dressed, placing his glasses on his face last. In the dim light he came around the bed and kissed the top of your head, thanking you once again for your help. As he made his way back around the bed to head for the door, Natasha sat up and grabbed his arm, stopping him in his tracks.
âBobâ she said coyly with a sinful expression, âIf things donât work out with Rebecca, I donât mind doing this again. If you ever need or want extra practice.â He just shook his head and smirked. You shared a look with him that communicated the same thing: This woman was wonderful and also going to be the death of you both. He brought her hand to his lips and kissed it gently.
âRemember, this didnât happen. See you tomorrow, Nat.â And with a wink he left the two of you alone in the room.
âNatasha Trace, you are so bad.â You said with a playful pinch to her side. She rolled over laughing and grabbed you until you were anchored on top of her.
âI know. And you love me for it. Now get over here and show much how much you love me for it.â And you did. All night long.

It wasnât uncommon for snow to fall at Top Gun in December. Not much, but enough that the runways and hangars would become a white wonderland overnight and flying would be halted at least for a little while until runways could be cleared for the jets.
Bob loved the snow. Being from Montana, he grew up working and playing in snow as a regular part of his childhood. Phoenix, on the other hand, did not really see snow until she moved to Annapolis for college. She was not a fan of the stuff.
On this particular frigid morning she lay buried in her barracks bed, attempting to stay warm and ignore the white mess outside that had grounded her plane, when a little rap came at her door.
Grumbling, she wrapped her fleece blanket with the Black Aces logo embroidered on it around her shoulders as she rose from the mattress and padded across the room.
âThis better be importantâ she growled under her breath as she opened the door enough to peek through. There, standing on the other side, dressed in warm clothing from head to toe and wearing a bright smile was her WSO, Bob.
âMorning Phee.â He said entirely too cheery.
Phoenix merely grunted as she turned back to her bed and let the door stand open for him to enter.
âYou still in bed? The snow is amazing, come on get dressed and come for a walk with me.â he exclaimed, more as a statement than a question.
Phoenix merely flopped face first back on to her bed, still wrapped in the black blanket, and held up a middle finger. She heard a chuckle from behind her, but he ignored the gesture and pleaded again.
âI know you donât like the cold, but I promise itâll be nice. I want to show you something. Meet me downstairs in 15.â
And then she heard his boots tromp out of the room and her door click lightly as it closed.
18 minutes later, because she wouldnât give him the satisfaction of being punctual for this excursion, Phoenix came to stand at the base of the barracks stairs in front of Bob. He looked like a Lumberjack on closer inspection. He was wearing an old, dirty looking pair of jeans, his military boots, a red flannel shirt under a large tan jacket, a black beanie pulled down to his glasses, and the hood of his jacket pulled up.
âWe going to chop wood or something?â Phoenix teased through her disgruntlement. She threw on a pair of Academy sweatpants over some leggings, a long sleeve shirt under her peacoat, her duty boots, and threw on some navy-blue gloves and beanie. âI havenât even had coffee yet Floyd. Itâs way too early to be out in the cold. Suns not even up yet.â
Bob merely smirked and put his arm around her shoulder as he ushered her towards the exit door.
âI promise thisâll be worth it. Come on.â
In the dark they walked together in silence, the only noise breaking through the icy breeze was the crunch of the snow under their boots. Bob still had his arm around her shoulders and Phoenix had wrapped hers around his lower back as they strolled. They walked until she realized where they were. The hangar where their FA-18 was housed.
âWhat are you on about Floyd? Thereâs no work today.â
âWould you just be patient please?â he said with a sly grin as he led her around the side of the building.
âClimbâ he stated in a matter-of-fact tone while nudging her towards a metal staircase on the outside of the building.
âAre you fucking kidding? Iâm going back to bed.â And he caught her midsection just as she made to turn and head back.
âOh no you donât. Up you go.â He said through a breathy laugh as he spun her back around and pushed her towards the stairs.
âFor a quiet guy you sure are pushy.â She grumbled as she began to heavily trudge up the stairs.
âJust go.â He calmly stated as he climbed the stairs right behind her.
Once they reached the roof of the building, Phoenix realized in the dark there was something on the roof that wouldnât normally be there. Two lawn chairs.
âWhat on earth?â she began but he merely grabbed her hand and walked past her, dragging her begrudgingly through the collected snow on the roof. She realized though that a small path had been cleared to where the chairs were positioned in front of a large air conditioning unit.
âSit please.â He said as he pulled a chair towards her. She sat and crossed her arms, freezing and a little irritated.
Bob pulled the other chair up next to her and sat. Out of nowhere, he pulled out a thermos and handed her a small metal mug with a lid.
âTake the lid off and Iâll share some of this hot stuff with you.â
She peered curiously at him, her eyebrow raising, but did as she was told. Then he filled the cup with a steaming hot liquid. Her hands began to warm through her gloves and the smell hit her. She realized it was hot chocolate. Bob poured some for himself in a matching metal mug, then sat the thermos down and reclined back in his chair, looking very relaxed while taking small sips of his chocolate.
Phoenix, meanwhile, was holding the mug to her chest, sitting stark straight, and merely staring in disbelief at her bespeckled WSO.
âYou drug me out of my nice, warm bed just to sit in the freezing dark on top of a plane hangar and drink hot chocolate?â Her voice hitched with irritation.
âNo. I also brought you out here to see something. Come here. Sit back, relax, and be patient. I promise it will be worth it.â He stated as he brought his arm around the back of her chair and nodded, beckoning her to join him.
Phoenix continued to stare for a few moments longer, then decided to roll with it. She sat back and allowed him to wrap his arm around her shoulder as she wiggled sideways into her lawn chair in order to snuggle into his side some more.
They continued to sit like this for a while, sipping their hot chocolate, and discussing work related items. Then Bob sat up suddenly and placed his cup on the roof next to the leg of his chair.
âCâmon. Itâs time!â he all but shouted excitedly as he stood and put his hand out for her to take. She looked at him like he was nuts but did the same with her cup before taking his hand and letting him lead her a few feet forward.
Once she came to a stop, he moved behind her and wrapped his arms around her shoulders, clasping them together on her chest. His head came to rest lightly leaning against the side of her head as she brought her gloved hands up to hold on to his forearms. They stood in the quiet looking off into the first lights of dawn, the only sound she could hear was his breath falling evenly next to her ear, warm and tickling a little.
Then it happened. All of a sudden, the sun began to peer above the distant mountains, casting golden beams over the snow-covered terrain. Her breath hitched in her throat as she watched bright rays bounce off the blankets of white, brilliant rainbow sparkles dancing over the powdery landscape. She could see the lights of the runway peeking out of the snow as the sun jumped off of them, and the sun began to kiss other distant hangar roofs. Everything was covered in a dusting of snow, and it really was quite beautiful, she hated to admit.
âThis is what I wanted to show you.â He whispered in her ear.
âIâll admit, itâs pretty.â She said begrudgingly, not wanting to give him satisfaction.
He turned her in his arms until she was facing him, wrapped up in his arms, her hands coming to rest on the red flannel of his chest.
âWas it worth it?â he asked, a look of mirth on his face, his wide eyes staring hopeful at her from behind his glasses.
âLetâs just say, itâs a good thing I love you Floydâ she whispered and then he brushed his lips gently to hers as the sun continued to crest the mountain top, bathing them in light and warmth.
Fin.
This was fun to turn the timer on and just go for it. Might have to do that more often. Hope you enjoy!

Prompt #74 from @creativepromptsforwriting @creativepromptfills (Feel free to reblog)
A day late and a dollar short, this is my Fourth of July story.
Description: Rooster isn't a fan of the fourth, it was too close to the anniversary of his dads death. Phoenix tries to help him make new, happy memories.
After the Dagger squad completed their mission they dispersed back into the wind, separating to their four corners of the world to continue with their original units. Rooster found himself back in Japan to complete another five months of service there before being moved again. When his orders came down for San Diego, he wasnât sad at all. He spent the last 5 months reconnecting with Maverick via facetime and now they could catch up on the years they missed with each other. There was a bonus to this assignment as well. Phoenix, Bob, and Coyote were all stationed there as well.
Rooster moved in April and by May was settled into his small apartment and with his new unit. He spent his days flying and nights banging on the piano at the hard deck with his friends. Maverick had retired finally and was helping Penny run the bar while consulting for the NAVY, so it was another way to spend time with his long-lost family. Things were going well, and he couldnât complain.
Then his least favorite time of the year rolled around. July 4th was an important day for the country he served proudly, it was Americas birthday. Rooster, however, never felt much like celebrating. His dad had died just a few days prior to the holiday. His first fourth without his father was spent snuggling in his motherâs lap, watching fireworks from their backyard in Corpus Christi, Texas, while she sobbed uncontrollably. They never really celebrated the holiday; it was just too painful for his mother. She told Rooster one time when he was in high school and asked, about how July 4th was his fatherâs favorite holiday. He and Mav would have cookouts for their pilot friends that included at least one of them getting burned while running from fireworks and lots of singing americana themed songs off key. She looked so sad as she recalled these memories to him, and he decided to never bring it up again.
The fact that his father was a military man added insult to injury. Everything about the holiday was pomp and circumstance surrounding those who sacrificed for freedom. Rooster always struggled to see all the uniforms, military vehicles in parades, and fly overs on that day, so he decided to just ignore it, never going anywhere, never participating when asked, or celebrating at all.
When Mav and Penny invited him and his fellow aviators out to Mavericks hangar for a huge get together, Rooster panicked. He was getting along so well with the older pilot, and this might throw a wrench in everything. He didnât want to be rude but how would he let the man down gently without telling him why he would be sitting on his couch with a beer and ignoring the outside world that day?
