TEA DIDN’T TAKE LONG to finish, and Xayah had the cup placed before her with a hollow clink as the pony explained herself. The answer wasn’t entirely satiating, and so the hippogriff felt brows furrow upon her expression, the questions growing all the more within her chest.
“Different HOW SO? Is it unique to your… island, then?” Such made sense in her mind. Energy has a way of adapting to different locations and species. What her kind used was varied from what the unicorns used, as well. And perhaps from what this other could utilize.
Back to pacing somewhat ( more so just wandering in order to allow her eyes the chance to land on anything but her companion ), a low hum echoed from her throat. “…Ponyville wasn’t around when I was, I don’t believe. Or, if it was, it was considered rather small and insignificant. But now I guess that isn’t the c a s e anymore, then. A school of friendship, though? Seems… silly.”
The mare would let out a small giggle at the mention of the friendship school being silly before she would sip her tea some more as she pondered how to answer the hippogriffs question.
“My homeland is that of the Thracian Ponies. We can use magic via channeling and harnessing our rage allowing us to cast a varying amount of spells or to accomplish feats akin to a unicorn. Ponies of Thrace train and learn to focus our rage through mediation and combat once one is able to channel rage without losing control the magic is easy to cast and utilize.”
Letting out a yawn Swift would set her tea aside as her curiosity about this ancient creature only grew.
“Why were you frozen into stone if I may ask? Was there some war waged here between hippogriffs and ponies?”
rebelquilled:
THERE WAS SO MUCH she wouldn’t know about or understand for some time. Such a realization was an idea within her mind that JOLTED her to her core. Being unaware or confused… lost… it was a v u l n e r a b i l i t y in Xayah’s perspective, and one that she wished to remedy immediately. Unfortunately, getting centuries worth of information in only a matter of minutes wasn’t going to play into her favor. For the next few weeks, the hippogriff was most likely going to have to deal with a sense of ignorance; a thought that felt like lava beneath her flesh, enticing vibrant gradient of feathers to rise up with her internal frustration.
Forcing them to ease so as to not bring forth questioning on her behavior, a deep inhale chilled the flames brewing, and she released the rest of pent up energy by beginning to wander about the area. At least until the tea was ready, to which she slowly came back over. Though trust was thin, Xayah also doubted any attempt to harm. Else that would have been accomplished when immediately released from her stone prison, for that was when she had been at her w e a k e s t and had been entirely unprepared to suddenly wage battle with such an opponent.
She hesitated on the idea of taking a seat, but drinking and pacing wasn’t quite as simple as it might be for the two-legged variety of species. So the ancient being relented, carefully settling herself so that she could take up the cup and sip idly. The warmth of the drink was welcomed in a variety of ways, both easing her tense muscles as well as providing soothing sensation to the dryness of her mouth.
Being ROCK probably wasn’t the best for hydration. So even despite the heat of it exploding on her tongue, Xayah swallowed rapidly.
“Why don’t you practice in your own home? Also you mentioned a town and a school? It’s been a long time since I was properly alive, obviously… but I don’t remember there being a town with a school…” Eyes drifted back to the map to seek out the mentioned location.
Sipping her tea and taking a few small bites of the cookies she had laid out. The mare would then set her cup to the side as she would gather up her books and notes to have in a neat pile before she would leave.
"I practice my magic here cause my teacher disapproves of the magic I use and cast. My magic is different from the typical spells and such used by unicorns and mainland Equestria ponies. And yes, the school of friendship is nearby a ways from this ruined temple. Ponyville is the town I mentioned, and it's about a half hour walk from this forest."
Taking another drink of her tea Swift would relax her nerves as she began to feel that she had practiced enough for today.
Announcement
I’m gonna try and be more active here as the muse for Swift is starting to come back and I still love writing for her.
starsweepers:
UPON EASED that the pony wasn’t going to make for her, Mittens slowly moved her way to the front of the bookshelf. Green eyes were WATCHFUL, taking note of what was happening. The smells were the most enticing part, and it didn’t take long to realize food was coming into play. Stomach r u m b l e d lowly, but the feline kept herself from looking too desperate in expression.
