Chapter Seven: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
Dorothy crashed into Oz greeted upon people she never knew or met. They told her, go along this path and you will find what you seek. Sometimes you just don’t question things, so Dorothy went on the path head held high.
Hanging up on a post was a scarecrow. He was a bumbling brainless scarecrow with a sense of humor nonetheless. After getting him down she taught him to believe in himself and that she believed in him. Giving him the strength she did he began his journey with her. She didn’t care that he was brainless, that’s not why she fell for him, he made her happy, made her laugh.
Walking on the pathway they truly weren’t sure was the right direction they stumbled onto trees that were violent to them throwing hatred, words, societal wrongs and rights, in the form of sociable apples. Barely making it by, she stumbled across a man quite still, a tin man. He wasn’t a man of many words. He had a lot of walls built up and Dorothy tried her best to help him. She didn’t care that he was heartless, that’s not why she fell for him, he made her feel more intelligent, made her think more logically. Joining her and the scarecrow, the three journeyed into the forest.
The Wicked Witch of the west swooped in setting the scarecrow on fire and threatened the tin man. In the face of fear the scarecrow burned, the tin man shook, but Dorothy stood there, a force to be reckoned with for an internal strength of mind, body, and soul are truly powerful things. She sent the Wicked Witch away momentarily, saving the ones who were supposed to protect her. Sometimes you can’t always have someone save you, sometimes you have to be the hero Dorothy thought and knew in her heart.
Just when everything seemed to being going great for Dorothy, a lion jumped out from the brush. He seemed to really know what he wanted to fight for, but Dorothy saw right through him. He liked to put up a good show, a mask of some sort, but she knew deep down, he was a coward. She didn’t care that he was a coward, that’s not why she fell for him, he made her feel more aware, made her embrace her feelings of fear and turning them into strength. She loved him regardless if he couldn’t have the courage; she took his paw, made him feel like less of a coward. They linked arms and finally arrived to their destination.
Dorothy finally arrived to Oz. Through all the trials of the wicked witch of the West, her companions helping her, she was finally going to get what she had always wanted. Walking up to the wizard he implored what it was she wanted.
“I was going to ask for a clock that could turn back time. There are some days I wished I could go back in time, take a different path.”
“Where would you go back to?”
“I don’t know.”
“If you don’t know what makes you think it is right to go back?”
“You are right.”
“If I went back in time I would’ve never met the man with no brains, he did not think with his mind, but I learned that sometimes in the rain you must dance, still smile through the pain.
If I went back in time I would’ve never met the man with no heart, he did not feel with his heart, but I learned that I cannot work through something with feelings alone, think through the pain.
Last, if I went back in time I would’ve never met the man with no courage, he was a coward, but I learned that sometimes fear allows you to strengthen yourself, not knowing the outcomes sometimes strengthen you in ways you’ll never understand.”
“Have you decided what it is you desire?”
“What I truly want, above all things, Is for them to understand why I have to leave. Why each one is important, they need to understand that I am something special. Through their flaws I have learned, but through my absence I do not wish pain, only regret, remembrance, and to never forget the impact I had in their life. Is that possible?”
“I’m sure you know that answer.”
“One can hope, Good bye Oz”
Dorothy clicked her heels and went home. Most of this she wondered if it was a dream, to this day she will never forget the man with no brains, the man with no heart, and the coward. Because of them, she is a stronger woman because she can’t turn back the hands of time.