He tried. Several excuses later Penny had sweet talked him into making an appearance, especially after Phoenix, Bob, and Coyote had all enthusiastically accepted their invitations. Rooster was disgruntled to say the least. The thought of Maverick wanting to celebrate during this time of year really rubbed him the wrong way, and Phoenix must have picked up on that notion. The day after the invitation conversation at the Hard Deck, she cornered him at work before their hops.
âWhatâs up your ass, Bradshaw?â she asked from behind him as he walked towards the hangar door.
Rooster stopped in his tracks, swearing under his breath. He was hoping she wouldnât bug him about it, but that woman never missed anything when it came to Rooster and his emotions. He turned around and found her standing with her arms crossed, an eyebrow inclined to the roof, waiting for an answer.
He sighed then tried to play it cool. âNothing. Why do you ask?â
âBullshitâ she immediately spat. âYou couldnât get out of the July 4th invitation fast enough last night. What gives? Donât like us anymore?â she smirked.
âDepending on how much you continue to bug me about this, I might not.â He said completely dry.
Phoenix took a few steps forward, closing the gap between them. âIâm coming over after work to get one of your shitty beers and youâre going to tell me.â Then she lightly shoved his shoulder with her helmet before walking around him and heading for her jet.
Rooster turned and watched her go, rubbing his face with his free hand in exasperation before walking out into the California heat. He never thought he would have to have this conversation with anyone, especially Phoenix. They had always had a thing of sorts, although they never made a move past being best friends. They were close and had been since they met at Top Gun 8 years ago. They told each other everything and travelled around each otherâs orbit, but he always kept her at armâs length, not wanting to bring anyone into his personal shit nor start something he wasnât sure he could see all the way through. It had been a few years since they had seen each other in person when they were both called back for the special detachment and Rooster began to feel all sorts of feelings again. But he still wasnât sure he wanted to bring her all the way into his bubble.
Guess she was going to push her way in whether he wanted her to or not.
After work he tried to slip out before she could catch him but no such luck. Phoenix was already leaning against her jeep parked next to his Bronco. Rooster let out an exasperated breath as he approached her, having half a mind to remove his shades so she could see his irritation on full display, but it wouldnât have mattered, a satisfied smirk on her face already.
âWould you believe me if I told you I already have plans this evening?â he asked as he stopped at the front of the Bronco to address her.
She stood up and grabbed her backpack from the ground âNot in the least. Start driving Bradshaw, Iâm right behind you.â Then she practically skipped to her driverâs side door and hopped into the jeep. Rooster just shook his head then trudged to his own door, taking his time getting in and turning everything on, hoping it would deter her, but knowing better. Damn that woman, if he didnât like her, heâd hate her. She never took his crap, or anyone elseâs, he had to give her credit for that.
Once they pulled into his complex, they both walked silently up to his door but before he could unlock it, he turned to face her. âLook. Iâd rather be alone right now.â Was all he said.
Her smile became a little crestfallen as her eyes dropped from his. She took a slow breath then looked up at him. âListen, I can respect that if it wasnât so obvious that youâre in pain over something. How long do we have to be best friends before you let me in? We went eight years without me knowing about the whole Maverick situation. You donât have to hold all this shit in, you know? I want to be here for you, not just as coworkers and drinking buddies.â Then her eyes drifted down to her hands that were fiddling nervously with the strap from her backpack. It wasnât often she dropped her tough exterior but when she did, it was usually with him and he found it beautiful.
Rooster contemplated for a minute. How long was he going to keep her pushed out of his heart. If he was honest with himself, he had let her in a long time ago, he was just scared, for so many reasons. They were coworkers, which was a weird grey area to begin with, then the thought of doing to her what his dad had done to his mom, leaving her broken and alone, just about killed him to think about. Then there was all his personal bullshit. She had her own issues in life to worry about, why should he bog her down with his own misery?
Was he being fair though? She was a big girl, maybe he should let her decide for herself if he was worth the trouble, she was obviously willing to put herself through on his behalf. For years he had been her go-to person, why couldnât he finally let her be that for him? He steeled his resolve, turned back to the door, unlocked it, then held it open, using his other hand to wave her into his place.
She looked up at him quizzically at first then a meek smile crossed her face, and she breezed past him. The apartment was sparse, and she had been there plenty of times that it was a second home for Phoenix at this point. She dropped her backpack in the closet by the door, toeing off her sneakers, then walked into the kitchen without a word. Rooster did the same, dropping his bag and shoes into the closet before flopping into his recliner, already exhausted from the conversation he was about to have. He heard the pop of two beer bottles then she brought him one before tucking her legs under her on the end of the couch closest to him.
They sat in silence drinking from their beers for a while. He was starting to think maybe she had changed her mind when she spoke up.
âIâm not sure what to ask to get this conversation started.â
He exhaled âItâs pretty cut and dry. My dad died 33 years ago on June 30th, 1986.
Her eyes went big. âRooster, thatâs tomorrow.â she all but whispered.
He only shook his head in slow affirmative then took a long draw from his beer.
âMy mom loved that man deeper than any love that ever existed, I think. When he was killed,â he took a ragged breath, trying to hold it together, âit liked to have killed her too. The fourth became more of a day of mourning than a happy occasion for us. Mom didnât feel much up to doing anything that day.â He paused for another drink.
âSure, that makes sense.â Was all she said before taking a swig of her own beer.
âThat woman was such a character. You would have loved her. She was hard not to love. I mean, Iâve told you some of the wild and wacky stuff we did when I was growing up. Holidays were always a big deal, except the fourth. The only place we ever went was to the cemetery sometimes but as I got older, I just couldnât go and watch her lay on that patch of grass and sob for hours in the Texas sun. âA few tears escaped his eyes, much to his protests. Before he could wipe them though, a small, calloused hand reached up and swiped his cheek gently. He looked at her, her eyes watery and filled with compassion.
âRooster, this is nothing to be ashamed of. Youâre allowed to hurt. Youâre allowed to grieve however you feel is best. If that means holed up here on the fourth, then do it. I donât mind covering for you.â She hesitated, âor I could come hole up here with you. So, youâre not alone?â
He let loose a soft smile âIâd like that.â He said with a rasp in his voice before he could stop himself. Was this the clutch his mom had on his dadsâ heart? Is this what it felt like? He didnât deserve this tough, hardheaded, yet gentle woman. She suddenly made what felt like the worldâs worst day into something to look forward to.
âDo me a favor? Talk to Mav. I know he might try to talk you into going to the party but give him a chance to prove you wrong. He deserves to know whatâs on your mind.â
Rooster just nodded then finished off his bottle. She chased hers until it was empty and then stood and reached for his bottle. Phoenix threw them away then moved to the closet to put her shoes back on and grab her bag. He stood and walked to the entry way, crossing his arms and leaning against the wall watching her.
She spoke over her shoulder âI hate to chat and run but Iâm meeting up with a couple of girlfriends at the gym.â She turned and almost ran into him as she closed the closet door. She was so close he could feel her breath on his crossed arms. Her eyes drifted up to his and he smirked.
âSo, what are we going to do Sunday for the fourth?â he asked cheekily.
She only stared at him then exhaled into a smile. âWhatever you want Lieutenant.â S stepped back, opened the door and disappeared.
Rooster wasnât sure what to make of that comment but suddenly the fourth didnât seem so scary.
The next day after work, Rooster went to dinner at Pennyâs house like he did most Wednesdays. This was a somber meal considering the day, and Mav struggled to get through his toast to Goose. Rooster hadnât seen Mav on this anniversary in many years and he could tell it aged the man more and more as the years passed. He would probably always blame himself for what happened, no matter what anyone said. Rooster wondered if he would ever have to go through something like that. Hazard of the job and all.
After Amelia went to her room to work on homework, he had the dreaded conversation with Penny and Mav. He was pleasantly surprised when they were both extremely understanding, even Mav. Rooster could tell it stung a little, under the circumstances, but they agreed he should do what he needed to do and that he was always welcome if he changed his mind.
Rooster helped Penny carry a stack of dishes to the kitchen and began to rinse them while she toweled them off and placed them in the dishwasher.
âSo, do you mind if I ask what you plan to do for the fourth?â she asked calmly.
âI donât mind. Phoenix is coming over.â
He caught the eyebrow raise and intrigued look she gave him out of the corner of his eye, but she didnât press, and he didnât say more.
Maybe he and Phoenix could make some new memories to replace the bad ones? Suddenly, for the first time since he was three years old, he was looking forward to the fourth of July.
The rest of the week at work seemed to drag and there was an obvious tension between Phoenix and himself, but in the best possible way. They used their flying as flirting, and it bordered on foreplay in the air. They pushed each other, goading the other on and passing smart ass remarks back and forth to each other. Even Coyote made a sideways comment that Friday about it.
âCould you two and your planes get a room please?â He cracked as they walked back to the hangar from their jets.
Bob choked on a snort, Phoenix just made a taunting face at him, and Rooster looked away trying to hide the blush he could feel crawling across his cheeks.
Phoenix shot back âOnly if you and your ego get one first.â Everyone laughed and then parted ways for their weekend festivities. When Rooster made it out to the parking lot, he found Phoenix once again leaning against her jeep right next to his Bronco.
âSoâ she said once he was close enough to hear.
âSoâ he replied, nonchalantly, as he tossed his gear into the back of the Bronco.
âSo, Iâll see you Sunday?â
âYeah, if you still want?â
She snorted her reply, her face looking skeptical. âChange your mind Bradshaw? I could always go over to Mavs with the rest of them?â her eyebrow raised in amusement as he came to stand in front of her, dangerously close again, looking down on her from behind his aviator shades. She was playing coy and he kind of liked it. Oh no, he had decided once and for all that this cat and mouse game was done and his fourth was going to be the best one in the history of his fourths.