Little Fuzzy? Not the sort of name she had ever been given, but she supposed it was far from the worst. It might have even brought forth a chuckle from her maw, though it wasn’t heard as she kept it muffled.
Still, with the presentation now before her, she dared to move from her hiding spot, careful pawsteps bringing her nearer. Once in reach of the meal, she was at it, d e v o u r i n g with an eagerness she knew exposed her condition - if the mattered fur didn’t already. When contents were mostly finished, attention dared to check in on the status of her companion.
Shifting through her pages, the mare would gaze back up to offer a small warm smile towards the feline. Thinking to herself, Swift would begin to talk to herself as she did not expect the cat to pay attention to her speaking.
“I have seen a couple of cats around Ponyville. I wonder if Fluttershy lost this little fuzzy one. I’ll have to give Fluttershy a call and ask around, but I guess it’s alright if I let the cat relax for a while I finish up some much-needed reading.”
Settling into her book, the mare would light up her aura mask and levitate over a small glass of tea she would casually sip as she continued reading.
rebelquilled:
THRACE? Beyond her knowledge, but Xayah hadn’t exactly studied ponies too much. Everything that she had poured over… however long ago she had last been alive… everything had been about HER kind. About their magic, their land, their history. Though from the way this new companion worded it, it sounded like this strange kingdom w a s n ‘ t well known even among ponies. Which brought about a sense of intrigue from the hippogriff, though she didn’t much have time to pursue to the questions.
When one was woken up from a long slumber in stone, there were… other matters to attend to first than just addressing a new land she hadn’t heard of. Perhaps later she would get to satiate her appetite for discovery. At the present, eyes furrowed, glancing over all the maps she was provided, remaining silent as each answer given until the moment allowed response.
“Ah… Everfree. I do at least know of this place, then.” Even if it was beyond the realm of where she had grown up, that didn’t mean she was completely oblivious. History was one thing, but learning at least the n a m e s of other places hadn’t been out of her studies. “I suppose I might have been moved here for preservation. I don’t think this place is particularly… inhabited. At least not by anything that would be bent on having destroyed me.”
Perhaps that was merely hope on her part, but why not back to Mount Aris was a bit baffling. Perhaps there was magic here that they hoped would aide her release. “You come here to practice? This place is full of energy, I suppose. Maybe it was thought something here could undo what had been done… But that’s all guesswork.”
She was intrigued by this hippogriff and what she could represent in terms of old history and possibly magic. Swift would sift through her bag and pull out a small teapot accompanied by a sealed bag of tea and a small box of fresh cookies. She’d then begin to set about brewing up the tea with a smile on her face as the scent of cinnamon and mint filled the area as the pot began to steam, letting loose its fresh fragrance.
“I do come here to practice my magic from all the hustle and bustle of the school and town. Here I’m able to focus and relax my mind, which is needed for my form of magic. Would you care for some tea? I’m guessing after so long stuck as a statue would leave any creature parched for something to drink. I also have some cookies I baked this morning, so help yourself.”
The mare would hum a soothing melody as she would pour the readied tea into two small cups and then proceed to sit back into a comfortable position so that she may enjoy her tea.
“These ruins are indeed full of potent wild, magical energy that I have not felt anywhere else save my homeland of Thrace, which holds greater wild, magical energy these ruins hold. That is why this place is quite calming for my mind as it reminds me of my home.”
aflockoffeatheredmuses:
It wouldn’t be the nation of Equestria, if danger didn’t intend to lead it’s way to me every so often..
The Ra-Priest had done this dance before. The Glowpaz ankh around his chest hummed with energy - the very same currently channeling itself into one of the eagle griff’s lion-like paws.
Slowly, it took the shape of some sort of spear.
“Wouldn’t be the first time..”
The griff’s wings quickly extended and shortly, he’d wing it up into the skies before quickly lobbing the magical projectile towards the hybrid beast.
