“I missed you”, she whispers while grabbing you at your waist to spin you around.
“Hi Jayie, missed you too”, you reply with a tired smile, taking a step back to stabilize your stance.
“Nu-uh, don’t you go away again” JJ says, hooking her fingers in the belt loops on your jeans and pulling you back into her. She presses her forehead against yours and wraps her arms around your hips. You close your eyes, enjoying being so close to her. It’s true, you missed her too, a lot. Even though you were gone for barely over a week, it feels like ages ago that you had been in her arms.
“You can never leave again, you were gone for way too long”, she mumbles. When you open your eyes again you can see her pouting. It’s just so adorable you can’t help but smile at her.
“Hey don’t laugh at me, I’m seriou-” but you kiss her before she can finish the sentence. She instantly starts kissing you back softly, moving on hand from your hips into your hair while your own hands start sliding down into the back pockets of her jeans.
Both of you know it will happen again, that one of you will have to leave again. It’s just what you get for both having a job that you often have to travel for. You love your job and you know that she loves hers as well, but being apart multiple weeks a month just really sucks.
When you both pull back to breathe she smiles at you, “How are you feeling?”
“Tired”, you reply, burying your head in the crook of her neck. You inhale the scent of her body mixed with her perfume and it just feels like home.
“When is the last time you have eaten, baby?” she asks, giving you a scolding look when you mumble “breakfast” into her skin. “I’m sorry… it’s just after finishing up I just rushed to the train to get back home as fast as possible, there was no time for lunch and I also didn’t want to buy an overpriced chocolate bar or something on the train” you answer truthfully. You were so excited to finally return home, you hadn’t really noticed your empty stomach until now. Right on cue it starts grumbling causing the blonde in your arms to giggle. “Okay sweets, hear me out. I make us some dinner but we eat on the couch all cozy and you can tell me about your trip if you want”, she suggests and you nod against her neck. She tries to pull out of your hold to lead you to the kitchen, but you fasten your grip not letting her go. It startles her for a second before she realizes what you want. “So lazy”, she mumbles before positioning her hands to pull you off the ground. You wrap your legs around her waist, to stabilize yourself, still amazed by the ease with which she can just pick you up even though you have been picked up by her strong arms more often than you can count.
She sits you down on the kitchen counter after effortlessly carrying you through your shared apartment. “So, what does my love want for dinner?”, she questions, already knowing what answer to expect when she sees the expression on your face. “Surprise me” you say, beaming up at her.
“You don’t have a preference, huh? Alright then, but I’ll not tell you what i’m gonna make”
And with that she starts digging through the fridge, putting random things on the counter, cutting up vegetables and rummaging through the cabinets searching for whatever supplies she needs.
If you would pay closer attention to what she’s grabbing you could possibly pinpoint on what meal she decided on, but your eyes are switching between the concentrated look on her face and the way her body moves around effortlessly while she prepares the food.
After some time - you couldn’t have estimated it even if you tried to - she turns around to you and happily exclaims „All done!“
She has already prepared to plates and set them on the coffee table in the living, so all she has to do now is pulling you off the counter you has been sitting on, leading you to the living room and cross her legs with yours after putting your plate in your hand and making sure you are settled comfortably on the sofa.
JJ loves just being able to touch you at any time. You know she craves physical touch as much as you do, so it’s no surprise that as soon as you both have finished eating you’re curled up in her lap the fingers of one of your hands interlaced with hers, while her other hand is playing with your hair. You feel the tiredness that this stressful day left behind creeping up again and if you closed yourself eyes you would probably just fall asleep in seconds, but you don’t want this evening to end. The upcoming days will be stressful enough so you might as well spend as much time as possible right here with your person where you can ignore all the stress and struggles. You move around a bit until you can look in JJ‘s face, giving her a tired but content smile.
„Everything okay?“ she asks you, moving a loose strand of hair out of your face.
„More than okay!“ you whisper.
„Welcome home baby, welcome home!“ she whispers back to you and when you close your eyes you instantly drift off into a well deserved nap.