He slid his glasses down his nose, looking over the top of them as a Cheshire cat grin crossed his face. âTwo pm, donât be late.â Then he winked and slid his glasses back up.
She shook her head with a chuckle and they both jumped into their cars and drove away.
At 1:45PM Sunday July 4th Rooster was a nervous wreck. He had secretly thought of this moment for a very long time. Was he getting ahead of himself? Maybe all she wanted was to flirt and keep things platonic otherwise? Only one way to find out, he figured. Anything to distract him from how he normally felt on this day.
He took one last look at himself in the mirror, sporting a patriotic Hawaiian shirt over his usual white tank and a pair of khaki shorts. He could hear the sarcastic remarks already. He hoped the surprises he had for her would be appreciated, at least for the effort. He decided the only way to move forward was to take a page out of Carole Bradshawâs book of unconventional fun. Even though she never did anything entertaining for the fourth, he used his imagination based on every other holiday they had celebrated together and went to work.
At two oâclock on the dot he heard a knock at his door before it swung open. He quickly grabbed a white beard and patriotic top hat and threw them on before exiting his bedroom âBradshaw, come help meâ She called out, her smaller frame bent over trying to pick up a few grocery bags. He had to smile at the visual. She was wearing a tiny red tank top and very short denim shorts, her own pair of aviator shades covering her eyes, and her car keys were hanging out of her mouth while she struggled with the bags. He smiled at the sight.
Phoenix raised her head to look at him and froze on the spot, her car keys slamming to the ground as her jaw slid open. He put his arms out as if to say âta-daâ and she began laughing hysterically. She was laughing so hard she began to grab her side and used her other hand to clutch the door frame.
âWhatâ she laughed more, trying to breath âare you wearing Colonel Sanders?â
He scoffed then walked to the door and scooped up all the bags in dramatic fashion. âIâm Uncle Sam, thank-you-very-much.â Then he winked and made his way to the kitchen, listening to her continue to cackle and gasp for air.
âYouâre letting out all the bought air, get in here, would you?â he called from the kitchen as he began pulling items from the bags. There was a considerable amount of alcohol, some junk food, and a bakery carton of red, white and blue sprinkled cookies. The door closed and she finally appeared in the doorway, immediately busting out into another fit of laughter as soon as she saw him. She was wiping tears from her eyes and clutching her side still.
âYou have GOT to take that off or Iâll pee myself.â
âAw come on, whereâs your sense of fun?â he asked.
âYou look like Santa came to visit for the fourth.â She giggled.
âOk, that did it.â He said flatly and removed the items.
âThatâs betterâ she said and moved into the kitchen to give him a hug, raising up on her tiptoes so she could wrap her arms around his neck. Something was instantly different about this hug. Sure, they had hugged plenty over the years. Being in many near death situations will do that to you. But this was a different hug. They werenât pulling apart. No one moved or let go. They just stood in the middle of the kitchen, her arms around his neck, his strong arms wrapped around her middle, very still.
âGlad you could comeâ he said barely above a whisper into the side of her head.
With that she pulled back some, a shy smile on her face as they continued to hold each other.
âI wouldnât have missed Santa Sam for the world.â She said with a grin, and he poked her side, knowing full well she was extremely ticklish. She released a very unladylike snort and turned around to run, shouting behind her âOk now I do have to pee.â The bathroom door closed, and he waited just a couple of seconds before he heard a loud âOh shitâ from the lavatory.
She found another one of his surprises.
A few minutes later she came running back into the living room where Rooster sat on the couch waiting for her. She launched herself at him, landing with her legs straddling his lap, her hands attempting to get to his neck, but he held her wrists firm, laughing deeply at the feigned angry look on her face.
âSeriously Bradshaw, a fucking Uncle Sam inside the toilet lid? You about gave me a heart attack!â She continued wrestling with him, trying to get free.
All Rooster could do was laugh much in the same way she did when she first arrived. Her position hadnât been lost on him either. This was not a position they had been in before and he was starting to sweat through his laughter.
âOh, come on, that was funny you gotta admit.â He said and then with his hands still firmly wrapped around her wrists he maneuvered her arms behind her back and held her there, a prisoner. His prisoner. She stopped squirming in his lap, thankfully, and just stared at him with wide eyes.
âIâm not admitting anythingâ she said low, and he just gave her a small, pursed lip smile before he did it. He made his move. Rooster sat up, held her wrists, and brushed his lips briefly across hers. He immediately opened his eyes, hoping she wasnât pissed, but all he saw was a beautiful flush across her cheeks, her eyes still closed. She sunk a little and wiggled her arms trying to go free, so he released her wrists. Her hands moved to his chest and her lids slowly fluttered open. Their eyes met and he almost dissipated under the warmth of the melting chocolate staring back at him.
He brought his hands up to cover hers on his chest, rubbing small circles on the back of them with his thumbs. âIâm sorry, I shouldnât have done that without asking.â He said, genuinely sorry that he took advantage of the situation. A rueful smile played across her face and then without warning she was on him.
Her hands slid up his chest, across his shoulders, wrapping around the back of his neck as she leaned in. His eyes were open in shock at first as she began kissing him, but this time it was deep and needy. His hands moved to her hips, gripping them tighter than he probably should, and he pulled her closer until she was resting against him. She slid her tongue across his bottom lip, and he was all too happy to part them for her. Their tongues began to dance, and a small moan escaped her that sent a chill all the way down his spine.
No sooner had it started, she was pulling away from his face, flustered but smiling a genuine and radiant smile.
âIâve been waiting for you to ask for a very long time. Glad you decided to skip the asking and just get to the good stuff.â
He was gob smacked. Natasha Trace does not throw caution to the wind, quite literally. This almost feral and lackadaisical version of his best friend had him more confused than he was before their talk the other day. Why didnât she ever say anything?
Before he could ask, she lifted herself from him and reached her hands out to pull him up.
âCâmon Colonel, any other surprises?â she asked.
His mind went down a wicked path and it must have shown on his face because she lightly smacked him on the chest with the back of her hand. âFor the fourth you pig.â
He chucked then took her hand in his and lead her to the small dining table near the kitchen. The table and walls were covered in cheap dollar store decorations including plastic patriotic plates, cups, and cutlery.
âYou really had fun with this didnât you?â She asked him.
âJust wait, thereâs games and everything. My mother would be so proud.â He said as he wiggled his eyebrows.
âOf course, there is.â And she just rolled her eyes.
An hour later the table was covered in various snack packages and discarded beer bottles. Papers for name that patriotic tune and a fourth of July crossword sat discarded next to a small Bluetooth speaker. They had moved their chairs closer together and were looking at a piece of paper together.
âRooster, some of these are just gross.â
âThatâs the point of the game This or That. Gotta find the lesser of two evils.â
âFine, but I refuse to go through with anything actually on this sheet.â
âNot a requirement.â He said with a smile.
âOk Iâm going first then.â And she snatched the paper from his hands. âLetâs seeâ she said as she poured over the options. âHow about this. Wear a mullet forever or have red, white and blue hair forever?â
He sucked air through his teeth as if this was the toughest decision heâs ever had to make. âYou know, I rocked a mullet for most of second and third grade. Wasnât pretty but at least it would be closer to regs than colorful hair so, mullet it is.â
Phoenix laughed as she passed the paper. âI want to see those pictures!â
âNo way.â he shook his head and picked up his drink. âIâm pretty sure I burned those pictures.â
âLiar. Now ask me one.â
âPatience mam. Iâm working on it.â He took a drink and put his bottle back down. He looked down the list and asked, âWould you rather drink ketchup through a straw or eat mayo with a spoon?â
She immediately acted as if she was gagging. âI donât like either of those.â
âThatâs not the point of the game Phee, you gotta choose.â
She shot him a dirty look and grunted âFine. Sucking a condiment through a straw, regardless of what it is, just sounds shitty so Iâll go mayo with a spoon.â And her body shuddered in disgust.
He laughed then passed the paper back to her.
She skimmed her finger down the list and made comments as she went. âThat one is gross too. I donât want to know the answer to this one. I already know the answer to that one.â
âWhoa whoa whoa know it all, ask it anyway. I might surprise you.â
She looked at him annoyed. âTrust me you wonât. Not on this one.â
He sat back and crossed his arms, daring her to ask with his expression. She rolled her eyes again and spoke in a very sarcastic tone. âWould you rather sing all night or dance all night?â Then she tossed the paper down in front of him, sure of what was coming next.
Rooster contemplated his answer though then an idea hit him. He pushed his chair back and stood up, Phoenix looking all together confused. Rooster fiddled with his phone for a minute then hit the power button on the small speaker. A Jason Aldean song started up and he held his hand out to her.
âIf the answer involves you then the answer is dancing all night.â
She looked stunned as she reached her hand up to meet him. The next thing he knew they were in front of his couch, her right hand enclosed in his left as he held her close, their bodies swaying to the music.
Rooster started singing the words to the song quietly into the top of her head.
âI think technically its cheating if you sing while dancing, per your insistence that you have to choose one or the other for the game.â
He chuckled âOk, dancing only.â Then the arm he had around her lower back pulled her in closer and she turned her head sideways to rest it on his chest. They continued to sway through the end of the song and then all the way through another song before she spoke again.
âRooster?â
âHmm?â
âLetâs dance all night.â
The implications of her statement hung thick in the air and his swaying faltered. He looked down as she looked up at him, something desperate sparkling in her eyes. There was no going back from something like this. He warred with himself for a split second before he made his decision.