Sending her summoned arrows barreling towards the creature, Swift Foot would quickly call forth more to send another wave managing to pierce the beasts' skin. Then causing searing energy to begin radiating from its body as it would come crashing, ending its mid second rampage. Rushing towards it, the mare would conjure tendrils of crimson energy and bend to loop and lap over the chimera, holding it down tightly. Glaring at the mongrel, Swift would speak in a cold and ruthless tone as she spoke in her native tongue.
“Ψου ηαωε ξαυσεδ με ενουγη τρουβλε ψου σαωαγε βεαστ! Ι ηοπε τηε σπελλ ηυρτσ γρεατλψ! Ψουρ ενδ ωιλλ βε α σλοω ανδ βρυταλ ονε. Ι’λλ ταν ψουρ ηιδε ανδ πελτ ιντο α ξλοακ Ι ξαν ωεαρ αλονγ μψ τραωελσ!”

HER HEAD ACHED. She wanted to close her eyes and see nothing for some time, to try and relieve herself of the pounding that drummed about her skull like an obnoxious beat. Even if the situation seemed but a BLINK in the scheme of time, there still held some consequences to what had happened. The stiffness of her muscles was also evident, and golden depths checked to be certain that no aspects of her were still rock in some way.
Yet, everything seemed feathery and soft again, so she stretched out her wings, raising the cape from upon her being so that she could f l a p them a few times, urging blood to continue pulsing through every limb. Talons raised, pulling off sticky note after sticky note to let them flutter to the ground before her so that the pony could reclaim what she wanted.
Though the hippogriff seemed distracted, she listened, and attention took hold of the magic put on display. Intriguing that a seemingly normal pony could conduct such magic. As the last note was plucked from her cloak, she turned back to address the information provided.
Her curse was n o t what she spoke of, however. “Where is your homelands that a non-unicorn can perform magic? With ponies, I always figured it was only them. We’re not in your homelands, are we? Last I remember, I was still near to Mount Aris.”
Shrugging a tad, the mare would pull out a small map of current Equestria and the kingdoms beyond its borders and draw a circle around a large blank portion of the ocean, not giving a specific area.
“My homeland is the Kingdom of Thrace hidden from the world by ancient magic that was put in place by the first king. We are not, in fact, there we would have statues of hippogriffs around anywhere after all. We are in a stretch of land called the Everfree Forest.”
Pausing for a moment, the mare would unravel a scroll detailing a sketch she made of the ruins in what she thought they looked like before they crumbled.
“I think perhaps you were moved here by ancient hippogriff warriors for some purpose or another that I am still unclear of.”
flutter-butters:
Swift Foot had been making wonderful progress with her friendship lessons - so much so that she was beginning to meet ponies outside of Twilight’s immediate circle! One of part of those lessons was weekly tea with Fluttershy. It had worked wonders with Discord (who had been much more difficult to teach), so the pegasus thought it would work well for the Thracian mare. She had taken well to it, and now the weekly get-togethers were more just for fun rather than teaching. A knock at the door signaled Swift Foot’s prompt arrival.
“Coming!” Fluttershy opened the door, greeting her friend with a broad smile. “Hi Swift Foot! It’s wonderful to see you!” A small gasp left her lips as she caught sight of the tiny creature in the other’s hooves. “Oh, and you’ve brought a friend! What kind of animal is it?” The little thing was cuddled so close to her chest it was hard to see what it was.
Flashing a cheerful smile, the mare would make her way into the home and would shift about so that her pet could be seen a bit more clearly by the other.
“His name is Lyon! He is a pygmy flame panther, a species only native to my homeland. He can produce flames from his body, but they are not deadly unless he gets terrified, which would increase the heat of his flames to a more deadly temperature. he has been with me since I was a small filly.”
Making her way over to the sofa, Swift would pet the small creature before placing him down beside her as he would purr loudly, causing a tiny bit of flames to spew forth from his tail.

