Wow. I was so sad and so broken 3-5 years ago. It's surreal to read some of the things I wrote. It feels like those experiences didn't even happen to me. That's crazy.

I think my biggest hang up has been the scale. I keep looking at the numbers and seeing that they’re not going down at the rate that I want them to go down so I get frustrated and discouraged. It’s stressful af
A twitter thread from Jordan N. DeLoach @jndeloach, which was reposted by @badassbrownactivist. The article was published in December 2018 by PLOS Medicine and can be found via the link https://bit.ly/2Lbv5Oj.
1: Yesterday, a peer-reviewed journal published a review that analyzed nearly 150 studies from 1990 - 2018 about sex work from across the globe.
It confirmed that the criminalization of sex work endangers people in the sex trade.
2: The review found a clear association between criminalizing sex work and increased physical/sexual violence from clients and increased risk of HIV/STIs for sex workers.
3: They concluded that repressive policing of sex work further marginalizes groups of people that already face marginalization in society. This includes Black and brown trans and nontrans women and queer folks.
4: “Opponents of decriminalization of sex work often voice concerns that decriminalisation normalises violence and gender inequalities, but what is clear from our review is that criminalisation does just this”
5: They recommend legal reforms and increased funding into social and health care services for and by sex workers
Black and brown sex workers have been saying as much for a long time. This is still a big deal! The movement been had evidence and this adds to it significantly!
6: Sex work is work, sex workers deserve housing and not handcuffs, and sex workers want rights and not rescue.
I’m excited to see where sex workers continue to lead this fight. Especially Black and brown folks with experience in sex work! I’m following y'all!

The weirder the porn you do, the less likely your friends are to admit they saw you in it.