Rooster slid both of his hands under her ass and lifted her up suddenly, causing her to let out a tiny squeak. She wrapped her arms around the back of his neck, and they began kissing. These werenât small, meek kisses. These kisses were intrusive. Tongues dipped in and out and her teeth grazed his bottom lip, causing him to squeeze her ass. Rooster began walking towards his room, barely able to see as they continued to kiss hard and furiously.
Once in the room, he used his foot to close the door before turning and pressing her back to it. He stood holding her against his bedroom door but pulled his lips away to look at her one more time.
Between ragged breaths she asked âwhat?â
Rooster swallowed hard, touching his forehead to hers. âThis will change everything. I donât want to do anything you donât want.â
He felt her lips place a light kiss on his forehead.
âRooster, look at me.â And he did. âI want everything to change. Now please, change it.â
He didnât need to hear anymore. His lips crashed into hers and the race was on. His mustache created chill bumps on her skin as his lips worked their way down her neck until he was lightly sucking on a sensitive spot near her collarbone. Her nails were starting to dig into his back, and it made him suck harder, eliciting pants from Phoenix that were like music to his ears. Her body was writhing against him, clearly searching for more.
Rooster slowly lowered her to the ground until she was standing and grazed his lips lightly across her collarbone and shoulder as he turned her to face the door. With her hands resting on the door in front of her, he gently slid some of her hair out of the way and sucked on the back of her neck. She moaned her approval.
His hands slid up her sides until they were resting on her breasts, slowly needing them through her tank top and bra. She moved his hands and yanked her shirt over her head, momentarily pushing his lips away from her neck. When his hands moved back to her breasts, he realized something amazing, her bra was a front clasp.
His fingers made quick work of the small hooks and as the cups fell away his warm hands covered both breasts, another moan escaping her pretty mouth. He began rolling her nipples with his fingers and her ass grazed his dick, making him jump. Roostersâ hands moved to her shoulders and slid the red lacy bra down her arms until it hit the floor.
Phoenix turned around and crushed her lips to his, frantically removing both of his shirts. As they skimmed lips, she traced her tiny fingers over each curve of his abdomen then he felt her pert breasts pushing against him as she wrapped her arms around his midsection.
Rooster wasnât sure how much more he could take; his brain was screaming. His cock was screaming. He wanted her to scream.
They began moving towards the bed, never ending the waltz their tongues were dancing together. Rooster unbuttoned his shorts and let them drop to the ground before he unbuttoned hers. Before he could lower them though, she stepped back, panting and flushed. He was worried that she had changed her mind but then she gave him the sexiest grin. She turned around and hooked her thumbs into the top of her shorts. What happened next almost dissolved Rooster on the spot.
Phoenix bent over slowly, and as she did, she pushed her shorts down gradually, revealing a thin pair of red lace panties. There she was, her ass in the air, and she wiggled it ever so slightly, teasing him. He was done playing. Eight years of sexual tension was a huge itch, and he was about to scratch it so good she just might cry.
He gave her right ass cheek a small spank and she gasped. Before she could react further though, he grabbed her hips and turned her as she stood back up. Then, with his eyes connected to hers, he lowered himself to his knees. His fingers skimmed the outside of her legs as he placed a small kiss to her stomach. He slid his fingers deliberately up her thighs until he hooked his thumb into the single string holding up the panties on either side. Then he was lowering them, smoothly crawling his fingers across her skin as he did.
He wanted to worship her. She deserved nothing less. This was an enormous gift she was giving him, and he didnât want to waste it.
She stepped out of her panties and then ran her hands through the tufts of his brown curls. When she tugged on it, he growled then leaned in and swooped his tongue across the outside of her heat. He could smell her arousal and his cock throbbed painfully. She tugged again and he raised his head to look at her. She looked at him through hooded eyes, lust radiating from her skin.
Rooster used his hands on her hips to move her until the backs of her legs hit the bed and she sat. Staring straight into her soul, he placed his hands on her knees then pulled them apart, spreading her wide. Without warning he buried his face between her soft thigs and ran his tongue from her vagina to her clit, producing the most beautiful cry from her as she threw her head back.
He smirked to himself then slid his arms under her thighs, wrapping them all the way around and gripping them tight. He blew a light breath onto her wet slick, and she shuddered. Then he began lapping at her opening as if it were the best ice cream he had ever tasted. His tongue pushed into her, and she whimpered. His tongue moved north and began a beautiful assault of her clit. He started slow, savoring the movement of her body against his face and the tiny noises she began to make. He circled her then sucked gently, gradually picking up the pace. She moved her hips in rhythm with his tongue, a barrage of obscenities pouring from her mouth. She was getting close, and he could tell.
Rooster removed one of his arms from her leg and she made a noise of protest until two of his fingers entered her wet folds and she cried out. He hooked his fingers and thrust them quickly while his tongue struck her mound faster and faster. This tempo unraveled her forcefully, her pelvis grinding into his face and fingers as she threw her head back and let out a shriek, he was sure the neighbors had to of heard. She twisted and pressed against him as she rode her wave and her movements slowed as his did. He slowly skimmed her slit with his tongue as he removed his fingers, her pants shooting straight to his core.
He stood and looked down at her, naked and open to him. She was a vision of beauty and he felt so overwhelmed by this scene his stomach tightened.
Phoenix let her head roll to the side, her eyes opening to meet his as her breath finally slowed. She reached out to his swollen dick, trapped in his boxer briefs, and ran her hand from base to tip. His whole body jumped, and an unattractive noise escaped his mouth. Her lips curved into the sexiest smile and without hesitation she gently pulled the waistband away from his cock then yanked the underwear all the way down in one swift movement.
Before Rooster could react, her tongue was on him, grazing the underside of his cock until it reached the tip. She licked the precum away then took him whole, filling her pretty mouth with all of him. Animalistic noises echoed from his mouth as she hollowed out her checks to suck him hard. Her hands were cradling his balls and the base of his penis as she slid her mouth up and down in agile movements. He was seeing stars and getting close. As much as he would love to see her mouth take his cum, he had other ideas of where he wanted it to go.
Rooster ran his hands through her raven hair then gently pulled her back until her mouth was empty of him. She looked at him with innocence, knowing full well how naughty she was being. He looked at her hungerly and his voice came out extremely husky when he told her to move back. She obliged, using her feet to push herself further onto the bed.
He crawled across the bed with her and as she lowered herself back onto her elbows, he placed his hands on either side of her and dropped down for a deep kiss. When she pulled away, he gazed into her eyes before wrapping his arms around her and laying her all the way onto the bed smoothly. His eyes searched hers the whole time, looking for any ounce of doubt or fear before he crossed the last precipice of their relationship. Knowing where his mind was, she reached out to stroke his cheek with her hand. A beautiful smile grew, and she said the one word he needed to hear. âPlease.â She almost whispered. He only nodded his head and moved in closer between her legs.
He placed his lips on hers, languid kisses shared between them as he aligned his cock to her entrance. With her arms wrapped around his neck he slid in, and she inhaled sharply, her chin lifting to the ceiling. Rooster peppered her jaw line with light kisses as he began to move, gradually at first. Â They had waited eight years for this moment, he wanted both to savor it. His lips moved down as he rocked into her and took first one nipple and then the other into his mouth, his tongue circling each one until she was begging for more. Her pleading made him brave. Before she even had time to register what was happening, he had grabbed her around her waist and rolled over, his back landing on a stack of pillows, Phoenix still connected and now, on top of him.
She placed her hands on his chest, steadying herself, before a dangerous look crossed her face. Whatever happened next, he knew he was going to enjoy it immensely.
Bracing herself she began rocking back and forth, grinding her sensitive bud against his pelvis. Her head rolled and lulled with the movements, his hips swaying to meet her. She sat up as she continued to rub against him and raised her hands into her hair, putting her exquisite breasts on full display for him. He reached up and pinched her nipples between his fingers as she let out moans in time with her movements.
Rooster brought one of his thumbs to her mouth, beckoning for her to suck on it, which she did like a good girl. Then he brought his thumb to her clit and began slow circles that had her calling for God. The harder he pressed the more she pushed down, her actions becoming more erratic as she reached behind her and grabbed his inner thighs for support. Seconds later she was falling apart again, a cry erupting from her mouth that ripped right through his body, awakening something feral and needy in him. Before she could come down from her high, he had rolled them over again and was burying himself so deep in her that he thought he might shatter immediately.
His mouth was sucking at her collarbone while her hands clawed at his shoulder blades. He pounded into her with all the force he could muster, her cries growing louder with each thrust. Suddenly he realized she wasnât just wailing incoherently. His name was pouring from her mouth. Not his callsign, but his name.
âBradley, oh god Bradleyâ she yelled over and over as he crashed into her. Something about his name on her lips had his mind and body spiraling. With two more fast and hard plows he blew his load into her as he called her name into the void.
âOh Natasha, holy shit.â His cock exploding forcefully into her body.
He stilled buried to the hilt, both breathing intensely, tiny whimpers escaping her mouth with each heave of her chest. As his mind came back to earth, he regained some of his bearings and eased the tension of his body from against hers. His lips met hers in a tender kiss that she reciprocated as best as she could between heavy breaths.
His heart almost burst when she smiled at him, her cheeks flushed, a sheen touching her brow. She was stunning and it made his heart clench. This was it for him. No more shutting her out. He wanted all of her like this, over and over again, for eternity. He had found his happiness.
As he softened, he slid out of her and sat back on his heels, watching her regain composure as her breaths became steadier. She raised her hand for help, and he grabbed it, sitting her up gingerly. She bent her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. Her chin came to rest on the top of her knees, and she gave him a gorgeous mega watt smile.