After much learning of friendship and making great strides in opening herself up to others, Swift Foot was finally becoming the better pony she hoped she could be. She was learning directly from Princess Twilight and her friends; the Thracian mare would in-kind share some of her homeland and tribe's customs from recipes to even her native tongue. Today though, Swift would be making her way to Fluttershy's home with a small animal resting in her hooves. Knocking upon the door, Swift would whisper a few words in her native tongue.
"Miss Fluttershy, are you home? Its Swift Foot. I've come for our weekly tea social, and I brought a little someone you might be eager to meet."
aflockoffeatheredmuses:
Today had been a pleasant day. A walk in the woods, a spot of brewed tea, and overall a relaxing get away from it all. The nature side of Equestria certainly had it’s charms at times; wily as it may be at times. But perhaps he could look forward to a nice evening.
..Suddenly, that blissful silence was interrupted by the sudden stop of a firm crash right though the tent.
So much for a relaxing Sunday..
In any other nation, this would have brought on a surprise.
In Equestria? Well.. not so much.
“..Do I want to know the answer to that?” He’d respond, tentatively approaching the rather fortunate mare who nearly prevented her death.
The mare would blow a strand of her mane out of her face and toss some twigs that she would fish out from being stuck in her mane as well. Looking at the griffon, Swift would shrug and move over to look beyond the creature to spot that chimera that she was fighting was well on its way to charge towards her.
"Well, unless you wanna end up lunch for the angry beast, I highly suggest you help me kill it because it seems to be getting ready to charge plus your dead center in its path."
Jumping up, Swift would flash her aura mask as crimson-hued arrows would form from the overflowing energy of the same color that manifested from the mare's body.

Months would go by following the feats of friendship and Swift's ultimate decision to pursue her path in finding an understanding of friendship all her own. Along her travels across the land, the mare would come to meet many other ponies and some other creatures, some seeking help and becoming friends with Swift. Today though, she'd come crashing through the air only to be stopped via impacting into a campsite, which she'd survive thanks to the last-minute casting of a barrier spell on her part. Rubbing her head, the mare would sit up her blood crimson aura mask still clear upon her face, and she'd look around to see that her impact was cushioned by what seemed to be a tent and sleeping bag.
"By the Fates! My head hurts! What did I hit, and more importantly where is that blasted chimera?"
Looking around, Swift would set her gaze upon what she could only assume was a griffon.
starsheld:
Her arm falls back to her side easily, a pang of hurt still jabbing in her core. She didn’t know what to expect, as the other had acted a bit cold thus far, but why the sudden tears ? Skystar could only hope she wasn’t to blame. Nostalgia was a powerful thing, but to have such an episode as that ? In the end, she decides to blame it on her lack of socialization outside of her own people, maybe things were more dire elsewhere.
“ … Okay. I could show you our old statues ? ” Her tour guide mood clearly took a blow from the interaction, but she was still determined to be a good host. Briefly, she dives under the water, only to rise above it in a burst of light. Soon, two hands lay against the sand where fins previously rested. “ They were kept in great condition until.. Well, you know. All of that. So they’re a bit beat up, but I think it gives them character. ”
No longer surprised by these creatures transformation magic, Swift would merely rise slowly and follow the Princess. Her expression remained neutral as she would only nod at what was being told to her. Her gaze would shift back to the open sea as she would follow behind the hippogriff to wherever she wished to take her.
"I bet they are breathtaking to behold, Princess. Please lead the way, and I'll follow close behind."
Adjusting her mane, the mare's accent would sound through more as her tone remained cold like in her words.
starsheld:
This… thing couldn’t even stand on two legs, like a proper creature. If it had not spoken, Nuka would’ve assumed this pony was prey, a mindless thing that panicked in groups only for the weakest to be plucked off one by one. So fair it has risen far above first inspection, but his confidence still rose above all else. Already, she had discarded him, but how she’d regret it in due time.
“ Then show me where the ponies are, pony ! You can’t be alone out here, I know that’s not how you operate. ” Fangs gnashed against one another as he spoke, outraged that he hadn’t reached the heart of the Pony Lands yet. “ I will reach your leader, and then we will scare you pathetic ponies away, taking everything we rightfully deserve! ”
Unfazed by the creature's show of hostility, Swift merely laughed at every word this beast spat and went on about.
