Yes! Even if EA's Origin doesn't like you or your country you can steal download Star Wars: The Old Republic. You won't be able to play it since early access hasn't started, you don't have a serial key and everything else.

SW:TOR Testing. 11-25-11 – 11-28-11

SW:TOR IS an MMO

I have read so many reviews where people talk about the social aspects of SW:TOR and how they don’t exist. What? Are you serious? This last testing weekend I spent 99% of my time questing with my good friend @Xee_thot. And, we garnered help from another friend, @NastyMcgyver when doing epic story lines. Not to mention, the folks who teamed up with us for one reason or another along the way. If you are not socializing in this MMO then you aren’t trying hard enough. BioWare has done a great job of making this game available to ALL.

Story

We have all heard it, “SW:TOR has STORY”!!! I don’t think you really grasp the importance of that until you actually play the game. Say “good-bye” to reading endless text windows. Say “later” to meaningless quest lines. In SW:TOR there is a reason for every quest you do, even if it’s to kill 35 of these or, gather 10 of those. It all comes together nicely. You are doing something and you know EXACTLY why you are doing it. To me, it has to be the best feature of the game so far.

Another nice story feature is the fact that you can watch another player’s story line. Several times @Xee_Thot and I would watch each other’s story line play out. When you are in a group you can enter you group member’s story area and help with the quest. Also, when you go to turn in the quest you can be in “spectator” mode and watch the conversation evolve. Several times @Xee_thot and I would type to each other “didn't see that coming”. Nice touch by BioWare. Really gives you a desire to play the other classes. BioWare did a nice job of keeping you on your toes story wise. Best pay attention, or you may just miss something very important.

Combat

Combat was great. Very fluid and I LOVED the sound effects. All the saber and gun fire sounds, the growls the Warrior made when doing some of his attacks. It all led to the feeling of “danger”. You were dangerous and others better take notice or they, as they most certainly did, were going to die a quick death. The mobs difficulty level was perfect. You better not be dumb or they would get you.

Sound & Music

How do you describe sound? I don’t think you can. Epic? It was all very cool. I can’t imagine playing this game without it. That may be “Captain Obvious” talking but seriously, I have played games where music and sound have not been all that great. Sometimes I would stop and just listen. I was in the Star Wars universe, and the music and sound enhanced that.

Bugs

This game does have some bugs. Nothing game breaking though. The worst one was when I zoned into another area my companion would “disappear”. They were there you just could not see them. This was quickly rectified by calling your other companion and dismissing them by calling the companion you wanted. It seemed to only be happening to me though. I thought that @Xee_Thot being green lots of time was funny as hell. Mako would heal him and until he re-logged the healing effect stayed with him. I just though he was green with envy with the absolute power of my Warrior!!! I am sure they will be hard at work fixing all the issues that were reported this weekend. What’s a MMO without a few bugs anyway??

Conclusion

PLAY THIS GAME!!! If you don’t, you will be missing out. If you have NEVER played an MMO before, or hate to pay to play a game try this one anyway. It really is worth it. This is simply the BEST game I have ever played. Period.