Rooster moved next to her and laid back on the stack of pillows. He rubbed circles lazily on her bare back, connecting the scars he could see. Â Into the dark she suddenly spoke, pulling him out of his trance.
âBradley?â
âYeah baby?â
She peered over her shoulder at him with her eyebrow raised, wearing a smirk.
âCan we do this every Fourth of July?â
He chuckled then opened his arms, beckoning her to join him. She laid back and nestled herself to his side while he wrapped his arms around her. He placed a peck to the tip of her nose and the corners of his mouth raised.
âLet freedom ring, baby.â And they both fell into a heap of laughter and bliss.
Just like that the Fourth of July became his favorite holiday, year after year.
đą Noooo haha! Itâs so good! I reviewed in depth on AO3 at the time but the progression of their friendship into something more is so well done! The âfor the fourth, you pig!â line literally was in my mind this past week before I even recalled this story specifically đ

Prompt #525 from @creativepromptsforwriting @creativepromptfills #weekendgame (Feel free to reblog)
I set the timer for 15 minutes this time and got just over 1,000 words. So I went back for an hour to fill in, clean it up, and make a complete story. I'm really enjoying the freedom of taking one of your prompts and just rolling with it.
Comments and reblogs welcomed and encouraged!
It was dark inside the tiny barracks room, the only light coming from parking lot lights through the slightly cracked blinds.
Soft moans drifted through the dark, silky and mewing. She was completely naked and splayed across the twin bed against the wall, tugging at the head between her thighs. His tongue was so perfect, the pressure he lapped against her clit was just right, causing her to tug even harder at his hair as her hips bucked into his face. She couldnât help it, this newfound alliance had her more than a little hot and bothered, if for no other reason, because no one would have ever suspected it.
He picked up the pace, his tongue flicking faster and faster, her grip tightening as she shoved her wet slit right into his face. One hand flew to her mouth as she rode her wave, muffling the frantic scream she wanted to release. As her hips slowed along with the rhythm of his tongue, he backed away and placed a soft kiss on the inside of her thigh, a rush of cool air hitting her wet heat and sending extra shivers up her spine. He slowly lowered her legs from his shoulders as he placed gentle kisses up her hip, across her stomach, feathering his lips across one breast and then the other, pulling gently on her sensitive nipples with his teeth as he went. Finally, he found a special patch of skin where her shoulder met her neck. It was the perfect place for his lips to land. She whimpered and whined as he sucked leisurely on that spot, his hand moving his throbbing cock to her wet and waiting opening. He paused, a silent question hanging in the air, and she shook her head yes, fast and furiously.
As he slid into her painfully slow, she groaned and dug her nails into the back of his arms.
He moved oh so slow at first, picking his head up, his eyes meeting hers in the dim light. They stared at each other, desperation flowing from one set of eyes to the other as he picked up the pace, both hips rocking into each otherâs hungrily. One of his hands trailed lightly down her side and then abruptly grabbed her leg behind her knee and he thrust hard, causing her back to arch and a loud gasp to escape her lips as they both froze. He began to kiss her gently on the mouth, his skilled tongue coating hers in a lovely dance, before he started moving again, digging into her leg as he pushed harder and faster into her depths.
She knew they were two people letting out frustration, desperate to survive, but she didn't care what started it, she only cared about him and keeping him alive. She wanted this; she wanted him, at least she does in this moment. She wasnât even sure how they got to this point, but she wanted him in so many ways it made her heart hurt. They barely knew each other and yet it felt like they had known each other their whole lives. They worked well together, they just fit. These thoughts consumed her as she clung frantically to him, riding the wave of pleasure he was generously offering to her body.
His movements became more erratic as she pushed harder and harder against her hips. She felt as if she was going to split into two, her world spinning with thoughts and feelings, tangible and intangible. Suddenly the grip he had on her leg bordered on painful as he shoved hard into her one last time, his release coming with muffled grunts into the hair on the side of her head. She heard his breathy voice, deep and almost guttural, whisper "I'm sorry" between heavy pants and she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him down to her chest, squeezing the life out of him as he softened inside her.
"I'm not." she whispered around her own heavy breathing as he kissed the side of her head. He slid out and rolled to his side. His arms wrapped around her and pulled her with him until she rested against his side, her head on his chest under his chin. He smelled so good, musk and sweat, and sandalwood. She could lay there inhaling his scent, enjoying his deceivingly strong arms, their breaths in tandem, forever she thought. It would be the safer option. Wouldnât it?
But. There was always a but.
Tomorrow, they leave. Tomorrow, they board the ship that takes them to their fate, whether good or bad. Tomorrow they may leave dry land alive for the last time. There was a dark cloud that covered their lovemaking, although neither cared to speak of it, because then it would become real. That dark cloud would douse the joy they just experienced with a wash that they didnât want to face, at least not tonight. That was a problem for tomorrow.
So tonight, they cling to each other in restlessness, hoping to convey their feelings with physical connection, breathy moans, and warm skin on skin. She wanted him to feel just how badly she wanted him to live. It radiated from every sweat-soaked pore on her body. He was too good to lose so quickly. Their accident a week ago made that perfectly clear to her.
Sleep overtook her, her attempts to keep her eyelids open futile. Â She didn't want to miss any part of this moment, trying to commit every touch, smell, sound, taste, and site to memory, just in case. Then, everything went dark.
As she woke in the early hours of morning, a low voice greeted her.
"It's time to get up. We need to get going."
She peered between the slits of her eyes and saw him sitting on the side of the bed, his uniform already on, a sad sort of smile crossing his face.
She sat up slowly, the covers sliding down her body, and began rubbing her eyes, attempting to get her bearings. Â She looked through bleary, sleep filled eyes, and soaked up the sight of those glasses and the handsome face behind them. Tomorrow was today and she was not as ready. She would never admit it, but she was scared. Scared of what they had done and what they were about to do.
"Ready or not, I suppose." She acknowledged begrudgingly.
She slid out of his bed, still completely naked but trying hard to push that thought out of her mind, believing his eyes were on her. She began moving around the room quickly, trying to find her haphazardly discarded clothing and place each item back on her body with the same swiftness she sliced her jet through the sky with. She realized out of the corner of her eye that his gaze was on the floor in front of him, his gentlemanly ways making the knot in her chest crunch tighter. He was silent and so was she, because the silence spoke loud enough for them both.
Once dressed she bent down and searched anxiously around his nightstand and the floor near the bed, obviously missing something. She was avoiding his eyes, trying to steady herself rather than face where they were going. Where they had been last night. She couldnât look at that elephant right now and instead focused all her energy into something extremely trivial.
"What are you looking for?" he asked.
"My hair tie.â
She continued moving her hands around under the bed without looking up, trying to find a way to grab the hair tie and run from the room before he could catch her.
âDonât you have others?â he asked with confusion in his voice.
She huffed. That was beside the point. She needed this one, so her hands would be busy as she made for the door. It was an excuse to not look at him, for fear of falling apart.
âIâll need a hair tie. Iâm not going to save the world with my hair down.â She lamely joked, more annoyance in her voice than she meant.
She heard a soft chuckle as his large hand wrapped gently around her arm, bringing her to an abrupt stop, her eyes remaining hyper focused on the floor. He pulled her up to her feet, although she didnât come willingly at first. He placed his hands on her hips and moved her to stand between his legs, keeping his grip firm. He seemed to know where her mind was. She finally rested her hands on his shoulders and raised her eyes to meet his. They stayed like this for a while, just gazing at one another, burning a hole into each otherâs souls. Then he spoke as a small smirk crossed his face.
"So, you're going to save the world?"
She smirked back at him, some of her tension easing, then her hand reached behind him, the lost hair tie spotted enfolded in the covers of his bed. She leaned back some, his grip still solid on her hips, and began to brush her hair up with her hands, wrapping the hair tie around her ponytail. Once all her hair was tied back, she placed her hands back on his shoulders, her eyes never leaving his, her smirk never ceasing.
"I gotta go get ready." was her only response. Â Nothing else needed to be said. They did what they did. Maybe, if they survived, they could do it again? She thinks she might like that but so many âwhat ifâ questions surfaced at the thought. She was overwhelmed by the mission, their behavior, his proximity. She didnât know what to think or feel and she never liked to feel out of control. Â
Then he pulled her closer by the hips and sat up to his full height. He cupped her face in his hands and placed a deep yet sweet kiss to her mouth. Her rapid firing mind was brought up short. One-night stands didnât usually end like this, at least not in her experience. He seemed to be telling her something with his kiss. A secret meant only for them. Something about the gravitational pull of that kiss told her they were going to be alright, in more ways than one.
She pulled back, a little breathless, grabbed her phone from the nightstand, and quickly trod to the door. Before she opened it, she tilted her head towards where he continued to sit on the bed, staring straight ahead, his ears layered with a light pink color. She grinned.
"Hey Floyd. Wanna help me save the world?"
He chuckled and let his chin drop to his chest, shaking his head. Then he looked up at her, a sad sort of mirth twinkling in his eyes. "I'll be right behind you the whole way."
"Good" she replied and slipped out of the room. She was ready to face whatever happened with a newfound confidence and teammate she trusted in ways she never thought possible. Â
Little upset about not being able to find a BobNix story I couldâve sworn Iâd reblogged.
Itâs Bob x Phoenix and Bob takes Phe out to a friendâs wedding (I think) and when Bob takes Nat back to her home, they end up as more than friends.
Natasha is happy that she gets to wear a pretty dress for once.
And sheâs jealous of fellow officers talking about Bob how heâs great in bed and wondering why Bob doesnât look at her like that. <- I got this part so wrong. Sorry.
Iâm upset that I cannot remember who wrote it, or the title. The story is a couple of years old, maybe even a little older. I know that much.