"You're serious?! You would not last one minute against my kinds leader nor warriors beast, but it is funny you think you could. Your rage betrays you as well. Your species has clearly not mastered your temper nor emotions to any degree yet so pathetic."
As she insulted the beast, the mare would keep an eye on any signs of aggressive movement or move to attack her and had just the spell ready to fry the hairball tenfold.
rebelquilled:
DYING USUALLY WAS A PERMANENT THING, but perhaps what had happened to Xayah wasn’t true death. Now encased in stone, forgotten, she had managed to drive the beast away from the hippogriffs, securing PROTECTION before fate was met. The rebel had paid the price, and was locked away for some time with the curse that pursued her. A part of her knew time had passed, but it was like blinking, so when heat seared her entire form, the confusion she was met with thought such agony was still from the attack of the now a n c i e n t beast. As blood pulsed and heartbeat kicked into overdrive, she stumbled forward, aware that her sight seemed blinded, and head tossed wildly in concern she was still under attack.
Yet, ears soon caught understanding that she was listening to paper flap in a breeze, and something was rather annoying hitting against her beak. With snarl emitted from her throat, talons reached to snag at what rested upon her face, ripping it off and soon finding crumpled page pressed into her palm. Ears flicked, head canted… A glance to her body, to her w i n g s found a greater quantity of notes just stuck upon her. Like some sort of display for a class.
Fury over needing to defend herself faded into absolute confusion. Head ached with a beat like a drum, and she finally tried to take in her surroundings. Right. Future or whatever. The monster she had fought was long gone… instead was… a pony? Wait. If the hippogriff remembered the curse right, wasn’t something of terrible rage supposed to free her?
…This was just an earth pony.
How…. LAME.
Standing straight, though dignity somewhat trampled by the presence of pages still pressed to her form, Xayah huffed. “…You didn’t mean to free me, did you?”
Staring at the creature that was just a statue before her moments ago, Swift Foot would let loose a small laugh seeing that some of her notes still pressed upon her. The mare would shake off the mix of surprise and amusement and shook her head before answering the hippogriff.
I had no intention to free you nor any knowledge that you were alive within that statue form. I do apologize, though, for using you like a post-it board. I guess my spell somehow affected whatever magic held you. Give me a moment.”
As her words still hung in the air, Swift would summon her aura mask and levitate one of her Thracian tomes over and sift through the pages before closing it with an approving nod.
“That spell I had cast upon in your direction must have overloaded whatever remained of an old curse or hex that was placed upon you. My homelands magics are different from Equestria ponies, so I guess if it were unicorn magic, that would make sense why mine may have canceled it out.”
starsheld:
While her competitor fixed her hair, Skystar did some stretches in place. She’s not stranger to walking around, but when it came to a matter of speed her wings were easily the best choice. This would be a fun exercise either way ! Seeing the other strike a pose, Skystar leaned down in what she truly believed to be a runner’s pose. She was at her mark, ready… and there she goes ! Sand was quickly kicked up behind the Princess as lanky legs dodged around one another. About halfway through the little sprint, she found herself having to split off some focus into not flapping her wings - that’d be cheating after all ! But they kept wanting to naturally unfold and catch the breeze, making her quickly lose speed while glancing back at them.
“ Wow! ” She exclaims through airy breaths. “ Running kind of.. sucks! ” She’s happy to see she may be catching up, though !
Swift was quick to take advantage of the difficulty Skystar seemed to have and made sure to up her speed. Swift would then blast a small dose of her Thracian pony magic from her aura mask that would cause a small crimson light stream to form a finish line of sorts.
"Whoever wins gets to ask a favor of the loser! So I hope you're ready to lose Princess!"
Keeping up her speed, the mare was not inclined to lose whatsoever, given her personality and drive to win at everything.
bluh bluh, it’s the bug queen, redux.