Please, someone, if you know what story it is and who wrote it, link it.
(And I know a writer I follow wrote it but I follow A LOT of people and ugh⌠I wish I could remember the URL. Iâm sorry.)
I'm so far behind its not even funny, but I have FINALLY finished my second entry for @roosterforme Top Gun Rocktober event.
I used my all time favorite song to create this completely self indulgent romance piece and I have zero apologies for it. ;)
Pairing: Phoenix and Bob
Words: 5433
Warnings: fluff, mild smut (no grave detail), kissing, did I mention fluff?
*I do not own the Top Gun characters.*
Lightening illuminated the windows while rain tap danced across the glass. A deafening crack of thunder shook the entirety of Bobâs apartment, rattling some of his frames on the wall and causing both he and Phoenix to jump in their seats. They were deep into their third round of Go-Fish and a lunch wager was riding on the winner of this last bout. It was serious and they both were concentrating so hard on their cards that the storm jolted them out of their haze.
âI hope the power holds.â Bob said while studying the dwindling stack of cards in his hand.
âAnd if it doesnât, we light some candles and keep going.â
âPhee, I donât have any candles.â
âFloyd. I thought you were a Boy Scout?â
âI didnât say I was a good one.â he whispered with a sheepish shrug.
âThank goodness for flashlights.â
âI donât have those either.â
Phoenix let out a huff âGuess I should plug my phone in, just in case huh?â she said exasperatedly as she stood to grab her charger from her backpack.
Phoenix loved being back in Lemoore with Bob, despite returning to their original squadrons. She missed flying with Bob, but their weekly meet ups for movies and card games helped. After the uranium mission they seemed to gravitate to one another, no one else able to understand the weight of what they went through together, especially since it was top secret, and they werenât allowed to speak of it. Between the bird strike and the mission, both of them had changed and they were thankful they had each other to lean on. Bob had suffered nightmares for a while and Phoenix had trouble enjoying things outside of work in the âreal worldâ like she used to. Their friendship carried them through those foggy first few months post mission.
Things had started to feel warm and fuzzy to Natasha about three months after their return to Lemoore. She was spending a lot of time with Bob, and they had become relaxed with each other. Movie nights now consisted of Bob wrapping his arm around her while she leaned into his side or Phoenix running her hands through his hair when he laid his head in her lap on the couch. Card games now include occasional rubs of one foot on the others under the table. Trips into town might find them holding hands and the one Saturday they drove out to the coast Bob held her hand on the gear shift of his truck the whole way. Neither of them spoke of the closeness they were experiencing; it was comfortable and comforting and neither seemed to find issue with it or the need to discuss.
Phoenix returned to the small dinning nook where Bobs card table and folding chairs were set up. He was quite a minimalist, but she didnât mind, up until now anyways. She plugged the phone in then flopped on to her backwards chair, straddling it in her plaid pajama pants and eyed Bob mischievously. Another rumble of thunder rattled the walls, and her grin grew in feigned innocence.
Bob looked up at her over his glasses with a furrowed brow, then back to his cards.
âGot any eights?â
âGo fishâ
He grunted and picked up a card from the pile between them. âPhee, how is it possible you are so good at everything right down to child level card games?â
She giggled at her bespeckled best friend.
âWhat can I say? Itâs a gift.â She winked at Bob, and he shook his head with a boyish grin.
âIâm pretty sure Iâm a few cards away from owing you sushi.â
âI think you might be right.â
And he was. Moments later Phoenix won and jumped out of her chair, fist pumping the air victoriously. Bob just smiled at her then cleaned up the pile of cards.
âMovie time! What do you want to watch?â she asked, flitting into the living room, and flopping down onto the couch.
Bob called from the kitchen where he was cleaning up their snack mess from the table.
âI chose last week. Itâs your turn.â
âOk let me see what I can find.â
Bob joined her on the couch, pulling her legs into his lap as he sat next to her.
âMy feet probably stink, Bob.â
âI donât smell anything, so youâre good.â
She smirked and went back to scrolling through the movies on the streaming service app on Bobs tv.
Suddenly Phoenix sat up quickly, her legs flying out of his lap.
âOH!â she shouted, causing Bob to startle. âThis is my favorite movie ever!â
âI thought Die Hard was your favorite?â He asked.
âThatâs my favorite Christmas movie.â
âPhee. Die Hard is not a Christmas movie.â
âIâm not having this argument with you again for the hundredth time, Robert.â she said as she gently popped his chest with the back of her hand.
Bob put his hands up in defense then looked up at the screen to see a picture of a heavily made-up David Bowie surrounded by furry characters.
âLabyrinth? Whatâs it about?â
She whipped around on the couch to look at him with complete disbelief on her face.
âYouâre joking? Youâve never heard of Labyrinth!? I know youâre a baby and all but itâs only one of the most amazing cult classics of the 1980âs. David Bowie, Jennifer Connelly, and a host of Jim Henson puppets.â
He smiled at her enthusiasm. âI am not that young and no, I havenât. Iâm gonna to be honest Phee, this surprises me.â
âWhat? Why?â she asked frowning.
âYour idea of a top-notch movie usually involves heavy gunfire and a string of cuss words throughout. Not Muppets.â
Phoenix rolled her eyes then pressed play. She shifted her legs around so she could lean into his side and Bob instinctively wrapped his arm around her shoulders as they settled in to watch the fantasy movie.
âYeah well, this one is special from my childhood and my favorite song on the planet is in it.â
âOh yeah?â he asked.
âYeah. Iâll tell you which one when it pops up.â
The opening refrains of Bowie began to trickle through the surround sound as they relaxed together on the couch. Somewhere along the way Bob began to rub small circles on Natâs bare arm and her head came to rest on his shoulder.
Later in the movie, the main character of Sarah bit into a laced peach and Natasha whispered up to Bob.
âThis is it. The dream sequence has my favorite song.â
The light melody of As the World Falls Down by David Bowie began to serenade the masked dancers on screen and Natashas eyes lit up. She had always loved this part as a child. The stunning attire, the soft lullaby of the love song. As she grew up, she began to realize the whole movie was a euphemism for coming of age and the song gained all new meaning for her. The lyrics started to take the shape of her journey out into the real world. College, commissioning, flight school, and traveling the globe. She missed her picturesque childhood, but it was time to grow up, whether she wanted to or not. The only thing she hadnât found along the way was the magical love story she thought she would have when she watched the costumed actors waltz around the dreamscape as a young girl. Â What she considered the last card in the grown-up deck. She had relationships over the years, but nothing that swept her off her feet the way she thought would happen. No one had promised her mornings of gold or Valentine evenings like the song said, but she was hopeful that might change, sooner or later.
Once Sarah shattered the walls of the fancy ballroom, ending the pretty scene, Bob reached over to grab the remote from the coffee table and paused the movie. Phoenix didnât move other than to pick up her head and look at him questioningly.
âPhee. The movie is weird. But that song is beautiful. I can see why you like it. Itâs sort of sad too.â
She gave him a gentle smile. âIt really is. And this scene has always been magical but also sad for me. Romantic and whimsical. Sarahâs caught between being a child and a woman and all the things she thinks she wants but also the things she doesnât realize yet she will miss about being a kid. I relate to the song and the themes of the movie.â
âYou do?â He questioned.
âSure. I had a normal, happy childhood, but like most kids, I couldnât wait to grow up. I wanted the adventure, the freedom, the uhâ she hesitated, lowering her eyes to his chest, âum, love, found only in the grown-up world. Now though, I wish I could go back sometimes. I love my life, but I miss the, um, innocence of being a kid. The tough stuff like top secret scary missions didnât exist yet.â She nudged him with a knowing look, and he grinned.
âGood at kidâs card games and carrying philosophical conversation about childrenâs movies to boot. Youâre not as scary as people think you are.â He mused.
She snickered and lightly elbowed him in the ribs. âYes I am.â
Bob grunted on impact, then blew out a heavy breath. âFine. Youâre not as scary as I thought you were. Youâre just a big softy.â And he winked at her.
Another bang of thunder rolled through the skies above and they both jumped.
âWe better finish this before the power goes out.â She said and he mumbled his agreement, pressing play on the remote again.
The storm began to clear out as the movie came to an end. Phoenix stood and stretched her arms over head while Bob turned the TV off.
âFinal verdict?â She asked when he stood up next to her.
âI still say weird, but Bowieâs music is brilliant and itâs definitely a unique way of portraying the transition from child to getting older. 4 out of 5 stars.â
She smiled at him adoringly before patting his cheek and heading for the entry way.
âIâm glad you liked it. I think our friendship would be over if you hadnât.â she said with a laugh as she scooped up her backpack from the floor and started rummaging for her keys.
âNat?â she turned to face Bob while shimmying into her sneakers.
He seemed nervous, shoving his hands into the pockets of his shorts. âWere you planning to go to Captain Holloways wedding next weekend?â
That wasnât what she was expecting. They both received invitations, but they hadnât really talked about it.
âI donât know, you?â
âWell. I was thinking.â He ran his right hand through his hair, stalling. âThat is. Do you want to go with me?â He rocked back and forth from his toes to his heels like a rocking horse, his shoulders all the way to his ears as he waited for her to respond.
âOh! Why Robert Floyd, are you asking me to be your date?â She crossed her arms with a questioning smirk on her face.
His cheeks turned a light shade of pink. âWell, ah, Yeah, I guess I am. Butâ he put both hands up defensively and his words rushed out. âI get it if you donât want to go. Or go with me. We can just meet up there if you want. Or do something else? Shoot. I bet you already have a date. Or I donât have to go at all if you want to go with someone else or go alone. Iâm sorry, I shouldnât have been presumptuous. You know what? Letâs just forget I asked.â And he let out a nervous chuckle.
Phoenix had not changed body or face position through his little freak out. She found him absolutely adorable when he was nervous. Inside a plane he was steady as the driving rain outside, but on the ground, he was shy, and it was endearing.
âBobâ she said, then she took the three steps across the entry way to stand in front of him. Phoenix placed her hands on his biceps, rose up on her tippy toes, and lightly pecked him on the cheek. âIâd love to be your date for the wedding. Pick me up at 6?â Then she gave him a brilliant smile.
Relief washed over his face. This sweet man was really starting to create warm feelings in her that she wasnât expecting but didnât hate.
âOh, ok. Great. Iâll pick you up at 6 then. You be careful out there going home, ok?â She removed her hands from his arms then slid them around his midsection to hug him. He wrapped his long lanky arms around her and gave her a light squeeze over her backpack.
âI will. See you tomorrow.â And with one last sweet smile she grabbed her umbrella from the porch, popped it open, and darted out into the muggy drizzle, an extra bounce to her steps as she made a beeline for her car.
Several days later, after a busy week at work, Phoenix was staring at her reflection in the full-length mirror in her bedroom. It had been a long time since she had attended a wedding, or any sort of formal event, that wasnât for the military and didnât involve her dress uniform. The ceremony was going to be outside overlooking a vineyard, the reception in an open-air barn, and it was quite warm for May in southern California. Many of her coworkers would be in attendance, including her very special date, so she knew she was never going to hear the end of it when they caught sight of her in something other than a flight suit for once.
She spent the afternoon before at a local department store trying on dresses. She honestly didnât even own an appropriate dress for an evening summer wedding. The few dresses she owned were tiny, black, and were rarely donned. She must have tried on at least 25 dresses, looking for the right one. If she was honest with herself, she was a little nervous. Yes, she and Bob had been friends for a while now, but this felt different. It was different. The little butterflies in her stomach told her things were changing and that thought both scared her and thrilled her. He was so different from anyone she had ever been with before. His strength wasnât in his brawn or bravado, it was in his quiet determination, unyielding devotion, and his rarely shared dry wit. He was handsome in an old Hollywood sort of way, and he never tried to make her feel small, obviously not scared of a female leader. She could admit that their friendship was based, at first, on trauma bonding but had since evolved into something she trusted. She just hoped he felt the same way. He did ask her out after all, so surely, he felt the shift in their relationship too.
The dress she settled on was a pale pink satin draped dress with spaghetti straps. She purchased a simple shawl in an even softer pink shade and nude kitten heels to go with it. Her hair was always up in the regulation bun so tonight she put a little curl in it and left it down, her grandmotherâs pearl earrings completing the ensemble. Natasha ran her hands over the smooth fabric as she studied herself in the mirror. She felt one hundred percent confident until it came to her feminine side. She loved being a woman and pretty things, but she was more prepared to fly an F/A-18 in drab green flight suits and kick back for beers with the guys after work than step out for a night on the town in a slinky pink dress. Just as she was preparing to talk herself out of going, she heard a knock at her front door.
Shit. Bobs here. Too late now.
Giving herself one more glance in the mirror, she hesitantly tucked a small strand of hair behind her ear, placed her phone in her small clutch, and headed for the door. With one last deep breath, she opened the door and watched the pool-blue eyes on the other side grow exponentially in a matter of seconds.
Phoenix watched Bob swallow hard and begin to stammer but bless the man no actual words came out at first. She managed a small smile at him and his large grin in return made her heart flutter.
He cleared his throat then tried again. âWow, uh Phee, you look, um, just wow.â His cheeks were bright red.
Bob looked incredibly attractive in a tailored three-piece grey suit with a white shirt and a striped tie in darker shades of blue. Phoenix felt a little flustered as well, not just from Bobs reaction but her own attraction to the handsome WSO in front of her. She stepped out of the apartment, locking the door behind her, then turned back to Bobâs still wide eyes. With a small giggle she pecked his cheek.
âYouâre pretty wow yourself. Ready to go?â
Bob shook his head, seeming to clear fog from his mind, letting out a small chuckle as he offered his elbow for Phoenix to take. âYes mam.â And they took off for the evening. Â
The ceremony was nothing short of spectacular. The sunset showed gorgeous hues of purple and orange as the couple said their vows and exchanged rings. Somewhere in the middle of the captainsâ vows while he spoke of feeling whole and complete by his soon to be wife, Bobs hand slid over and picked up Phoenix hand, wrapping his fingers between hers and moving it until both of their hands came to rest on his leg, his eyes remaining transfixed on the alter ahead. Phoenix tensed briefly, her eyes shifting sideways then quickly to their joined hands and finally back to the service. Was she sweating? Between the heavy emotions of the wedding, the story book surroundings, and Bobs large, calloused hand gripping hers, Phoenix skin was prickling warm, and her heart fluttered in her chest.
Once the groom kissed his bride and the procession was completed, the guests made their way to the outdoor barn for the cocktail hour and reception. Bobs hand slipped to Phoenix lower back as he gently guided her along the brick path toward the glowing string lights twinkling above the tables of the party area. Soft music played from the DJ stand as they gathered drinks from the bar and made their way to the seats at a round table labeled with their names on dainty gold embossed cards. Before she could say or do anything, Bob pulled her chair out for her with a gentle grin. Phoenix returned the smile and thanked him as she took her seat amongst some fellow aviators from various squadrons at Lemoore and their dates.
Once seated, Bob leaned over and whispered low in her ear âThank you for coming with me. Youâre so beautiful Phee. Iâm honored to have the prettiest date here.â
Phoenix turned her head slightly, her eyes meeting his glowing blue orbs, and the butterflies in her tummy began to dance all at once. She could feel warmth creeping up her cheeks. He was too sweet for words, and she knew she was falling hard.
âThank you for asking me. Iâm having a wonderful time. And youâre not too bad yourself.â She said as she reached up to straighten his tie.
He smiled at her, a full, toothy smile that made the corners of his eyes crinkle and she returned the smile wholeheartedly.
All through dinner and the initial formalities such as a toast and first dance, Bob continued to land gentle touches to Phoenix, sending chills along her body even through the warmth of the Southern California evening. At one point he wrapped his arm around the back of her chair and began rubbing tiny circles on her bare arm while he carried an idle conversation about something work related with the pilot sitting next to him. They didnât speak out loud to each other much, choosing to just relax and enjoy the joyous atmosphere around them as their tablemates came and went. An hour or so into the event, the party really kicked up when the dance floor opened, and the DJ began turning various tunes from slow country to club beats.
Bob and Phoenix decided to find the Bride and Groom to give them their congratulations then mingle amongst their friends and colleagues. Phoenix ended up surrounded by several ladies she knew, some from work and some the spouses or girlfriends of other aviators. The gaggle began praising her looks, asking questions about her dress and shoes. Phoenix was so wrapped up in the conversation, trying not to appear as uncomfortable as she felt, that she didnât notice her date slip away.
A soft melody began to float through the air, and she recognized the early refrain immediately. It was her song. The one she loved so much from her favorite movie. Phoenix excused herself quickly, turning to search for the person she knew had to be responsible. Standing a few feet away, next to the dance floor, was Bob, his outstretched hand beckoning her to join him. She closed the distance between them and slid her hand into his, allowing him to lead her to the middle of the dance floor.
He spun her slowly under their joined hands then wrapped his empty arm around her waist, pulling her in close to his chest, their joined hands coming to rest over his heart. The movements took her breath away. The whole thing was straight out of her childhood dreams. They swayed to the melody under the twinkling lights and her heart all but burst. Bob pulled her so close that her head came to rest sideways on his chest and she heard his dulcet tones begin to sing the song quietly into her head.
Iâll paint you mornings of gold
Iâll spin you Valentine evenings
Though weâre strangers until now
Weâre choosing the path
Between the stars
Iâll leave my love
Between the stars
She looked up at him with surprise. âYou learned the words!?â
His soft smile matched the gentle look in his eyes. âI listened to it on repeat for the last three days.â
She didnât know what to say, this was something straight out of a fairytale. Out of her dreams. He requested her song. He made her imagination come to life. Phoenix knew nothing in her life could ever overwhelm her emotions like this beautiful moment with her Bob. As she began to fight the tears pooling in her eyes, she laid her head back on his chest and continued to sway as the song came to an end. Even after the tune changed to another slow song, they just stood still, holding each other. Phoenix could feel Bobs heart pounding through his chest, and she knew her own heart matched his rushing rhythm.
She barely heard his whisper above the sounds of the party around her. âWanna get out of here?â
Not trusting her voice as she still fought back tears, she shook her head in affirmative. His hand still holding hers moved to raise her chin and their eyes met, his looking slightly wet like hers. âYour place?â he asked nervously, his cerulean eyes searching hers.
Phoenix released a small gasp, understanding the implications of his question, then nodded her head yes as she let out a breathy âyes.â
The ride back to her small two-bedroom bungalow was quiet, Bobs old truck rumbling down the road with tender tunes on the radio and his hand holding hers on the gear shift. They didnât look at each other, nervous tension instead filling the cab. He pulled into her driveway and hurried out of the truck, practically sprinting around to the passenger side to open her door. He offered his hand, and she took it, not ever saying a word as they walked hand in hand up to the small wooden porch. She began to open her small clutch to pull out her keys but his large hand reached up and brushed the back of her hand, stopping her movements.
âPheeâ he whispered, and she looked up at him, watching his eyes cloud over. Bobs hands worked their way across the slippery fabric covering her hips and he pulled her in impossibly close. Then their lips met, slowly. Stars exploded behind her closed eyes, blinding her in white light that felt warm and inviting. His lips were smooth and moved hesitantly at first. With her ears ringing she pushed into his lips slightly and he understood her nudge, deepening the kiss assuredly. Phoenix wrapped her arms under his and around his waist as she opened her mouth slightly, allowing him entrance. So many words unspoken poured into their kiss, and the world fell down. Her walls slipped away and she realized all at once that this was the love she had been hoping for.
All at once she broke the kiss, her eyes watching his flutter open confused. She was a little breathless but she gave him a soft smile.
âStay with me?â she asked, feeling extremely shy and vulnerable.
The almost startled expression his face shown caused her to giggle, but he managed to shake his head yes before she opened the door and led him into her dark house by his hand. Bob barely got the door closed behind him as she walked him through the house to her tiny back bedroom. Once they reached the door, she dropped his hand to enter the room and turn on the bedside lamp. He remained in the doorway, and she looked over her shoulder with a smile at him, dropping her shawl and clutch on the bedside table before she began to remove her earrings. It was like an intimate dance. His eyes were on her as she removed small articles, a show she was putting on just for him. A way of saying thank you for the special night and that she wanted this with him. She hoped she wasnât coming on too strong to scare him away. If she really admitted the truth to herself, she had wanted Bob in this way for a long time.
Just as she was about to tell him they could just watch a movie if he wanted, she watched him strode into the room, coming to stand behind her. She was just placing the second earring on the bedside table as she felt his hands slide around her waist from behind. Her hands came to rest on his and then her body shuddered when his lips met the bare skin of her shoulder.
âPhee.â He barely said above a whisper. Then he kissed slightly higher, sending a chill straight down her spine when his warm lips met the sensitive skin where her shoulder met her neck. Â âLook at me.â
She turned in his arms until they were eye to eye, her head craned back to look up at him. Bobs large hand ghosted across her cheek and into her hair, tucking a few strands behind her ear. Then that hand cupped the side of her neck, and he pulled her in for another languid kiss. Her skin felt on fire, everywhere. Phoenix had never felt this way before and she couldnât believe what was happening, but in the best way possible. She broke the kiss with a small pop of their lips and once his eyes were open and on her she all but blurted out âI love you, Bob.â
Embarrassment at her hasty declaration was coloring her cheeks and he let out a chuckle that made her squirm with further mortification. But if Bob noticed, he didnât say anything. He simply guided his other hand to the other side of her neck and smiled the most brilliant smile before returning her words. âI love you Natasha Trace.â
She could feel the tears welling in her eyes again as she found her words again. She felt bold as she stood up straighter and asked, âStay with me?â
He kissed the tip of her nose then said through a smile âAs long as youâll have me.â
The next few moments were a blur of touching and kissing. Her hands worked the buttons of his vest and undoing his tie while his slid the zipper of her dress down her back. Once the tie and vest were off, she guided the straps of her dress down her arms, letting it drop to the floor. There she stood in nothing but her white strapless bra, a thin white thong, and her heels. She felt exposed and unsure of what to do as his eyes looked down her body then back up, taking her in.
âGod Phee, youâre stunning. Iâm, uh, Iâm.â He hesitated as his eyes met her again. âIâm honored that you trust me like this.â
There was the confidence she loved hidden under the shyness. His appreciation of her was nothing she had ever experienced before, and she suddenly didnât feel so uncertain anymore. She knew she wanted to share herself with him and in turn, take him in. Her damp eyes remained on his as her hands swiftly worked the buttons of his dress shirt open, practically ripping it off of him. Then her eyes grew wide.
âRobert Floyd, youâve been keeping a secret.â She rasped with a mischievous look on her face. He began to blush under her scrutiny, and she giggled. Phoenix ran her manicured fingernails down his chiseled abs as she reached for his pant button.
After that, all clothes removed and his glasses discarded by her pearl earrings, they slid slowly onto her bed, a tangling of hands and kisses full of love and admiration. He worshipped her skin with his lips and touches, leaving no spot untouched. Phoenix felt like she was going to melt away, the heat of her body searing with each feather light kiss he left. He worked his way down her body, then back up, her chest now rising and falling quickly with pants of lust. She had never needed someone so much in her life as she needed Robert Floyd at that very moment. While he nibbled on the juncture of her shoulder and neck, she turned her head toward his and whispered into his ear.
âLove me. Please? Make love to me?â she asked with assurance. Â
Bobs eyes met hers, looking a little surprised at first, then they relaxed, a dazed grin crossing his lips. He lowered his head to kiss her as he moved himself between her legs.
It was slow and burning and passionate and beyond any of her wildest dreams. Their bodies rocked in tandem as he whispered his love onto her lips. He filled her body and spirit with everything they had been feeling for months and she couldnât pull him close enough to her. They became one. It overwhelmed her, made her feel desperate on a whole new level she didnât know she could feel.
The feelings overtook her, and she began to whimper as she met the most beautiful sensation she had ever felt before. Hot and freeing. She found what she had been missing. Her new favorite song became the pants of her name on his lips over and over again his own finality was reached.
A mess of hot breath, rapidly rising and falling chests, and wet eyes lay stilling in the hazy lamp light. A single tear escaped her eye, and he caught it with his finger as it ran down her cheek. Bob rolled them over and tucked her small frame into his side as their breath slowed. She felt him gently kiss the top of her head.
âThank you.â He said through ragged breaths.
She sat up on her elbow and looked at him, trying to convey with her face all the love she felt in that moment.
âNo. Thank you. For making my fairytale come true.â They smiled at each other before she moved back to his side, and she realized Bob was the morning of gold she had been waiting for. Her world was no longer falling down, and she drifted off to sleep feeling he had placed the moon within her heart. She wanted to follow a path between the stars with him forever.
I wanna cry. Iâve been looking for this story for 3 days (and nights) because I knew Iâd reblogged it at some point. I cleaned up my main blog some time back and migrated reblogs to my side blog (this blog) and somehow, this story fell through the cracks. I was going nuts cause I couldnât remember the title and was like âI know, Iâve read this BobNix story. I know itâs real. I remember some details but not all. Wedding. Pretty dress. Phoenix feeling vulnerable. (And jelly of fellow officers though I got that part so wrong!) AhhhhhhâŚâ
Iâm justâŚ.. one of my faves. How dare me I forgot the title.
âŕ¨ŕ§â Give them reasons they CAN'T be together that aren't just manufactured drama. Not miscommunication. Not love triangles. Not arbitrary "I push people away" trauma with no real exploration. Give them REAL obstacles: they're on opposite sides of a conflict, timing is wrong, there are actual consequences to being together, they have incompatible life goals, there's a power imbalance they need to resolve first. The obstacles should be meaningful and require actual character growth to overcome, not just a conversation.
âŕ¨ŕ§â Make the friendship foundation SO STRONG that readers ship them before the romance even starts. They should genuinely LIKE each other. They should have inside jokes. They should seek each other out just to hang out. They should trust each other. They should have fun together. When the romantic feelings start developing, it should feel like "oh no, I don't want to ruin this friendship" because the friendship is genuinely valuable. Readers should be able to believe they'd still choose to be in each other's lives even if romance never happened.
âŕ¨ŕ§â Let the tension BUILD in layers over time. First they notice each other. Then they start seeking excuses to be near each other. Then they start getting jealous. Then they start having Moments. Then they start thinking about each other constantly. Then comes the almost-kisses. Then the accidental intimacy. Then the barely-hidden feelings. Each phase should have time to breathe before moving to the next level. Slow burn means SLOW - readers should be desperate for them to get together LONG before they actually do.
âŕ¨ŕ§â Show how they change each other gradually. He starts smiling more because of her. She becomes braver because he believes in her. They adopt each other's habits and phrases. They start to see the world differently because of the other person's influence. Slow burn is about showing two people gradually becoming essential to each other's lives. They should be woven into each other's character development, not separate from it.
âŕ¨ŕ§â Make the payoff WORTH the wait. After chapters or books of tension, the moment they finally get together should be EARNED and SATISFYING. A CONVERSATION where they're finally honest. A moment where they choose each other despite the obstacles. A confession that feels like a dam breaking. The first kiss should feel like the conclusion of a long journey and the beginning of something new. Readers have been waiting for this, so make it count. Make it feel like YES, THIS WAS WORTH IT.

The clock ticked over, carving away another hour.
That made three.
Three brutal, excruciatingly long hours with no news.
No news is good news.
So they say.
Whoever they were had clearly never had to watch you eject at four thousand feet with an engine on fire. Jake had seen the chute deploy. He knew Search and Rescue were out doing their job. None of it did a damn thing to calm his accelerating heart rate.
Heâd been grounded, ordered back to base to wait.
âBut I saw where she went down, I know the exact spot!â Jake argued with Admiral Simpson earlier. With his growing frustration, he almost forgot to add the âSir.â
âAnd you relayed that information accurately to Search and Rescue, Lieutenant. They will find her, and they will bring her back.â
Another minute ticked by, and Jake made his decision. To hell with Search and Rescue. Heâd find you himself.
âHangman,â Phoenix warned as he pushed off the couch.
Ignoring her, he sidestepped the foosball table just as the common room door swung open.
Cheek bruised, scratches streaking your arm, one knee of your pants torn and bloody, you limped through the entrance.
Seeing Jake, muscles taut, and features set in a mix of anger and worry as he stared you down, you gave him a cheeky wink and a smile. "Did you miss me?"
âFuck,â he breathed, folding at the waist, hands on his knees, and chin tucked.

as horrible as the shit rooster says to maverick is I think heâs definitely said worse to him before. like judging by the scene where rooster mocks him for having no wife or children heâs definitely called mav the f-slur more than once
